THE ROLE — VOLUNTEER OFFICE & COMPLIANCE MANAGER AND EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT TO THE CEO
We’re looking for a Volunteer Office & Compliance Manager and Executive Assistant to the CEO — a highly organised, warm, and reliable person who can help build the operational backbone of SUNSHINE.
This is a hands‑on, people‑centred role for someone who loves structure, clarity, and supporting others to do their best work. You’ll help keep our young charity running smoothly, safely, and in line with good governance — while also providing direct support to the Founder/CEO.
Your work will help create a calm, organised, and joyful environment where volunteers can thrive and SUNSHINE can grow with confidence.
As our Volunteer Office & Compliance Manager and Executive Assistant, you will:
1. Support the CEO

Provide executive support to the Founder/CEO, helping manage priorities, scheduling, and communication.

Prepare documents, briefings, and follow‑ups to keep things moving smoothly.

Act as a trusted, organised partner helping the CEO stay focused on strategy and community impact.
2. Lead Office & Administrative Systems

Build simple, accessible systems that help SUNSHINE stay organised as we grow.

Manage shared inboxes, files, calendars, and internal communications.

Ensure volunteers have the information and tools they need to do their roles confidently.
3. Champion Compliance & Good Practice

Support the development and maintenance of key policies and procedures.

Help ensure SUNSHINE meets its legal, regulatory, and safeguarding responsibilities.

Keep records, documents, and processes up‑to‑date and easy to understand.
4. Enable Smooth, Safe Operations

Support risk management, data protection, and health & safety processes.

Work closely with the Company Secretary, COO, and other volunteer leads to keep everything aligned.

Overview:
The Administrator will play a vital role in supporting the smooth and efficient running of the organisation. This position involves handling administrative tasks, maintaining records, supporting communications, and assisting with event coordination. Volunteer Admissions Assistant
You'll be multitasking throughout the day, with a mix of responsibilities including customer service, ticket sales, promoting Gift Aid donations, shop duties, guiding visitors and providing information about the Museum and the collection. If you enjoy a fast-paced environment and love engaging with people, this is the role for you.
The Volunteer Admissions Assistant role is all about making a lasting impression and creating a memorable visitor experience. You’ll be:
- Welcoming and engaging with visitors, sharing information about the museum and its collection.
- Selling tickets and gift shop items, ensuring smooth transactions and great customer service.
- Collecting data for Gift Aid and marketing purposes, including how visitors found out about us.
- Creating positive experiences to encourage return visits and word-of-mouth recommendations.
- Helping visitors explore the Museum through interpretation, answering questions and distributing trails, accessibility and family activities.
- Maintaining the gift shop, including restocking, counting stock, and setting up attractive displays.
- Conducting online research and building contact lists to support marketing efforts.
- Promoting the Museum locally, raising awareness and encouraging more visitors to discover what we have to offer!
Who we’re looking for:
We’d like to extend an invitation to anyone, particularly members of the local community. Full training will be provided, we are looking for anyone with:
- Great customer service skills – you will be friendly and confident about approaching visitors of all ages and backgrounds
- Great communication skills – you will be able to clearly explain information about the Museum and ticketing to visitors
- Good computer skills – with training, you will be able to use our ticketing system, email and Microsoft Office
- Good Sales Skills – you will be able to promote ticket sales and gift shop items as well as encouraging Gift Aid donations
- Multitasking skills – with various responsibilities such as selling tickets, guiding visitors, and managing the gift shop, you will be able to juggle tasks efficiently
- A good telephone manner
- Good team working skills
This role offers plenty of variety, and you'll play an important part in making every visitor's experience unforgettable.
Training and support:
All volunteers will first be invited for a training shift. We have an induction and training process, during which we give volunteers the information they need to enjoy their time with us. Training is mainly 'on the job', supported by an experienced volunteer as well as the manager on duty. Volunteers are given regular feedback and we remain open to suggestions on how we can improve the volunteer experience. The Admissions Assistant receives continued training and development throughout their time with us.
Availability:
We are looking for volunteers who would ideally like to donate 2-4 shifts per month, weekdays or weekends, either as a 10-1.30pm shift, or a 1.30-5pm shift, for a minimum of 3 months. Ideally, you will be able to start immediately, although this is not essential. Travel expenses up to £5 will be paid, with up to an additional £5 for lunch expenses if you are on a full day shift.
Please note: Applicants from some overseas countries are required to have a relevant work permit or student visa to volunteer in the U.K. We’ll need to see this for our records before volunteering can commence.

About Youth ESOL:
Our award-winning ESOL project offers English language classes to young people at a wide range of levels. This provides vital skills, opportunities and social contact and is crucial for enabling young people to do well at school or college.
About the Role:
CARAS is looking for volunteer ESOL Teaching Assistants to support our face-to-face study programme called ‘Get Ready for School.’
This programme is attended by young people out of education and is based in Streatham on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Core delivery of the programme includes English, Maths, Digital skills, complemented by Reading and Writing for Pleasure.
We also run Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon classes open to all existing CARAS youth community members, 4:30pm to 6pm. These classes tend to be larger and have a large range of language levels.
Volunteers in this role are required to commit to at least one 2-hour session per week, during these times:

Monday 10 am to 3pm

Tuesday 2pm to 6pm

Wednesday 11am to 6pm
Please note that ESOL classes do not run during school holidays, and we follow Wandsworth Council term dates.
Volunteer Tasks and Responsibilities:

Providing learners with one-to-one or small group support within ESOL classes;

Help young people to build confidence in digital literacy;

Helping to set up the classroom and provide learners with classroom resources;

Engaging learners in informal conversations or games during breaks to help them practice their conversational English.

