About the Role 

We are Buttons & Bubbles C.I.C. We aim to increase inclusion and representation for disabled families across society. We have several different services including bespoke characters, workshops, free resources, events, sensory trails and more. 

As Buttons & Bubbles continues to grow, we are looking for people who can grow our Linkedin network and also general leads into development and business opportunities

We are looking for friendly volunteers to support our Attleborough charity shop by providing a warm welcome to our customers and processing sales through the till and card machine. The time you dedicate will help us to make the most of the incredible donations to our charity shops and raise more funds for our vital animal welfare work.

Tasks and responsibilities:

• Greeting customers and serving them in a friendly, helpful and courteous manner
• Answering questions from customers, donors and supporters
• Processing sales through the till and card machine
• Helping with administration and reception duties around the till area
• Promoting Gift Aid and instore sales campaigns

Relevant training and support will be provided.

What we are looking for:

• Friendly, helpful and confident when working with the public
• Good communication and numeracy skills
• Previous customer service or retail experience would be beneficial but not necessary as full training will be given

Volunteer role: Advocate

Reports to: Advocate Lead

Commitment level: Flexible hours to suit Advocate availability.  No set hours are stipulated. 

Location: Stamford, Bourne, Deeping and surrounding villages. 

Purpose of the Voluntary role:

The Advocacy role can be very rewarding; it’s a way of getting involved in supporting your local community and making a difference. It can give you the chance to feel valued, learn new skills, be part of a team and meet new people. An Advocate means giving support to another person to help them access information and advice; enabling them to express their views and wishes and to remain independent and in control of their daily affairs. 

Key Responsibilities:

• listen to views and concerns of the person requiring help

• help the person explore their options and rights (without pressuring them)

• assist in helping to complete application forms

• provide information to help the person make informed decisions

• help the person contact relevant people, or make contact on their behalf

• accompany the person and support them in meetings

• maintain confidentiality at all times unless given express permission to share information

Key relationships:

• Supporting and helping people who are referred or refer themselves to the Advocacy Service for assistance

We are looking for friendly volunteers to help our shop management team assist customers and donors, and ensure the shop is tidy and well stocked.

Whether you have a passion for customer service and pre-loved fashion, or you would prefer to be behind the scenes in our stockroom, your help could make a difference to people in Scotland who are isolated, scared, or anxious about their condition.

Travel Information: The shop is easy to reach from Inverness city centre, with several bus options available, including the 25, 27, 26A, X25 and 700. It takes around five minutes by bus or about 23 minutes on foot.

Our volunteer administrators are instrumental to all the work that we do across Hestia. You will have the opportunity to support staff with a wide range of desk-based and administrative tasks. These behind-the-scenes roles provide essential support in ensuring that those who we work with access the support they require to rebuild their lives beyond crisis.

What you will be doing

• To support with administration, texting and emailing information to service users, volunteers, and staff
• Support with updating and inputting data into spreadsheets
• Support with making phone calls to follow up and gather needed information.

The skills you need

• Good communication skills
• Good organisation and administrative skills
• Able to maintain good working relationships
• Basic IT skills, comfortable using spreadsheets and emailing
