Bowel Cancer UK is the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity. They support and fund targeted research, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease, and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care.
Bowel Cancer UK is entering a defining period for the charity. Their strategy places bold focus on early diagnosis, improved treatment and care, accelerating research, and ensuring that every voice—especially those less often heard—shapes their direction.
About the Trustee opportunities:
We are seeking three talented and committed Trustees with a particularly interested in hearing from candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Professional healthcare (not only medics) with experience in research and caring for bowel cancer patients
- Fundraising / income generation
The charity is also keen for the Board to reflect more fully the UK-wide nature of their role and work, noting particularly that they don’t currently have a Board Member from Wales, as well as groups disproportionately affected by bowel cancer. For example, research shows that:
- Women are more likely than men to be diagnosed with bowel cancer in an emergency setting. These are often at a later stage, when bowel cancer is harder to treat.
- Black people are more likely than white people to be diagnosed in an emergency setting, when bowel cancer is harder to treat.
- People from ethnic minority groups have a lower participation rate in the bowel cancer screening programme than white people.

Our vision is rooted in compassion and driven by the desire to support vulnerable children, Those with disabilities, improving medical care and supporting the elderly in Uganda with dignity, love, and sustainanble support. The foundation provides a safe home for orphans and vulnerable children. In addition to daily care, the team rganizes regular outreach missions in nearby communities, delivering essential goods such as clothing, food, and basic medical aid to those who need it most.
WORK
The program of your custom project will be tailored to the duration of your stay and your skills and may include the following components:
* Participarte in outreach trips in the community and provide basic needs such as clothing and food.
*Spend time with the children: reading, playing, teaching or just listening.
*Provide educational or health-related support {if you have the right skills}.
*Share daily life with the community and bring joy and connection.
STAY
Volunteers will be accomodated in a hotel/guesthouse near the project site. All basic amenities will be available. Meals can be provided entirely or partially at the project site, upon request.
SPARE TIME
In the evenings your free to explore the surrounding area and visit surrounding towns or explore nature.
TRAVEL
The nearest airport is Entebbe, where you will be met by the project partner.

Fundraising advisors wanted to support East London Waterworks Park in developing and implementing our fundraising strategy.
East London Waterworks Park is a volunteer-led charity that has won a 2024 New London Architecture award and raised £2m towards buying land from the Department for Education to transform the 14-acre Thames Water Depot on Lea Bridge Road on the border of Waltham Forest and Hackney, into a new biodiverse park with natural swimming ponds, forest schools and community spaces.
If you are a professional fundraiser and would like to help but are short on time, we would love to hear from you even if you are unable to get deeply involved. We would appreciate one-off or ongoing advice on the phone, online or in person. We would welcome feedback on our fundraising strategy and past applications, any advice about trust and grant fundraising, and any other advice you can give.
The Fundraising Circle currently meets fortnightly on a Thursday evening on Google Meet and spends voluntary time outside of the meeting completing agreed tasks remotely. We understand that people may not have a lot of time to give, so we want to find volunteers who could give us one-off or ongoing strategic advice and support.
If you have experience in funding strategy, writing grants for funding applications, corporate fundraising, philanthropy, or any other aspect of fundraising, it would be great to hear from you.
East London Waterworks Park is an exciting and ambitious project that offers many rewarding opportunities for our volunteers. You will have a significant impact on the creation of a new biodiverse community-owned park with free access natural swimming ponds and forest schools.
By leading fundraising projects that explore how diverse professionals (architects, ecologists, web developers, community researchers etc.) collaborate to shape community infrastructure, volunteers will directly contribute to the development of a park that truly reflects the needs and desires of the local community.

Objective
ZAKKI is seeking an experienced digital and social media professional with a background in brand visibility and awareness, increasing followers and engagement, and authoring and curating brand-centric content that’s in line with style, voice, and tone. Context
ZAKKI is a social startup focusing on creating an inclusive community for the elderly and people with disabilities. Our mission is to facilitate alms and donations collection and distribution to help the elderly and people with disabilities who work in the informal sector to get better livelihood through micro-business management, giving them greater market exposure.
Currently, we are still redesigning ZAKKI fully function product. We are expecting to develop the ZAKKI fully function product in the upcoming years.

