Overview of the role
Warrington Foodbank are seeking someone to take the lead in organising and monitoring the work of our Board of Trustees, liaising between members to ensure our strategy and operations remain on track. As our Secretary of Trustees you will lead the administrative duties of the Board of Trustees, ensuring that its activities are conducted within the legal requirements, with board meetings being properly administered.
Responsibilities
As a trustee you will share collective responsibility for the governance of the food bank and all decisions made by the board, ensuring the organisation is well run, fulfils its mission, is compliant with charity law and that the charity is open and accountable.
The Secretary of Trustees is responsible for leading on the administrative duties of the food bank and Board of Trustees. They will ensure that the foodbank’s activities are conducted within legal requirements, and that board meetings are properly administered. The Secretary will also lead on the development and management of policy schedules, ensuring that the Board of Trustees are aware and kept up to date regarding their legal, regulatory, and governance responsibilities.
Key tasks:

to ensure that there is a record of all Trustee Board correspondence to ensure that details of Trustee meetings are circulated to the board together with minutes of the previous meeting and any other instructions in good time to ensure the trustee board meets its legal obligations, including reporting, meeting charity and company law, as well as insurance requirements

to ensure all relevant stakeholders are informed of the annual general meeting (AGM)
-
to ensure that the annual report (to accompany the annual accounts) is produced and sent to the relevant charity regulator body (Charity Commission of England & Wales).
Other responsibilities, along with the Board of Trustees, include:

to approve, support and guide the charity’s purpose, vision, strategy, goals and objectives

to manage the charity’s resources responsibly, including ensuring the charity’s assets are used only to carry out its purpose, avoid undue risk, and not over-commit the charity

to ensure the effective and efficient administration of the charity, responding to changes in the local community as appropriate

to ensure that key risks are identified, monitored and controlled appropriately

To ensure appropriate financial plans are in place, budgets are monitored, and progress is evaluated

to review and approve financial statements

to help promote the organisation to key stakeholders and beneficiaries

to ensure the charity has appropriate procedures to comply with current legislation and good practice, including employment, health and safety, equality, diversity and inclusion, safeguarding, and GDPR compliance/data protection

to prepare for and regularly attend and participate in board and subcommittee meetings and any trustee away days.

About the role:
We are currently seeking qualified, women solicitor, barrister and qualified legal executive volunteers to provide legal advice on our Family Law advice line. All volunteering is done remotely and you must be qualified to practice in England and Wales.
What will you be doing?
We offer a safe space for women to talk about their situation and receive expert legal advice to enable them to make important decisions about their future.
For 50 years our free telephone advice lines have provided vital legal advice for women experiencing domestic abuse on issues such as protective orders, child arrangements, finances and divorce or separation.
We ask all our volunteers to:
- Provide advice on our advice lines for one 2-hour session a month (minimum);
- Attend the induction training session provided by Rights of Women;
- Give clear and accurate legal advice to callers;
- Be non-judgemental and non-discriminatory in their approach;
- Follow our procedures for making records of calls and obtaining monitoring information;
- Keep up to date with the law for the relevant advice lines;
- Attend all agreed advice line sessions (remotely);
- Inform us as soon as possible if they are unable to attend an agreed session;
- Abide by Rights of Women’s procedures, standards and policies, including equal opportunities and confidentiality in relation to staff, volunteers and users.

The qualifications and skills we look for in a volunteer are:
- A woman solicitor, barrister or CILEx member;
- A current practicing certificate;
- Ability to work remotely with adequate internet access and a private space;

RSPCA Middlesbrough, Teesside & District Branch
We are looking for a Branch Trustee & Treasurer to help us manage the RSPCA Middlesbrough, Teesside and District Branch. As a Trustee you will be a full and equal member of our leadership team, making strategies, deciding what we focus on, how we raise and spend money, organising events, working as a team to improve animal welfare in our community. As Treasurer you will take the lead in ensuring compliance, control and sound financial management of the charity.
WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
Trustees manage the charity. Like any organisation we get involved in people, finance and legal topics, making strategies and assessing which projects to support, tracking progress on animal welfare programs, working with local vets to offer more support out of hours, or making sure our volunteers are well managed and motivated. More importantly, we focus on raising funds, managing volunteers and spending money where it is needed to support animals in our community - YOUR community. So, whatever your background or skills there is a role you can play.
As Treasurer you will take the lead on developing a sustainable financial strategy, managing financial reporting, bank accounts, investments and liaising with the RSPCA national finance team. In addition, you will oversee external processes such as payroll, audit and reporting to HMRC and Charities Commission.
You may be an experienced Trustee or new to the role (we can help with training). You will be an experienced finance professional (preferably a qualified accountant) who can provide expert financial leadership and translate complex topics for those without a finance background. You will bring the ability to lead people, motivate teams of volunteers, collaborate with partners and manage change. You will be able to understand complex topics, ask logical questions and be willing to hold an organisation accountable for fulfilling its responsibilities. You will be willing to roll up your sleeves and get stuck into the details, make decisions and speak up.
This is an exciting time to join us, as we undertake significant expansion and conversion to CIO. Your voice will be heard, and you can significantly influence the direction and focus of the charity. Together we can make a huge impact on animal welfare in our community.

