Trustees, including a treasurer, are needed for a leading charity helping people with dissociative disorders.
CDS UK (Clinic for Dissociative Studies) is a specialist service offering assessments and treatment for people with dissociative disorders and an independent charitable provider to the NHS.
CDS provides diagnosis, outpatient treatment, clinical supervision, consultancy and training all over the UK. We also participate in research and education, contributing to what we hope is a greater understanding of dissociative disorders.
Dissociative disorders typically arise in response to extreme and repetitive trauma and/or abuse in early childhood. Dissociation can be a survival mechanism and adaptive response to overwhelming and traumatic experiences, enabling an individual to endure life events that no one person could be expected to manage without a severe impact on their wellbeing. Trustees are central to ensuring that CDS provides the best possible help for extremely vulnerable clients.
At CDS, we are committed to a culture of continuous improvement and organisational development, ensuring that our services, people, and governance evolve to meet the needs of those we support. Our work is grounded in our core values of Respect, Choice, Compassion, Openness and Working Together, which shape how we collaborate, make decisions, and deliver impact.
To build a well-balanced and rounded board CDS is looking for trustees, including a treasurer, with expertise in any of the following:
- Accountancy and/or auditing experience
- Financial management and strategy
- Clinical & clinical management experience
- Legal and governance
- Fundraising
- Marketing
- Organisational development
We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive Board that reflects the communities we serve. We welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds, particularly those who are currently underrepresented at trustee level, including people from diverse ethnic backgrounds, younger people, disabled people, LGBTQ+ individuals, and those with lived experience relevant to our work.
Closing date 9th October. Interviews will take place via MS Teams w/b 12th October.

- Participate in Board committees, including the Care Services and Research Committee
- Advise on developments within the clinical, healthcare and research landscape for MND
- Support opportunities for collaboration across healthcare, academia, research, policy and social care
- Act as an ambassador for the MND Association and its values

- Ability to interpret complex clinical and scientific evidence and apply it to strategic decision-making
- Commitment to improving the lives and experiences of people with MND and those affected by the disease
- An appreciation of the importance of lived experience in shaping organisational priorities, services and decision-making
- Ability to contribute effectively at Board level through strategic thinking and sound judgement
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly
- High levels of integrity, independence of thought and commitment to good governance
- Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, and ability to fulfil the trustee time commitment
Desirable
- Leadership experience within specialist MND services, centres or multidisciplinary care settings
- Experience influencing MND research, care, service development or policy
- Experience improving the quality, accessibility or consistency of care for people affected by MND
- Experience building partnerships across healthcare, academia, research, policy or the voluntary sector
- Previous trustee, governance, advisory or board-level experience
Please note: The Clinical Trustee role is a voluntary, unpaid trustee appointment. Reasonable expenses incurred while carrying out trustee duties will be reimbursed in line with the MND Association's policies. Board meetings take place four times a year, with an annual Board Away Day. The Clinical Trustee is also expected to sit on the Care Services and Research Committee, which meets four times a year online.

Chair of the Board — United St Saviour's Charity
For almost 500 years, we've supported Southwark's communities. Now we're looking for a new Chair to help lead our next chapter — including delivering the RIBA Stirling Prize-winning legacy of Appleby Blue into a bold ten-year strategy.
United St Saviour's Charity is a place-based community investor in Southwark, providing almshouses, grant-funding and community programmes that build resilience and connection across the borough. Over the last decade we've nearly doubled our housing provision and delivered Appleby Blue — a social housing development for older people that went on to win the RIBA Stirling Prize, the UK's most prestigious architecture award.
This role is for you if:
- You have board leadership experience, ideally including previous experience chairing a board or significant committee
- You've held senior leadership roles within a medium-to-large charity or purpose-driven organisation, ideally through periods of growth, complexity or strategic change
- You bring strength in one or more of: housing and property development, organisational governance, community development, or finance and accounting
- You have a genuine, lived or learned understanding of Southwark and its communities
- You're as comfortable challenging and questioning as you are supporting — leading with influence rather than authority
What you'll do
As Chair, you'll lead our Board of Trustees and work in close partnership with our Chief Executive, Martyn Craddock, providing support, guidance and constructive challenge to help the organisation deliver its strategic plan. You'll ensure the charity remains well governed, financially sustainable, and focused on delivering lasting impact for the people of Southwark — while acting as an ambassador for our values, purpose and reputation, including in situations that require urgent decision-making.
You'll be joining at a pivotal moment: we're scaling up our housing development pipeline, delivering a new Community Investment Strategy for 2025–2030, and increasingly being asked to share what we've learned with other boroughs and housing providers as our national influence grows.
Location and time commitment
Based in the London Borough of Southwark — Board and committee meetings take place at our offices and almshouses. This is a voluntary role (reasonable expenses met) requiring approximately 2–3 days a month, including four Board meetings a year, a Strategy and Reflection Day, and membership of one to two committees.
How to apply
Send a CV and covering letter to Alison Benzimra, Director of Strategy and Operations by 14 October 2026, setting out why you're interested and how your skills, experience and background fit what we're looking for. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview with a panel drawn from the Board in 23 November 2026.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.

