Every year, young people in our community face the frightening reality of having nowhere safe to stay. By becoming a Volunteer Nightstop Host, you can provide a warm welcome, a safe place to sleep, and the breathing space a young person needs while longer-term support is put in place.

About Us

Wyre Forest and South Worcestershire Nightstop and Mediation works with young people aged 16–25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to build an independent and positive future.

Our services include:

• Safe, emergency accommodation through our Nightstop community hosting scheme.
• Family and school mediation to help prevent relationship breakdown.
• Homelessness prevention through education, life skills workshops and crisis support.

About Nightstop

Nightstop provides emergency accommodation in the homes of trained and approved volunteer hosts. Rather than spending the night on the streets or in unsafe situations, young people are offered a temporary, safe place to stay while our team works to find appropriate longer-term accommodation and support.

As a Volunteer Nightstop Host, you'll never be working alone. Our experienced team provides ongoing guidance and support throughout every placement.

What You'll Do

As a Nightstop Host, you'll:

• Provide a clean, safe and private bedroom for a young person needing emergency overnight accommodation.
• Offer an evening meal, breakfast and a packed lunch.
• Give access to bathroom facilities and laundry if needed.
• Stay in regular contact with the Nightstop team before, during and after placements.
• Maintain appropriate professional boundaries while providing a welcoming environment.

Placements are short-term and arranged around your availability.

SV 2 has been supporting victims and survivors of sexual abuse since 1994, and today provides a range of services to anyone in Derbyshire and Derby City who has experienced sexual abuse, assault or violence, including their friends and family members. We support people irrespective of age, gender or when the abuse occurred.

We are looking to recruit a team of events volunteers to help raise awareness of SV2 services at external events, celebrations and various festivals across Derbyshire.

Requirements: You must be over the age of 18 along with having great communication and interpersonal skills. You must be flexible and willing to volunteer at various locations including outside events on a rota basis with the expectation of approximately 1-2 events per month (travel expenses will be covered).

You must be enthusiastic about raising awareness of sexual abuse. You will also need access to a car with business insurance which can be used to transport marketing material such as banners and leaflets to events for this role.

If you think you have the right skills and experience, then we are keen to hear from you.

Responsibilities: You will be working with a small team of volunteers to provide a visible presence in order to promote SV2 services and raise aware of sexual abuse at various events within the county. At the start and end of the event you will be expected to set up and pack away SV2 promotion materials and banners.

You must have excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with a wide range of people. You will need to be non-judgemental and stay calm in sometimes challenging situations.

At One Degree, our mentors, ambassadors, and teachers are more than just volunteers—they’re lifelines for students often overlooked in their schools and communities. By offering direction, encouragement, and a sense of possibility, our volunteers transform lives while experiencing the profound reward of making a real, tangible impact.

Most of our mentors are young professionals, bringing passion, patience, and empathy to help GCSE/Year 11 students (ages 15–16) navigate their challenges. These volunteers serve as role models, guiding students who might otherwise feel left behind toward brighter futures.

To foster meaningful connections and provide continuity, we ask volunteers to commit to at least three in-person or online sessions per year. This ensures students build trust and form bonds with the people dedicated to helping them succeed.

What time commitments are required?

Preparation

1. Mentor registration (2 minutes)
2. Online mentor training course (30 minutes)
3. Online safeguarding course (30 minutes)
4. Online DBS/CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check (15 minutes)
5. Online personalised 1-on-1 mentor training (2 x 30 minutes)

Total time needed to become a mentor – approximately 2.5 hours

Mentoring

1. Choose availability that fits your schedule – whether it’s 5 hours a week or just 30 minutes a month.
2. Mentor online from anywhere in the world.
3. Adjust your availability as your circumstances change.
4. Focus on mentoring subjects you’re confident in.
5. Access support from our experienced teachers and tutors.

Anyone who meets the following criteria is welcome to apply:

• Able to volunteer a minimum of three sessions per programme
• Patient, empathetic and considerate

We're looking for well-connected business professionals in Birmingham, Bristol and Manchester to become Standing Tall Connectors.

Standing Tall – What We Do

Standing Tall is a social business that helps people rebuild their lives after homelessness through a stable job, a safe home and one-to-one support across 8 UK cities. Our model works: 4 out of 5 people are in work, living independently and thriving 12 months later.

As we continue to grow, we are launching a network of volunteer Connectors to help expand our reach within the business community.

The Role

We are looking for purpose-driven professionals with strong business connections to become Standing Tall Connectors in Birmingham, Bristol and Manchester.

This is an unremunerated volunteer position for individuals who believe in our mission and want to use their local networks, influence and business connections to help more people leave homelessness behind for good.

Connectors will represent Standing Tall within local business communities, attend networking events, and build relationships with businesses that want to be part of the solution to homelessness, either as Employer Partners, providing permanent entry-level jobs, or as Mission Partners, whose investment of £1,000 + VAT over 12 months helps one person leave the streets for good.

This role is ideal for someone who:

• Is passionate about making a tangible social impact
• Enjoys connecting people and opening doors
• Has strong local business relationships
• Wants to contribute their skills and network to a meaningful cause

Key Responsibilities

The primary role of a Connector is to leverage their networks, attend relevant business events and identify opportunities to engage prospective corporate partners.

While there is no prescriptive approach to the role, Connectors are expected to help secure £12,000 + VAT of Mission Partner investment annually – enough to help 12 people leave the streets for good.

This may be achieved through a number of relationships and introductions, or through a smaller number of highly engaged partners. Our focus is on creating meaningful connections that help more businesses become part of the solution to homelessness.

Connectors are also encouraged to help identify prospective Employer Partners and facilitate introductions to the Standing Tall team.

Time Commitment

Connectors will sign up for a 12 month term that starts in July.

Generally speaking, we would anticipate that Connectors will:

• Attend approximately 1–3 business events per month
• Make introductions and connections where opportunities arise
• Participate in occasional meetings with the Standing Tall Team

We are flexible and understand availability may vary.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

We are seeking individuals who:

• Believe strongly in Standing Tall’s mission and values
• Have an established network within their local business community
• Are confident communicators and relationship-builders
• Are proactive, professional and enthusiastic
• Are comfortable attending events independently and representing Standing Tall
• Can commit time consistently throughout the year

Experience in business development, partnerships, sales, leadership, entrepreneurship or community engagement would be highly valuable.

We are Buttons & Bubbles C.I.C. and our mission is to increase inclusion and representation for the disability community across society. We offer a variety of services including bespoke characters, workshops, free resources, events, sensory trails, and more.