Engagement Description
The Content Creator will actively develop ZAKKI’s brand engagement across website and social media channels including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and others. About us
UpCycle, works with individuals in prisons and young people at risk in marginalised communities. We use bicycle maintenance workshops to help build life skills, enhance employability, prevent offending and reoffending, and foster social reintegration. We also offer lead rides, bike fit-it sessions and other ways to engage with vulnerable people.
In prisons
· We delivered 956 un-refurbished bikes and received back 768 refurbished bikes across eight prisons and one Young Offenders Institution, training over 238 individuals.
In the Community
· Over 1034 bikes were donated to our Community Bike Shop, of those we refurbished and distributed more than 612 to underserved communities locally and overseas.
· Workshops in Bradford engaged 361 participants in diverse cycling-related activities across the area.
· "Bike to the Future" and other initiatives reached 220 young people with more complex needs.
We believe everyone deserves a better future. We prevent people from being pulled into crime and help those already in the system find paths out.

Our monthly team gatherings are full of testimonies of how God is working amongst the communities least likely to hear the Gospel, and our deep conviction is that much more needs to be done – and can be done – at this urgent hour for London.
We are seeking to make up to five appointments; a mixture of Trustees (likely time commitment: 10-12 days a year) and Independent Sub-Committee Members (likely time commitment: 4 days a year). Individuals who bring expertise in one or more of the following areas:
Safeguarding – someone with safeguarding expertise who can provide strategic oversight, ensure robust policies and reporting procedures, and champion a culture of safety across the organisation.
HR - someone with HR expertise who can support organisational people practices, strengthen workforce policies, and provide strategic insight on recruitment, performance, and staff wellbeing.

The Work Rights Centre (WoRC) is a frontline charity dedicated to ending precarious work and social exclusion. Since 2016, we have supported thousands of migrants and disadvantaged Britons to recover unpaid wages, fight workplace discrimination, and secure their immigration status. We don’t just handle individual cases; we use our frontline evidence to advocate for systemic change through research and policy engagement. In 2025 alone, we recovered over £170k for exploited workers and supported hundreds in understanding and securing their status in the UK.
What time commitment is expected?
The Board of Trustees meets four times a year. The meetings are held online, typically lasting 90 min. Our annual Vision Day is held in person, with some sessions that Trustees can join remotely. It is a precious opportunity for trustees to join all staff in reviewing key achievements, reflect on the year ahead, and begin formulating strategic objectives. Once a quarter before every main board meeting, a small Resource Committee (including theTreasurer and Deputy CEO) meets to review the charity’s financial position and fundraising targets.

- Inspire and inform – Creating content that motivates individuals to live more sustainably and engage with nature, while highlighting inclusive and equitable access to green spaces.
- Support fundraising and outreach – Boosting awareness of our community projects and helping us reach potential donors, supporters, and participants.
- Celebrate diversity and belonging – Representing the wide range of people we welcome at Willowbrook, and promoting our inclusive approach to Earth stewardship.
- Build momentum during our rebuild phase – As we relaunch after a period of dormancy, your work will be instrumental in reigniting interest and engagement with our charity.

We don’t believe in KPIs or harsh targets; that’s not our style. What this looks like in the marketing team
In practice, you’ll join a supportive creative team that shares story leads, swaps ideas, and helps each other refine drafts. We celebrate curiosity, voice, and progress, not just outcomes. We’ll agree on simple, shared goals and light check-ins so everyone knows where we’re heading, but we won’t impose arbitrary targets or dashboards. If a post doesn’t land or a campaign underperforms, we treat it as learning—not failure—and we improve it together. Yours and our wellbeing and growth matter to us as much as the content we publish. We understand that content engagement takes time and effort to develop.
How we create together
You’ll have space to research, think, and craft clear, accessible writing across channels (web, email, social, print or channels you have been assigned to). We work from short creative briefs, friendly peer reviews, and a living style guide, so you’re never writing in a vacuum. We co-create with programme colleagues and volunteers, turning real experiences into stories, explainers, and resources that help people connect with our mission.
Ethical, inclusive storytelling
We take ethical marketing seriously. We prioritise respectful, consent-based storytelling, plain language, and accessibility (e.g., clear structure, alt text, readable layouts). We’d rather publish fewer, stronger pieces that we’re proud of than chase volume for the sake of a metric. You’ll have time to fact-check and shape narratives that are honest, strengths-based, and aligned with our values.

