What is a Branch Fundraiser?
As part of a local team, our fundraisers represent SSAFA at events, and in public. The role includes helping at fayres, street collections, concerts, quizzes, raffles, sporting events etc.
Why do we need you?
We’ve been supporting the Armed Forces community since 1885. Our clients come from all backgrounds and age groups and may have served in WW2 or in a more recent conflict like the Falklands or Afghanistan.
There are SSAFA branches throughout the UK and overseas who support local volunteers to deliver services to veterans, serving personnel and their families. Some branches are divided into smaller divisions to ensure the best local service delivery. Each branch has a team of volunteer caseworkers, support volunteers, executive roles, and fundraisers.
SSAFA branches rely on regular charitable income to fund all the necessities behind our support for clients. This includes volunteer travel expenses, phone bills, publicity, and grants for clients in urgent need. A varied programme of fundraising also keeps the SSAFA profile high in the local community, so everyone knows who we are and how we can help.
When would you be needed and where would you be based?
This role involves being out and about at public events and would suit someone looking to give the occasional day, half day or evening to support SSAFA; when and where would be flexible to suit you.
What would you be doing?
- Be part of a team with collection/buckets tins at events, supermarkets, shopping centres, etc.
- Acting as a marshal at a public event e.g., handing out water to runners, supervising parking etc.
- Being part of a team running a stall at an event, Armed Forces Day, fayre, county show etc.
- Helping with putting up posters, building gazebos, serving refreshments, packing/unpacking cars etc.
- Being a positive ambassador for SSAFA, engaging people of all backgrounds and interests
- Volunteering within the standards and values of SSAFA including observing our policies such as the Volunteering policy and data protection policy (these will be covered in your training and local induction.)
The remit of this role may change over the next 12-18 months depending on the outcome of a trial currently being undertaken.

The Position
We are looking for a Grants Officer who can support us with diverse tasks that include looking for grants opportunities, project development, proposals writing, and liaising with potential partners and donors. In this role you’ll be a key contributor to the continued existence of Second Tree, which is dependent on grants to survive, and to the creation of new projects and partnerships. To do this successfully, you'll need to employ meticulous time-management and organisation skills, as juggling multiple tasks with competing deadlines is common in this role.
The role will include:

Researching and identifying new grant opportunities on a weekly basis

Summarising relevant grant opportunities and suggesting how to best respond and comply with them

Researching information and data necessary for grants and grant reporting

Supporting the design of new projects

Supporting with proposal writing

Maintaining necessary records, files, reports, databases, and resource materials for the Grants team

Working with the wider Second Tree team to ensure that all project proposals align with organisational, and programme strategies

Establishing and maintaining connections with funding bodies

Bath Area Play Project are passionate about every child's right to play and enabling children to thrive. We are looking for a Chair of our small Trustee Board to support our vision and ethos, enabling the continuation of our support services for children and families, leading strategic oversight and ensuring we are resilient for change.
Our volunteer Trustees meet early evening, every 6 - 8 weeks, alternating in person in Bath and online. They are responsible for ensuring we are compliant with operational management delegated to the Director and other staff, allowing them to focus on governance and strategic decision making. There are 8 Trustee Meetings each year, alternating in person in Bath and online which includes our AGM. The Community Moderation & Safety Lead exists to ensure that our online and digital communities remain safe, boundaried, respectful, and trauma-informed, without becoming policed, silencing, or extractive.
This is not a passive moderation role. It is a systems and safety leadership role.
Purpose of the Role
This role is responsible for:
- Protecting members from harm.
- Preventing retraumatisation.
- Upholding community standards.
- Supporting moderators and volunteers.
- Ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed in real time
The role-holder ensures that the community does not drift into chaos, harm, or uncontained disclosure.

Experience Qualification and Requirements
Essential experience
- Experience in community moderation or community management, online or offline, with responsibility for maintaining healthy and safe spaces.
- Experience working in safeguarding, pastoral care, support, or risk-aware roles, where sensitive conversations and boundaries matter.
- Experience in trauma-informed or survivor-led contexts, or demonstrated ability to communicate safely and respectfully around sensitive topics.
- Experience responding to harmful behaviour, conflict, harassment, or boundary violations, including knowing when to escalate.
- Experience maintaining clear records/logs (incident notes, actions taken, outcomes) with professionalism and attention to confidentiality.
Essential skills
- Strong ability to set and uphold boundaries and community standards consistently, without escalating conflict or causing harm.
- Excellent judgement in identifying risk indicators, prioritising urgent concerns, and following escalation pathways precisely.
- Calm, respectful communication style with the ability to handle challenging conversations and emotionally difficult content.
- Strong written skills for incident documentation, summaries for escalation, and clear guidance to moderators and volunteers.
- Ability to lead and support volunteers: coaching, clarifying decisions, improving consistency, and encouraging good practice.
- High attention to detail and commitment to privacy, safeguarding, and data integrity in all moderation activity.
- Confidence working with systems, checklists, and protocols, and improving them based on what is happening in practice.
Desirable (not essential)
- Experience with youth work, social care, mental health services, or safeguarding-led community organisations.
- Experience moderating forums or social platforms, including handling DMs, comment moderation, and reporting/flagging systems.
- Experience collaborating with safeguarding and content approval teams, or contributing to guidelines and policy development.
Training / qualifications
- Formal safeguarding training is desirable but not essential.
- Training and clear CIC-specific protocols will be provided.
Main Responsibilities/ Key Duties
- Design and oversee community moderation systems across platforms, ensuring consistent standards, clear workflows, and survivor-centred safety practices.
- Develop and maintain community guidelines covering acceptable conduct, boundaries, tone-of-voice, confidentiality expectations, and consequences for breaches.
- Create and manage escalation pathways so volunteers can respond quickly to risk, route concerns correctly, and avoid delays or unsafe handling of disclosures.
- Lead and support volunteer moderators and facilitators through onboarding, coaching, decision support, and ensuring consistent moderation decisions across spaces.
- Monitor community spaces for safeguarding concerns, harmful or abusive language/behaviour, boundary violations, and patterns of escalating risk.
- Act as the first escalation point for high-risk conversations and disclosures that may require safeguarding action, ensuring urgent concerns are prioritised.
- Coordinate closely with key safeguarding stakeholders including the Safeguarding Officer, Content Approval & Safeguarding Coordinator, and Membership Director to align decisions and prevent gaps.
- Take appropriate moderation action in line with protocols (e.g., warnings, content removal, access restrictions, referral/escalation), while maintaining a calm and consistent approach.
- Maintain incident logs and moderation records that are accurate, timely, confidential, and suitable for internal review and accountability.
- Review patterns of harm or risk (themes, repeat users, platform weaknesses, vulnerable moments) and recommend improvements to guidelines, systems, volunteer training, and prevention controls.
This role is not suitable if you:
- Avoid conflict or boundary-setting.
- Want purely creative or social engagement.
- Are seeking unstructured peer support roles.
- Are unable to step back emotionally when required.