The E-Commerce Volunteer supports the Baby Bank’s fundraising efforts by identifying high-quality donated items suitable for online sale and preparing them for listing on e-commerce platforms.
This role focuses on product selection, quality checking, photo editing, and writing compelling product descriptions to help items find the right buyer and generate income for the Baby Bank.

About us:
Write Back is a young charity helping marginalised young people develop their self-esteem, literacy and creativity through storytelling. Currently based in Barking & Dagenham, since 2020 we have run storytelling programmes for more than 200 young people, helping them tell their stories and printing and celebrating their work. 9 out of 10 participants on our programmes see significant improvements in their self-esteem, and in our short period of operations, we have published over 20 anthologies of young writers’ work, exploring themes like immigration, identity and social isolation.
What we do:
We run 10-week long storytelling programmes in Barking and Dagenham, east London, to build self-esteem among young people aged 13-16. In each session we do confidence building activities, engage with the writing of a young author and then develop the participating young people’s own stories. The 10-week project involves developing their ideas individually and collectively and culminates with the publication of their work, including in books, local museum exhibitions and much more.
We are working with six secondary schools in Barking and Dagenham, who have been referring young people to our programmes or inviting us into their premises to run bespoke programmes for selected students Barking and Dagenham is the 9th most deprived local authority in the country and 37% of the young people and children live in poverty. Despite this recent research shows that Barking and Dagenham has the joint fewest charities per head in the country.
About the role:
Write Back has grown considerably since its founding five years ago. Now with paid part-time staff, strong local networks, secure medium-term funding and proof of impact, we are entering a new phase of organisational growth.
To oversee this, we are looking for a new Chair of Trustees to oversee a significant period of strategic choices. We are looking for someone who wants to get closely involved in setting the strategy, direction and priorities of Write Back as we transition from new ‘start-up’ into a more established charity. As a small charity, the Chair will be someone who can think ‘big picture’ but also is happy to get involved with day-to-day matters when necessary - securing new funding, overseeing our staffing model, building networks with other organisations and more. We are therefore looking for an individual with:

Experience of organisational governance (ideally experience being on a board of trustees before).

Experience in a leadership role in a growing organisation (either teams/departments or the whole organisation).

The E-Commerce Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the online sales function of the Baby Bank, ensuring that high-quality donated items are identified, prepared, listed, and sold effectively to generate fundraising income.
This role manages E-Commerce Volunteers and ensures that listings are accurate, professional, and aligned with brand standards. The Team Lead also monitors performance, pricing strategy, and workflow efficiency.

The AFRIL Experts by Experience Volunteer will support our monthly Members’ Forum, helping create a welcoming and supportive environment for participants. About the role:
We are currently seeking qualified, women solicitor, barrister and qualified legal executive volunteers to provide legal advice on our Sexual Harassment at Work (Employment Law) advice line. All volunteering is done remotely and you must be qualified to practice in England and Wales.
What will you be doing?
Our free telephone advice line provides vital legal advice for women experiencing sexual harassment at work, supported by legal advisors with experience in employment, discrimination and harassment law. We offer a safe space for women to talk about their situation and receive expert legal advice to enable them to make important decisions about their future.
We ask all our volunteers to:
- Provide advice on our advice lines for one 2-hour session a month (minimum);
- Attend the induction training session provided by Rights of Women;
- Give clear and accurate legal advice to callers;
- Be non-judgemental and non-discriminatory in their approach;
- Follow our procedures for making records of calls and obtaining monitoring information;
- Keep up to date with the law for the relevant advice lines;
- Attend all agreed advice line sessions (remotely);
- Inform us as soon as possible if they are unable to attend an agreed session;
- Abide by Rights of Women’s procedures, standards and policies, including equal opportunities and confidentiality in relation to staff, volunteers and users.

The qualifications and skills we look for in a volunteer are:
- A woman solicitor, barrister or CILEx member;
- A current practicing certificate;
- Ability to work remotely with adequate internet access and a private space;

About the Role
The HR Programme Manager is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing the HR Programme and managing the HR Liaison.