Checking the session plan aims with the lead teacher and assisting learners achieve them;

Attending and contributing to volunteer debriefs after each session;

Making use of any community languages you may know to help students during the class;

Requirements
Essential:

To be 18 years or older;

Able to travel to our community centre in Tooting (travel and food expenses can be reimbursed);

An interest in education and English language teaching;

To be non-judgemental and able to engage with people from diverse backgrounds;

To be reliable and punctual. We ask volunteers to commit to at least one class every week for a minimum of 4 months. If you are unable to attend a class due to a planned holiday, you must inform the program lead in advance.

Excellent communication skills, especially with people who are new to English;

The ability to volunteer on Monday mornings and Wednesday afternoons/evenings during Wandsworth term time for a minimum of four months;

About the CARAS ESOL Team:
Our ESOL team offer English language classes to adults at a wide range of levels. This provides vital skills, opportunities and social contact and is crucial for enabling people to attend college and access other services in the future.
About the Role:
CARAS is looking for volunteer ESOL Teaching Assistants to support our online Zoom classes on Wednesdays:

At Mary’s Youth Club, we’re not just a youth club – we’re a vibrant, inclusive community where young people aged 10–19 (up to 25 for those with disabilities) come together to share, grow, learn, and enjoy themselves. Our open access youth club runs exciting and diverse programmes Monday to Friday, including school holidays. Young people help shape our programmes, and we champion their independence, creativity, and voice.

VOLUNTEER WITH US!
Volunteer role title: Volunteer Chef/Cook/Kitchen Staff
Hours: 2-3 hours on a Friday evening, from about 4.30/5pm
Help us to meet our goal of creating healthy meals for young people, by volunteering in our kitchen!
We are looking for volunteers with a passion for cooking, nutrition and healthy eating, to assist in the kitchen independently, as a group, or alongside our youth workers and young people, preparing a warm meal for up to 40 young people.
You are welcome to come along as an assistant volunteering with the rest of the team, but we would also love volunteers who are interested in heathy eating to lead on this initiative, teaching those young people who choose to volunteer in the kitchen, food preparation skills, how to cook nutritious foods, as well as sharing the joy of eating together
This role will include:
- helping to prepare hot food by chopping vegetables, cooking etc
- serving the young people during the Friday evening dinner service.
- helping with cleaning up the dining room and the kitchen
If you are interested in taking a more active role/lead on this project then you would also lead on the menu planning and budgeting
The commitment
- We are looking for people who are able to commit 2-3 hours on a Friday, from 4.30/5pm
- This commitment is during term time (please note that additional volunteering in school holidays is beneficial to Youth Club delivery but not essential)
Experience
You do not need to have experience in catering, or to have volunteered before, as you will be well looked after by the team, but if you are interested in leading on this project then it would be beneficial to be able to demonstrate your knowledge/passion
Training
You will be given a full induction to Marys Youth Club.
This includes access to our training platform. The mandatory training for this role includes:
- Food hygiene and safety
- Safeguarding
- Health and Safety

After this intro call, potential volunteers are invited to come to the youth club to meet the young people and the youth workers, this is a chance to see if volunteering with us is a good fit
If you are invited to progress with your application, you will be asked to complete a DBS, provide us with 2 references, and complete the mandatory training listed above.

We’re seeking committed new trustees to help guide a small but ambitious charity supporting children and young people with cerebral palsy, ensuring our funds deliver meaningful, life-changing impact.
Our Board is made up of a small, committed group of trustees who bring a mix of professional expertise and personal connection to our cause. Together, we oversee a grant-making charity that has a long heritage and a clear ambition: to increase our income and ensure we can support more children and young people with cerebral palsy in meaningful, practical ways.
Like many small charities, our challenge is balancing strong governance with growth. We are financially stable and well run, but we want to think more strategically about our future: how we prioritise funding, how we grow awareness and income, and how we ensure every grant we make delivers real, lasting benefit for families. The new trustee will play an active role in shaping these conversations and helping the Board move confidently from steady state to sustainable growth.
The role is hands-on and collaborative. Trustees are expected to attend four board meetings a year, contribute thoughtfully to discussion and decision-making, and engage between meetings when specific issues arise. Depending on interest and experience, the new trustee may also be invited to take a lead role in an area of work or join a small working group, for example around fundraising development, investment oversight, or grant assessment.
This is an opportunity to influence how limited charitable funds are used where they matter most. Trustees are directly involved in decisions that enable children to access therapy, specialist equipment, and support that may not otherwise be available. For someone who wants to make a tangible difference, this is a role where your contribution can be clearly seen in the lives of the children and families we support.
