The objective of Spotlight on Africa (“SoA ”) is to improve the livelihoods and opportunities of those in need in Africa through the following activities:

To achieve its charitable purposes SoA provides grants to Spotlight on Africa-Uganda Foundation (“SoA UF”), a registered international NGO in Uganda (“SoA UF”) who execute the work and manage the activities in Eastern Uganda.
In this region we’ve built two primary schools serving 1,400 children, a health clinic treating 50,000 patients annually, and a maternity hospital delivering 1,250 babies safely each year and drilled 50 deep boreholes supplying clean water to 40,000 people. We have also built two Technology centres that provide teachers, students, health workers, and tradespeople with essential digital skills and alternative career prospects in the region which is particularly important for women. We also provide vocational training in carpentry, tailoring, agriculture, hairdressing, and borehole maintenance.
SoA continues to grow and in 2025-26 raised over £1 million from donations and fundraising events. It has strong governance provided by its UK Board of Trustees that is chaired by a King’s Counsel and by the Board of SoA-UF and its patrons who include the former Chief Justice of Uganda and the Ugandan Ambassador to the UK.
The role
As Treasurer you will chair our Finance, Risk and Audit Committee and act as the Charity’s lead voice on financial matters. Working closely with the Chair, Assistant Treasurer and SoA-UF’s Executive Director and Accountant you will help ensure SoA remains financially resilient, well-governed and delivering value by:
· Finance — overseeing our planning, budgeting and reporting processes including KPIs; guiding the Trustees and SoA-UF Board in reviewing the monthly management accounts, performance KPIs, approving annual accounts; advising on the financial implications of strategic decisions; and liaising with our external auditors.
· Risk management — providing oversight of our internal controls, financial control framework and risk register, and ensuring appropriate insurance and anti-fraud arrangements are in place. Actively managing foreign exchange risks and maximising interest income from deposits. Close stewardship and oversight of the application of grants to SoA-UF through to expenditure on its charitable activities.
· Governance — chairing the Finance Committee, leading the Trustees’ duty to ensure proper financial stewardship, and supporting compliance with Charity Commission and other regulatory requirements. Also supporting SoA-UF Board in ensuring they provide proper financial stewardship and compliance with local laws and regulations.
Who we are looking for
You will be a qualified accountant with strong commercial awareness and the ability to translate financial information clearly for a Board audience. Beyond the technical qualifications, we are looking for someone who brings:
· Experience of organisational risk management and internal controls, ideally from an international perspective
· A solid understanding of charity governance, trusteeship and the legal duties of a trustee
· Proven ability to communicate and explain financial information to non-finance colleagues and stakeholders
· The leadership skills to chair the Finance committee and bring people together around shared goals
· Willingness for occasional to travel to our projects in Africa

About the role:
· This is a voluntary, unremunerated role but with reimbursement of travel and other related expenses.

Our small friendly Charity Shop in South Westminster
As well as being an important source of revenue for the Centre, the shop on Horseferry Road is the public face of the Cardinal Hume Centre to the residents and workers of Westminster. It can be a very busy environment with lots of regular customers. You will be part of a friendly, international team! You will receive excellent support and opportunities to learn team skills and customer service. You can obtain a reference for future employers.
How does this role make a difference?
You will be part of the fundraising team, raising funds to support the work of the Cardinal Hume Centre and promoting the work of the Centre to the public. Typically, the Charity Shop raises in the region of £50,000 per year.
What will you be doing?
Flexibility will be given where possible, but in general, volunteers will undertake the following tasks as part of this role:
· Customer service on the till
· Cashing up at the end of the day and walking the takings round to the reception and handing in to Finance Team
· Greeting and helping customers
· Replenishing the stock on the shop floor

Caritas Young Parents’ Service offers accommodation-based support to young parents and their children who have experienced chaotic and/or unsafe lifestyles. About the Role