Bring your ideas! Pitch topics, test formats, and iterate. We’ll back you with constructive feedback, and opportunities to grow your craft while keeping our shared focus on meaningful content that supports the communities we serve.

About the role?
Our Trustees play a critical role in the organisation, helping set the strategy and review progress in relation to it, providing support, challenge and expertise to the Chief Executive and Directors.
A Trustee plays an essential role in seeking to maximise VoiceAbility’s positive impact as well as to stretch and hold to account the Chief Executive.
The role also has ultimate responsibility for the compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, as well as ensuring that the organisation acts in line with its charitable objectives and is financially stable. Trustees work as a team, applying good judgement and taking collective responsibility.
About you
We are looking for a Trustee with sound independent judgement, strategic vision and the ability to think creatively. You will embody the organisations values and act in the best interests of the charity at all times.
You will be engaged and motivated by the work of VoiceAbility and be able to build strong relationships and have experience of working as a non-Executive director or Trustee; however, lived experience is equally important.
We are seeking to recruit Trustees who bring Expertise in Finance, Safeguarding, Human Resources, Commercial and Operational Delivery.
Time commitment
Approximately one day per month. Please note that this time commitment will be spread across multiple days and is likely to be cyclical.
There are four board meetings per annum. Board meetings tend to be online, but face-to-face, or hybrid meetings may take place from time to time. There would also be a commitment of two to four committee meetings per annum, a board strategy or development day and site visits. Each trustee will also belong to at least one committee.

The Institute of Conservation (Icon) is seeking an enterprising and passionate supporter of cultural heritage to chair our Board of Trustees through an ambitious period of growth and change.
This fulfilling role will appeal to a people focused individual, who will welcome the opportunity to actively engage with Icon's membership and the wider heritage sector. We are looking for the skills and ambition to support us as we establish a new strategy to champion conservation and deliver sustainable financial growth to support our charitable objectives.
About the Role
The Chair’s responsibilities include those of all Icon Trustees, with the additional operational responsibilities:
- Providing leadership to the Board in its strategic and policy role
- Chairing the Board and other meetings to facilitate positive discussion and development
- Ensuring the Board fulfils its legal and charitable responsibilities for the governance of Icon
- Establishing a constructive working relationship with the Chief Executive
- Appraising the performance of the Chief Executive and the Trustees
- Advocating for Icon and conservation via public speaking appointments at Icon events and within the wider heritage sector
- Supporting Icon’s petition for Royal Charter through stakeholder engagement activity

Reliable Media brings together the Stop Funding Hate and Stop Funding Heat campaigns under one organisational umbrella.
Our mission is to make hate and climate misinformation unprofitable by persuading advertisers to stop funding media outlets and platforms that spread harmful narratives. We believe advertising shapes culture and that, by disrupting the financial incentives behind harmful media, we can build an information ecosystem that is inclusive, accountable and climate responsible.

We are currently seeking new voluntary Board members to strengthen our governance and support the next stage of our mission to make hate and climate misinformation unprofitable.
At this point in time, we are especially looking to appoint:
- A Treasurer to provide strategic financial oversight and support long-term sustainability and
- A Board Member with Legal expertise to help us take informed, proportionate risks and navigate a complex media landscape.
We want to ensure that diverse voices are at the heart of our Board. We’d especially welcome applications from racialised communities, people from ethnic minority backgrounds, LGBTQ+ people, disabled people, people from minority faith backgrounds, including those disproportionately targeted by harmful or discriminatory media narratives.
Being a Board Member may be voluntary but it’s still a real commitment. We meet quarterly, stay in regular contact between meetings and must be willing to be legally (and publicly) responsible for a high-profile campaigning organisation. Board Members are also engaged in various working groups, such as fundraising, governance or DEI or offer short-term ad hoc support where they have relevant expertise. But it’s hugely rewarding. You would be helping to ensure Reliable Media continues to challenge harmful media narratives, shift industry norms and make hate and climate misinformation unprofitable.
