Crisis of Faith: 1 in 4 young Muslims are leaving the religion due to various factors, primarily the pervasive anti-religious content and temptations they encounter online and offline. 

Roots Academy exists to bridge this gap by providing a structured and transformative Islamic education that speaks directly to the needs and challenges of young Muslims today, delivered in an engaging and accessible form that removes barriers to access and provokes thought and action.

Role Summary.

Creators with Purpose is Roots Academy's community of Muslim student content creators - a hand-picked group of relatable, authentic voices using their platforms to reach and uplift Muslim students across the country.

To grow and sustain it, we're looking for a Community Manager to be the heartbeat of this community. You'll onboard new creators, run our content calendar and review process, and keep a thriving group of creators supported, inspired and consistently producing content that reaches the exact audience we exist to serve. This is a relationship-first role for someone who loves bringing people together around a shared mission.

Key tasks

• Community management - Own and energise our creator community keeping it warm, active and supportive; welcome new creators, spark introductions, and encourage creators to learn from and uplift one another.

• Onboarding - Identify and reach out to potential creators, run friendly 1-2-1 welcome calls, share the vision and welcome pack, and bring new creators into the fold with as low a barrier to entry as possible.

• Content coordination - Run the content calendar end-to-end: agree each creator's posting frequency and dates, keep the Notion tracker current.

• Creative support - Keep creators inspired with prompts, content ideas and themed series (e.g. Freshers, exam season), and offer tailored concepts to those who want them while protecting each creator's own style and voice.

• Mentorship & belonging - Coordinate regular calls with the team, and help every creator feel like a genuine part of Team Roots.

• Tracking & reporting - Track creator output and reach, monitor how creators are driving students toward Roots workshops, and report progress and feedback.

• No formal experience or qualifications required - just the right heart, attitude and willingness to learn.

Please note this is an unpaid volunteer position. 

Volunteers are entitled to claim expenses incurred for food, travel and equipment, in line with our Expenses policy.

We are looking for English teachers or tutors to provide one-to-one, group or asynchronous lessons to Palestinians aged 13+ and adults for at least 3 months. All volunteers must complete training before they begin. 

The autumn term will run from 13/09/26 to 20/12/26.

What will you be doing?

• Applying the concepts learned through trauma-informed and emergency education training. 
• Delivering weekly 90-minute lessons, plus 30–60 minutes of preparation for at least 3 months.
• Creating a supportive, positive learning environment.
• Tailoring methods to individual learner needs.

• Filling in a weekly check-in form to track attendance and student progress.

What difference will you make?

This role is crucial because it enables Palestinian students to learn English, French and German alongside volunteers from around the world. Proficiency in English opens the door to a wider range of work and educational opportunities. Students can work for humanitarian organisations on the ground or find remote opportunities thanks to their English skills. English is also essential for scholarships. Furthermore, proficiency in English enables students to contribute to their community and have their voices heard on the global stage.

Join our team as a Volunteer HR & Recruitment Assistant and play a key role in supporting our non-profit mission. Sitting within our Human Resources function, you will assist with the end-to-end volunteer recruitment process—helping us attract passionate individuals to support our core projects.

This volunteer opportunity is ideal for HR students, career changers, or experienced professionals looking to contribute their expertise to a meaningful cause while building practical recruitment experience in the social impact sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Sourcing & Outreach: Assist hiring leads with identifying volunteer staffing needs and posting role descriptions across relevant platforms.

• Candidate Engagement: Conduct initial screening discussions to evaluate candidate interest, alignment with our core values, and overall fit.

• Pipeline Management: Help build and maintain candidate records, keeping applicants informed and supported throughout the recruitment journey.

• Onboarding & Administration: Support the HR team in scheduling interviews, maintaining up-to-date volunteer records, and ensuring recruitment processes remain inclusive and compliant with equal opportunity standards.

What We Are Looking For

• An interest in or prior exposure to HR, recruitment, or talent acquisition.

• Good written and verbal communication skills, with a welcoming, professional manner.

• Basic familiarity with standard office software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

• Strong organisational skills and the ability to handle confidential information respectfully.

Programme Details

This role is offered as an unpaid volunteer placement within the Quilombo UK Professional Development Programme. The is commitment 12 hours per week (flexible across Monday to Friday) over a 16-week period to get the most out of the experience.
