Parkinson's UK provides personalised information, services and opportunities, from day one, to people affected by the condition. But, we need your help to do this.

If you're looking to meet new people and make a real difference in your local community, this role is for you. Helping to coordinate the support group in Billericay, you'll help people affected by Parkinson's to draw on invaluable support from their peers.

You'll have a chance to use and develop your administrative, leadership and communication skills - supported by local staff, to develop a programme of activities for your group.

Your expertise, insight, and passion can help us grow and innovate, so that no family is left behind when it comes to the simple joy of time away together.

About our Trustee Team

Our Trustees are a team of volunteers who use their diverse skills, experiences, and perspectives to set the strategic direction of the charity and make sure it’s doing what it was set up to do in the best possible way.

Family Holiday Charity has an ambitious strategy over the next few years, which will see us expand our services to families, develop our influencing work within the travel and leisure industry and government, and evolve our ways of working so that we can accept and use gifted breaks, travel and other services at scale, to give families who really need it a holiday.

To help us do all that we’ll need the guidance, challenge, connections, and support of all our Trustees.
Given our goals, we’re particularly looking to add the following professional skills and experiences to our team.

• HR-Focused- a Trustee who will serve as Chair of the Nomination & Remuneration Committee, providing strategic oversight of people, culture and organisational development whilst acting as the Board’s Safeguarding lead and supporting the Charity’s safeguarding assurance framework. Prior safeguarding experience is desirable but not essential.

The Commitment 

We’ll ask you to participate in four two-hour Board Meetings per year, typically in person at our office in London or remotely.We also get together for a Strategy Day in September/October, which is held on a weekday in London, and you’d need to attend that in person.

We can support with any access needs for in-person meetings.,

There are two Board sub-committees- one which focuses on our Finances and Risk, and one which considers our people (Trustees and Staff). Once you’ve settled into the role, most Trustees join one of them. They meet remotely around four  times a year.

Outside of formal meetings, you’ll be warmly encouraged to get to know the staff team, and attend fundraising events 
or other events to meet referrers, families, and supporters wherever possible.

Overall, you’ll need to be able to commit around 6 hours each month for a mix of meetings and events, contributing
your skills and perspective to projects, building your knowledge of the charity and developing as a Trustee.

Join us and help share stories that change lives

Are you passionate about storytelling, digital media and making a real difference? We’re looking for a creative and motivated volunteer to support our fundraising and communications team for one day (or more!) a week.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience while helping us connect with supporters and members of the Chilterns Neuro Centre, a charity dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by MS, Parkinson’s and strokes, empowering them to live life to the full.

As part of our friendly and collaborative team, you’ll play an important role in shaping how we communicate our impact, celebrate achievements and inspire our community.

What you’ll be doing

• Supporting the creation, editing and formatting of our fortnightly supporter and member newsletters
• Helping to plan and develop engaging social media content to promote events, campaigns and success stories
• Working closely with the Communications Manager to ensure our messaging reflects our mission and brand
• Creating or sourcing visuals, graphics and images to bring content to life
• Contributing fresh ideas for campaigns that grow engagement and expand our digital reach

Who we’re looking for

You don’t need to be an expert, just enthusiastic, reliable and keen to learn. We’d especially love to hear from you if you have:

• Strong written communication skills and a great eye for detail
• An interest in digital marketing, social media or content creation
• Familiarity with tools like Mailchimp or social platforms (a bonus, not essential)
• Basic design skills (e.g. Canva) are desirable but not required
• The confidence to work independently and take initiative
• A genuine passion for supporting charitable causes

Volunteer Trustee Opportunity – Castel Froma Neuro Care

Are you passionate about making a difference in specialist neurological care?
Castel Froma Neuro Care is seeking dedicated and skilled individuals to join our Board of Trustees. This is a rewarding opportunity to support a well-respected charity that delivers specialist care and rehabilitation for adults living with complex neurological conditions.

Who We Are
Castel Froma Neuro Care is an award-winning registered charity and company providing person-centred nursing care, rehabilitation, respite and long-term care for adults with brain injuries and neurological conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease and Motor Neurone Disease across our two specialist centres in Royal Leamington Spa, Warwickshire.

The Role – Trustee

Trustees play a vital role in ensuring Castel Froma Neuro Care is well-governed, financially sustainable and focused on its charitable purpose.

Working collectively as part of the Board, Trustees are responsible for:

· Setting and overseeing the charity’s strategic direction, mission and values

· Ensuring high standards of governance, accountability and ethical leadership

· Safeguarding the charity’s reputation, assets and long-term sustainability

· Ensuring the charity continues to deliver high-quality services that meet the needs of residents and families

· Ensure the charity complies with charity law requirements and other laws that apply to your charity

Trustees are not involved in day-to-day operations, but provide strategic oversight, scrutiny and guidance, acting at all times in the best interests of the charity and its beneficiaries.

Please note that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be required for this role.

Our Associate Trustee Induction Model

We recognise that becoming a trustee is a significant responsibility and are committed to supporting new Trustees to succeed.

All new Trustees therefore begin in an Associate Trustee role as part of a structured and supportive induction process. This allows individuals to gain insight and confidence before taking on full legal responsibilities.

As an Associate Trustee, you will:

· Attend Board and Committee meetings in a non-voting capacity

· Receive a structured induction covering governance, legal duties, strategy, finance and our services

· Be paired with an experienced Trustee buddy for mentoring and support

· Have time to understand the charity, its culture and expectations of the role

Following this induction period, Associate Trustees will be invited to take up full trustee responsibilities, subject to mutual agreement.

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from individuals with:

✔ A strategic mindset and good independent judgement
✔ Experience in one or more of the following areas: finance/business development, information technology, clinical/health/social care, organisational governance, business development, commissioning, or lived experience of neurological conditions (including as a carer)
✔ Creativity, critical thinking and willingness to contribute to board decisions

We are particularly keen to improve the diversity of our Board and encourage applications from individuals from minority ethnic backgrounds, and people with disabilities.

Time Commitment

· Four Board meetings per year (flexible meeting times depending on boards members)

·  Four sub-committee meetings per year (flexible meeting times depending on boards members)

· Attendance at inspection visits, 2-4 times a year.