Overview of the Branch Treasurer opportunity
We are looking for someone to volunteer as a Branch Treasurer for our OXFORDSHIRE Branch. This role would play a vital role in supporting the Branches affairs so that it is governed and managed effectively, whilst continually having animal welfare at the forefront of their mind.
As a minimum, trustees would generally attend a monthly committee meeting lasting some 1-2 hours. However, the commitment may vary depending on whether the trustee takes on additional duties.

The RSPCA OXFORDSHIRE Branch
The OXFORDSHIRE Branch was founded in 1875, we are also a separately registered charity looking after animals in our local area. Much of the animal welfare work of RSPCA is carried out through local branches, which is run by our Operations Manager and a team of volunteers who have the support of the National Society of RSPCA.
The main activity of our branch is on rescue, rehabilitate and rehome animals, we take in the animals the Inspectors rescue from cruelty and neglect, we provide them with the veterinary attention, love and care, then we find them loving new homes. We also to help members of the public with financial assistance for their animals for neutering, microchipping and unexpected veterinary fees
Primary responsibilities of the Branch Treasurer
- Implement and maintain sound financial systems.
- Take a lead role in ensuring the committee set annual financial budgets and plan the branch income and expenditure.
- Provide a written financial report for every branch meeting.
- Liaise with auditors/independent examiners regarding the production of the annual branch accounts and treasurer’s report.
- Maintain control of all bank accounts as authorised by the committee.
- Execute and operate branch committee financial decisions and act as branch co-signatory.
- Maintain control over all branch paying-in books and receipt books and to ensure their correct use.
- In the absence of a branch box secretary, to assume responsibility for the branch network of collection boxes.
- Arrange payment of the annual branch contribution to the appropriate RSPCA fund.
- Coordinate financial control of all branch fundraising activities.
- Make quarterly VAT returns to headquarters promptly.
- Ensure the production, monitoring and annual review of the branch’s financial risk management strategy following the charity commission’s requirements.
- Liaise with branch officers, Branch Partnership Managers and Branch finance coordinator on Financial affairs as necessary and alert them immediately to any possible difficulties or irregularities.
- Ensure the retention and safekeeping of the branch’s financial documentation for the appropriate time as set by the charity commission.
Core Branch Trustee responsibilities
- Appreciate and support the aims and policies of the RSPCA.
- Work in conjunction with fellow trustees and branch officers and jointly act in making decisions for the best interest of the branch and the RSPCA.
- Work with national RSPCA staff to ensure that the branch meets all minimum animal welfare standards (MAWS).
- In conjunction with your fellow trustees and Branch Partnership Manager, write, adopt, monitor, and review a development plan setting out your branch's short and long-term aims.
- Actively participate in branch committee meetings and attend the branch annual general meeting and regional conference.
- Be aware of the outcome of regional board meetings and support local initiatives.
- Actively promote and advertise the society in an ongoing programme to recruit new branch trustees and volunteers and welcome new members.
- In conjunction with your fellow trustees, ensure the proper management and control of all activities and decisions relating to any premises held or staff employed by the branch if applicable.
What we are looking for in a volunteer:
- We are particularly looking for someone who has knowledge and experience in finance, who may already understand charity finance.
- As a trustee, you would be able to dedicate the time to attend monthly committee meetings, which last approximately 3 hours.
- There will be additional volunteer duties between meetings, such as; providing financial reports at committee meetings, monitoring the budget that the trustees have set for the year, processing payments, querying invoices, VAT returns, and processing Gift Aid claims.

Practical considerations
- To become a Trustee, you will need to be aged 18 or over and a member of our branch for three months before you are eligible to be elected.
- Trustees are elected for a 12-month term each year.
- Reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
- Trustees must sign a Trustee Declaration of Willingness to Act to clarify that they are not disqualified from being a trustee and read the Charity Commission’s guidance for individuals on who cannot be a trustee or senior manager of a charity.
- References will also be required.
