The opportunity
Queen Alexandra Charity is pleased to offer you the chance to help ensure that the quality of our college, community services and supported living provision is as it should be, or better. As a co-optee to our Services Committee, you can help ensure that our students and clients receive the best support possible and we comply with requirements.
The commitment
At present, the Services Committee meets four times each year, for up to three hours each time. While we keep timing under review in the light of changing membership, this year's meetings have started at 2.00pm and all of them have been virtual. Of course, you would also need to prepare for meetings by reading papers. Co-optees also attend annual appraisal and are invited to our annual governance strategy days. For these roles, how far away you live from us is not important over time. However, we know that you would want to come on site at least at the start, to get to know us and what we do.
What we are seeking
We seek interest from people who can digest sometimes large amounts of reading and challenge the executive, and governing colleagues, on whether we are performign as well as we should. So as well as being analytical, applicants will need the necessary confidence to contribute during meetings actively and, sometimes, to defend their viewpoint. We welcome anyone with these skills but, right now, but we especially need to add to our expertise in education (especially specialist further education) and care.
The Queen Alexandra Charity, Birmingham
In addition to community services and supported living for adults, we run the Queen Alexandra College with 480 specialist further education places for people who have a diverse range of abilities and plans to grow to 700.

Being a co-optee brings a commitment that is much more limited than that for trustees/governors. If you are looking to gain experience in governance, but have limited time, this may be the manageable role that you're looking for, through which you can have a major impact as part of a rigorous, but friendly, team.

CHARITY SHOP VOLUNTEER – CUSTOMER SERVICE - LEWES
PURPOSE
To assist the Shop Manger in the running of an Age UK East Sussex Charity Shop with a focus on serving customers, driving sales and store presentation.
We are currently looking for volunteers on weekdays and weekends.

· Take credit card payments using the Streamline system
· Assist in keeping the shop clean and tidy following the cleaning rota
· Undertake other tasks as required by the Shop Manager

The Eve Appeal is the leading gynaecological cancer charity. There are five gynae cancers, which are womb, ovarian, cervical, vulval and vaginal cancer. Our aim is to prevent gynae cancers from developing in the first place, but if they do develop, we want to make sure they’re detected early so more people survive their diagnosis.
To make our goals a reality, we fund research in four key areas: uncovering the causes of gynae cancers, predicting a person’s risk of developing them, identifying how people can reduce their risk, and improving their detection and diagnosis.
We educate; we increase awareness and we provide free confidential and expert information through our Ask Eve nurse service.
We are now looking to strengthen our Board and are seeking candidates who share our commitment to driving forward medical research, raising awareness and promoting education around how these diseases can be diagnosed at the earliest stage or prevented.

You will help lead the Board’s responsibilities across all areas of governance including strategy development and staff mentoring, evaluation and impact, ensuring donor and beneficiary aspirations, commitments and needs are met and the charity is fulfilling all of its charitable objects and agreed strategic objectives.
You will work within the legal and regulatory framework set out by the Charity Commission and will be supported by the CEO and senior staff team at Eve to enable you to do this effectively. You will have exceptional communication, interpersonal and analytical skills with the confidence and ability to ensure decisions are actioned in a timely manner.

Role Description
The Press/Media Manager will work closely with the Communication Officer to lead on the Pagan Federation's media strategy. You will act as a primary point of contact for journalists, broadcasters, and media outlets working to promote positive coverage of Paganism and to respond appropriately to media interest, engaging in both proactive and reactive.
You will develop and oversee press strategies, prepare statements and press releases, brief spokespersons, and assist the organisation in sensitive communications where required. As this is a council-level role within the Pagan Federation you will be expected to provide regular reports to the Communications Officer and the Council of the Pagan Federation.
This is a voluntary role, and volunteers are expected to work remotely. We have volunteers working across England and Wales. Some travel may be necessary, reasonable expenses will be covered in line with our expenses policy.
Qualifications
- At least two years experience in the field of Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or similar. (Essential)
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy in media engagement. (Essential)
- Strong organizational and communication skills to effectively assist in strategic communications planning and discussions. (Essential)

Your Role as a Mentor
As a mentor, you will hold weekly one-on-one sessions of 1-3 hours for the duration of 12 months. You will help build confidence, resilience, and help your mentee manage feelings through a series of fun experiences and activities. Whether you’re playing games or discussing goals, you’ll be making a difference in a child’s life by developing the tools for a positive future.

And we're looking for up to four new Trustees to join our brilliant Board as we move into an exciting new chapter. With a new Chief Executive, a fresh strategic plan for 2026–2030 and lots of ambition, now is a fantastic time to get involved.
Who we’re looking for
You don’t need previous board experience to apply. What matters most to us is who you are, what you care about and the perspective you bring.
We’d especially love to hear from people with experience in:
- Finance and audit
- Social care
- Commercial or market awareness
- Lived experience of services like ours
Above all, we’re looking for people who share our values – big-hearted, open-minded, genuine, professional and determined – and who believe in social justice, equity and inclusion.
What being a Trustee involves
As a Trustee, you’ll help shape the future of PSS by:
- Sitting on our Board and one of our sub-committees
- Helping guide our strategy and decision-making
- Making sure we’re safe, sustainable and true to our values
- Working in partnership with our teammates and the people we support
The time commitment is around one day a month, plus four Board meetings a year and two away days.
