Volunteering in the shop
Our Bournemouth Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.

Are you a creative, passionate fundraising wanting to make a differene to the lives of cats and kittens in York and the surrounding areas? Join us as a Fundraising Coordinator to support our charity's work! 

Role overview:

As the Volunteer Fundraising Coordinator, you will play a vital role in helping us raise the essential funds that keep our cat rescue work going. This position is key to ensuring we can continue to provide care, veterinary treatment, food, and a safe haven to cats in need. You will take the lead on planning and delivering fundraising activities and work closely with the wider team to help grow support for our charity.

Key responsibilities:

• Fundraising campaigns: Plan, lead and deliver creative fundraising initiatives (both online and in-person).

• Event coordination: Organise and promote fundraising events such as raffles, auctions, online events, and local community events.

• Donor engagement: Build and maintain positive relationships with donors, thanking them and keeping them informed about how their contributions are used.

• Grant applications: Identify grant and funding opportunities.

• Collaboration: Work closely with trustees, the social media team, and other volunteers to align fundraising with our campaigns and goals.

• Tracking and reporting: Keep accurate records of donations, event outcomes, and supporter engagement to help inform future planning. 

What we’re looking for:

• Fundraising experience: Previous experience in fundraising is essential – whether in a charity, community group or similar role.

• Excellent communication skills: Confident in engaging with people online, over email, and in person.

• Creative thinking: Able to bring fresh ideas and identify new opportunities for income generation.

• Organisational skills: Able to manage your time well, plan ahead, and juggle a variety of small tasks or projects — all while working within the limitations and resources of a small, volunteer-led charity.

• Passion for animal welfare: A genuine desire to help cats and support their journey to safety and adoption.

You must already be a registered HCP to apply for this role.

No one should die because they needed first aid and didn’t get it. St John Ambulance teaches people first aid so they can be the difference between life and death, and you can help us do this.

We are seeking Event Paramedics to respond to and manage emergency calls/incidents whilst attending events. At all times provide specialist, clinical, social and holistic care to undertake clinical assessment and interventions those individuals in the pre-hospital environment, which may include stadia, concerts, motorsports, road races etc. This may encompass working on both ambulances / FRV’s and within treatment units as required.

Successful candidates will be registered Paramedics with the HCPC and be able to provide evidence of CPD activity within the previous 12 months.

Family Friends carefully recruit, train, and match volunteers with families in Central-West London. Our volunteer befrienders offer practical and emotional support based on each family's unique needs and potential. We offer two volunteer opportunities - Big Buddies and Parent Buddies.

Volunteers will aim to help parents to discover their strengths, build confidence, and resolve difficulties. Volunteers meet with their match weekly for a period of up to 12 months.

Activities might include:

• Supporting a parent to take their children on days out.
• Helping to strengthen family relationships.
• Providing a listening ear.
• Helping parents to build confidence in themselves.

Essential Criteria:

• You must be able to commit to the Parent Buddy programme for a minimum of 6 months.
• 18+
• Must have lived in the UK for the last 2 years

• Weekly supervision and support

• References provided after 6 months' commitment
• Reimbursement of travel and session expenses

Every year thousands of people come together to remember and bring hope for a brighter future.  It will take a society to beat dementia and by volunteering at Memory Walk you can be a part of it.

This is a walk like no other; this is thousands of people walking for a better future for those with dementia. Join the volunteer team on Saturday 26th September at Bute Park, in Cardiff.

There is something for everyone, with roles based in the event site and along the route. Be part of an unforgettable event experience as you cheer at a marshal point, follow the route as a back marker, sell some goodies or congratulate walkers with their finish line medal. You will have the opportunity to pair up with a friend or another volunteer and we’ll make sure you have everything you need!

As a charity we can continue to help cats and kittens in need thanks to the donations we receive at fundraising events from generous members of the public. Our fundraising event helpers have the exciting and varied role of helping at local fundraising events - such as cakes sales, barn dances, quiz nights – and everything in between!

You can expect us to

What we need from you

You’ll be:

· help set up and/or man stalls at events

· help on collection days like supermarket collections events or street collections

· help at fundraising events such as quiz nights, cake sales and dances

· promoting a professional image of Cats Protection at events

Time expectation

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.

Treasurer Trustee

Join the Board of Blue Smile 

• Board meetings are held 6 times a year, online

• Finance Committee – meetings are held six times a year, online

This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional who wants to use their skills for social impact while contributing to the governance and strategic leadership of a respected local charity. 

About the Role 

As Treasurer Trustee, you will be the Board's lead on financial governance and oversight, working closely with fellow trustees and the Charity Director. The role is strategic rather than operational and focuses on ensuring good financial management, sustainability and compliance. 

You will: 

• Support the Board in understanding and fulfilling its financial responsibilities.

• Chair finance committee meetings. 

• Review management accounts and monitor financial performance.

• Oversee budgeting, reserves and financial planning.

• Help identify and manage financial risks.

• Support the approval of annual accounts and financial reports, including the independent examination. 

• Ensure the charity's resources are used effectively in pursuit of its charitable objectives.

• Contribute to the strategic direction of Blue Smile 

Who We're Looking For 

We would love to hear from you if you have: 

• A professional background in finance, accounting, banking, auditing or financial management.

• Experience of budgeting, financial reporting and financial oversight.

• The ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial audiences.

• Strong analytical skills and sound judgement.

• An interest in supporting children's mental health and wellbeing.

• A recognised accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent) and/or previous charity experience would be advantageous, but we welcome applications from individuals with transferable financial expertise.