Founding Director of People, Culture & HR Innovation
Help us fix HR today — and design what HR becomes tomorrow.
We are looking for an experienced HR leader who is ready to do something very different.
Someone who understands HR, but also sees where it has become too bureaucratic, too process-driven and too disconnected from the creativity, ambition and humanity of the people it is supposed to support.
This is not a conventional HR management role.
This is a high-stakes founding opportunity to help rebuild our HR function from the ground up — while working with a team to design an entirely new, people-first way of working that could challenge the status quo.
The opportunity
Our immediate mission is practical: clean up, strengthen and professionalise our existing HR department.
That means looking honestly at what currently exists, identifying what works, what does not, what is missing and what has become unnecessarily complicated — then putting the right structures, policies, processes, governance and people practices in place.
But that is only the beginning.
Alongside fixing today's HR function, you will help us design the blueprint for the next generation of HR: an open-source HR platform and new way of working designed around people, creativity, innovation, development, fairness, accountability and better organisational culture.
We believe HR should be more than policies, procedures and risk management.
People are not processes.
Organisations should be places where people can think, create, challenge, develop, contribute and do meaningful work — while still having strong structures, accountability and professional standards.
We want to explore what HR could look like if we designed it around that principle from the beginning.
Two connected missions
1. Fix and strengthen HR today
You will initially help us:
-
Review the existing HR function, structures and practices
-
Identify gaps, weaknesses, risks and unnecessary bureaucracy
-
Establish appropriate HR policies, procedures and governance
-
Strengthen recruitment and onboarding
-
Improve employee experience and people support
-
Develop better approaches to performance, learning and development
-
Ensure appropriate employment practices and HR compliance
-
Create systems that can scale as the organisation grows
-
Help build a strong people and culture foundation
2. Help invent HR for tomorrow
At the same time, you will work with the founding team to explore and develop:
-
A blueprint for a new open-source HR platform
-
A people-first approach to organisational design
-
New approaches to employee voice and participation
-
Better models for creativity, innovation and collaboration
-
New approaches to leadership and personal development
-
Psychological safety and healthy organisational culture
-
Fairness, accountability and transparency
-
The appropriate use of technology and AI in HR
-
New ways of measuring organisational health and employee experience
-
A framework that other organisations could potentially adopt, adapt and build upon
The ambition is not simply to improve HR within one organisation.
It is to ask:
What would HR look like if we were brave enough to redesign it properly?
You will be joining at a stage where there is significant work to do, significant problems to solve and significant things yet to be built.
That is precisely what makes the opportunity different.
For the right person, this could become a paid founding leadership position as the organisation develops, funding is secured and the wider structure is operationalised.
We are looking for someone who sees the potential in that journey rather than simply looking for an established job description and a finished organisation to step into.
This is an opportunity to:
build something.
lead something.
invent something.
leave a legacy.
If you have spent years watching organisations operate in ways that you knew could be better — and quietly thinking “someone should really change this” — this may be your opportunity to actually be one of the people who does.
You will not be doing it alone.
You will have the opportunity to build and work alongside a founding team, bring ideas into reality, test new approaches, learn from what does and does not work, and help shape something that can grow beyond its original founders.
The legacy opportunity
We are particularly interested in people who want their work to mean something beyond another position on a CV.
The long-term ambition is to create something that can be shared, developed and potentially adopted by others.
If successful, the HR model you help create could become part of a much larger body of work — something that demonstrates that organisations can be both high-performing and deeply human.
That is the opportunity.
Not to inherit someone else's HR system.
To help invent a better one.
Who we are looking for
You may be an experienced:
-
HR Director
-
Head of People
-
People & Culture Director
-
HR Transformation Leader
-
Organisational Development Leader
-
Senior HR Consultant
-
HR strategist or practitioner
You should have substantial practical HR experience and understand the realities of employment, governance, organisational risk and people management.
But experience alone is not enough.
We want someone who:
-
Thinks critically about conventional HR
-
Is comfortable challenging established thinking
-
Can distinguish between necessary structure and unnecessary bureaucracy
-
Is genuinely people-centred
-
Understands organisational design and culture
-
Can move between strategy and practical implementation
-
Has an interest in innovation, technology and AI
-
Is capable of building systems rather than simply operating them
-
Can work collaboratively with founders and other senior leaders
-
Is comfortable working in an environment where not everything has already been figured out
-
Wants to create, experiment and improve — not simply maintain the status quo
Most importantly, you should want to build something.
What we can offer
This is initially a voluntary founding leadership opportunity during Phase 1, as the organisation develops its foundations, structures, funding and operating model.
However, the intention is that the right founding leaders can have the opportunity to progress into substantive paid leadership positions as the organisation grows and the relevant funding and operational capacity are secured.
This is therefore an opportunity to get involved early, have genuine influence over the direction of the organisation and potentially grow with what you help build.
You will have the opportunity to:
-
Shape the HR function from an early stage
-
Work directly with the founding leadership team
-
Influence organisational culture from the beginning
-
Help develop an original HR model
-
Build a team around the work as the organisation grows
-
Contribute to something with potential beyond the organisation itself
-
Establish yourself as a founding leader in an emerging model of people and organisational practice
-
Progress into a paid founding leadership positionh

- Finance and accounting — accounting, financial management, investment portfolios, and managing financial risk responsibly
You don't need all four — one or more is enough. Alongside that, we're looking for a strong lived or learned understanding of Southwark and the communities we serve, and a good level of IT literacy. No previous trustee or board experience is required.
Location and time commitment
Based in the London Borough of Southwark — Board and committee meetings take place at our offices and almshouses. This is a voluntary role (reasonable expenses met) requiring four Board meetings a year, a Strategy and Reflection Day, and membership of one to two committees, each typically meeting four times a year.
How to apply
Send a CV and covering letter to Alison Benzimra, Director of Strategy and Operations, by 14 October 2026, setting out why you're interested and how your skills, experience and background fit what we're looking for. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview with a panel drawn from the Board in November 2026.