Time Commitment & Availability

The role is hybrid, combining:
• remote and flexible working from home

Watford and Three Rivers Refugee Partnership operates in the borough of Watford and Three Rivers district, providing support to refugees and others without status in the UK. The partnership has a full-time caseworker and two part-time support staff in addition to around 80 volunteers. It currently serves around 350 families and individuals.
The charity provides:
· A weekly drop-in session – currently Tuesdays 11:00-13:30 – for existing and new clients to see us
· Casework supporting applications for leave to remain and related issues

Fine Cell Work (FCW) is a UK-based rehabilitation charity and social enterprise. We are supported by an incredible team of prison volunteers who are the link between the charity and the stitchers we work with in prison. Our volunteers run fortnightly stitching groups in the prisons we work with to facilitate our stitchers’ production of high-quality needlework.
Our prison volunteers work in small teams to teach our stitchers’ embroidery and needlepoint, organise their group sessions, and liaise with the prison and FCW office.

Ealing Carers Partnership offers support services to unpaid family carers aged 18+, living or caring for someone living in the London Borough of Ealing. • The desire to gain local knowledge about services or a willingness to find out what is available to support local carers
• A minimum availability of 2/3 hours per week
• Being comfortable in terms of talking to people in groups
• A knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding, although full training will be given.
Training and support
We will try to offer a good range of training and support to all volunteers but, as a minimum, you can expect to:
• Attend starter training sessions, an induction to the programme and staff
• Undertake a DBS check
• Attend Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Confidentiality and Customer Care training
• Attend appropriate team meetings/ briefings so you are up to date on what we are delivering
• Attend 6-8 weekly checks-ins for support for you and to see how you are doing within your role.
Expenses
Out of pocket and travel expenses will be reimbursed as agreed upon commencement.
For this role volunteers MUST be aged 18 or over.

We are looking for a volunteer to facilitate a Men’s group. The group provides a safe, welcoming place for people to meet, share experiences and support each other’s growth. We’d love to find a resident in Haringey, but this is not essential for the role.

Role description and purpose: The role involves offering moral and some practical support to a client of WTRRP. Any complex needs are addressed by WTRRP Case Workers and professional organisations, not befrienders. Befrienders will give client extra support to combat isolation, extra language support and help them to integrate into UK society and the Watford community.
How a befriender will be allocated: The Befriending Coordinators and the Volunteers’ Coordinator will allocate a befriender to a client with his/her explicit agreement. An initial meeting between the client, the befriender and one of the coordinators will be organised to set up parameters and ensure that both parties are happy to continue. Client support can be terminated at any time by mutual agreement and in consultation with one of the Befriending Coordinators.
Key responsibilities:
· Provide moral support to allocated client.
· Make regular phone calls and visits (in a neutral place such as cafes, libraries, St Mary’s as agreed with the client) – once a week or every other week.
· Listen, encourage and empower clients. (It is important not to create mutual dependency)
· Maintain a friendly but neutral approach.
· Help client integrate into UK society by sharing local knowledge, for example facilitating access to Children Centres, libraries etc.
· Accompany client to social events organised by WTRRP.
· Help client be aware of WTRRP services
· Offer practical help such as lifts to medical appointments (if comfortable with this), finding clothes, furniture, moving (if agreed and organised by WTRR) etc.
· Report to a Befriending Coordinator after each meeting with the client.
· Identify more complex needs/issues and relay these to the Befriending Coordinators.
· Report any safeguarding concerns immediately as per WTRRP policy. Liaise with the Safeguarding Lead and/or members of the Committee.
· Represent WTRRP and work constructively as part of a WTRRP team.
Other Requirements of the Role:
· Willingness to commit to a 6 months period (an extension may be granted but we would like to see clients become self-reliant)
· Reasonable availability, particularly during weekdays.
· Attend regular Befrienders’ training and volunteers’ training essential.
Skills and personal qualities:
· Strong communicator and interpersonal skills (including ability to convey information in simple English).
· Patience
· Reliability and flexibility
· Awareness of non-verbal communication such as body language.
· Awareness of cultural differences/unconscious bias and their effects on the clients we support. Training will be given on these.
· Awareness of boundaries.
· Ability to work as part of a team.
· Empathy for the plight of refugees and asylum seekers.
Experience:
· Previous volunteering experience an advantage
