Cadet Group Lead work directly with young people in St John Ambulance Badger Setts and Cadet Units. By organising a mixed weekly programme, this role will support the learning and development of young people into the next generation of health citizens. Cadet Group Lead also help young people develop their confidence, teamwork skills, self-discipline, and generally encourage them to strive to be the best they can be, as well as supervise and support other adult volunteers in their team.
The Volunteer Cadet Group Lead is responsible for leading and coordinating the delivery of weekly Cadet sessions at Brierley Hill, ensuring a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for young people. The role involves both operational leadership during sessions and the completion of essential administrative tasks to support the effective running of the Cadet programme. Key responsibilities include planning, organising, and leading weekly Cadet sessions, supported by assistant leaders and volunteers.
The role holder oversees attendance, maintains accurate records, and completes all required Cadet administration, including registers, consent documentation, and any necessary reporting. Sessions should promote skills development, confidence, teamwork, and progression in line with the Cadet framework. The Cadet Group Lead acts as a key point of contact for parents and carers, models positive behaviours, and ensures safeguarding, health and safety, and organisational policies are adhered to at all times. The role requires strong organisational skills, the ability to lead and motivate both young people and volunteers, and a commitment to providing a high-quality experience within a volunteer-led setting.

Key Responsibilities
You will take a proactive, leadership‑focused role in supporting and revitalising chapters. Responsibilities include:

● Providing hands‑on intervention for struggling chapters, focusing on recruitment, events, and wardrobe.
● Leading chapter overhauls when needed, including stepping in as temporary President if required.

● Ensuring struggling chapters focus on the “Golden Triangle”: wardrobe, trained volunteers, and events.

The role focuses on SEO, content systems, and structured knowledge management.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain an SEO and content strategy aligned with CIC’s mission and campaigns
- Conduct keyword research and topic analysis related to CSA awareness, survivor support, and education
- Plan structured content systems such as pillar pages, topic clusters, and learning pathways
- Work with copywriters, designers, and campaign leads to prioritise content
- Optimise website pages, blogs, and campaign content for search visibility and accessibility
- Track content performance using search and engagement data
- Identify content gaps and opportunities for educational resources
- Ensure all content follows trauma-informed and safeguarding standards
- Document content strategy, workflows, and processes for scalability
What We’re Looking For
- Experience or interest in SEO, content strategy, or digital publishing
- Ability to plan long-term content systems rather than individual posts

No one should die because they needed first aid and didn’t get it. St John Ambulance teaches people first aid so they can be the difference between life and death, and you can help us do this.
As a Cadet Group Lead, you will be responsible for the overall management of your St John Ambulance Youth unit. You will do this by leading weekly meetings, organising other youth development activities and actively participating in the recruitment, training and retention of the young people and volunteers in your unit. You will ensure that they have a positive and rewarding experience in St John Ambulance, by equipping them with the necessary skills to fulfil our vision; ‘Everyone who needs it should receive first aid from those around them. No one should suffer for the lack of trained first aiders.’
This role is ideal for someone who has some management experience and wants to enhance their skills while doing invaluable work. This role is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitations Offenders Act.
This Cadet Group meet on Tuesday evenings in Towcester.
We are looking to run a volunteering selection interview session from 02/04/2026. Interviews will take place in person following shortlisting, with a panel of youth team members.
