We are looking for a passionate volunteer to support our growing online career platform by reviewing CVs, cover letters, and guiding young job seekers to improve their employability. Ideal candidates may have experience in HR, recruitment, career coaching, or talent development.

• Review and provide feedback on CVs/resumes and cover letters

• Offer career guidance based on individual goals, skills, and interests

• Support users with job search strategies and application readiness

About the Role

The Events & Partnerships Officer will help plan, coordinate, and deliver community events, charity fundraisers, and partnership activities to support our growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver events (community days, fundraisers, volunteer events)

• Build relationships with schools, local businesses, and partners

• Secure sponsorships, in-kind donations, and venue support

Our busy Homework Club is part of our delivery of child and family support services, in order that low income and vulnerable families have improved access to services, employment opportunities and life chances.

Do you have some teaching or coaching exeperince either as a parent, classroom assistant or teacher? On Fridays afternoons from 3.30-5.30pm the Centre provides an after-school Homework club during term time. Children from three local primary schools, and a few from Year 7 attend the club.  Many come from families where English is a second language.

Volunteers sit on a table with 1 or 2 children and provide help with their homework, maths and English work mostly, and some reading.  Volunteers commit to one session a week on Friday (3.30 – 5.30pm).

What are we looking for?

• Ideally you have some experience in teaching, either professionally, voluntary or at home with your own children.

What is the time commitment?

Main Responsibilities/ Key Duties

We are seeking Volunteer Schools Workers to accompany our lead Schools Worker in delivering workshops to children and young people. We are seeking a diverse, proactive team of volunteers to support a 6-week summer programme (July 20 – Aug 28) across three refuge houses. Our mission is to rebuild parent-child bonds and bring joy back into childhood for families recovering from domestic abuse. You will be volunteering alongside the Children Family workers throughout the summer and will be invited to join an end of summer party.

• Provide mentoring for teens with interests such as art, fashion, films, anime, manga and creativity.

Make A Smile is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Safeguarding Officer to help us ensure the safety and wellbeing of the children, families, and volunteers we support across the UK. The Safeguarding Officer plays a central role in maintaining high safeguarding standards across all Make A Smile Chapters. You will also lead on maintaining and updating our safeguarding policies, liaising with relevant organisations to ensure they remain comprehensive, compliant, and aligned with current legislation.
