Position Description 
This is an exciting time to join the Heart of the City trustee board. You will join a small but ambitious Charity with strong foundations and networks across the public and private sector. This is an opportunity to shape the next chapter for the Heart of the City, with a strong focus on developing a robust, sustainable three-year Strategy. The Strategy will be supported by work to further diversify funding streams, that provide greater financial resilience without compromising our mission to support SMEs to become responsible businesses and play a full role in responding to the Climate Emergency.

The incoming Chair will support the team to develop a three-year Strategy to support the growth of the Charity.

The plan will explore:

• The Mission of the Charity and how it should grow
• Diversifying and securing new sources of funding
• Broadening our programmatic offer to SMEs
• Defining the strategic relationship between Heart of the City and the City of London Corporation

Unlike most small charities, Heart of the City has an extensive network and governance structures with prestigious organisations. The Chair will help manage key relationships with the Bank of England and Corporation of London, as well as key Council Members. The Chair will be instrumental in managing an effective and focussed set of Trustees to help shape, scrutinise and deliver the Charity’s mission.

By the end of the three-year period as Chair, you will have supported the development and implementation of a Strategy, which meets the vision of the Charity, helped develop a sustainable and resilient funding model, ensured that the Charity is making an impact and reporting on its achievements and maintains effective relationships with key strategic partners.

Typically, the Chair will:

• Hold regular fortnightly meetings with the Managing Director.
• Attend quarterly Trustee Board meetings (usually lasting around two hours and held during the working day).
• Participate in a strategy half-day with Trustees and staff.
• Attend Council meetings (up to two per year).
• Support introductions to potential members, partners and stakeholders.
• Attend and occasionally speak at Heart of the City events on an ad hoc basis.

The Chair will contribute to ad-hoc requests including:

• Sharing their views on responsible business in interviews for our newsletter, social media or webinars
• Championing our work at other external events and meetings, on social media and on their own biographical profiles

About you
We do not expect one person to fulfil all specifications but would welcome applications from individuals who are able to demonstrate most of the following:

We empower Zambian youth with education, mentorship, and funding to drive SDG-focused solutions.

We are looking for a creative and committed Graphic Designer to help us coordinate our upcoming Youth SDG Summit in Zambia that will impact 1,000 youths.

Your designs will shape how our work is seen and understood, from social media content and reports to campaign visuals and volunteer materials. Through your creativity, you will help amplify issues such as mental health, climate action, and civic participation in ways that move people to care and act.

This role is ideal for someone who understands that design is not just about aesthetics, but about communication and impact. You will work closely with our team to translate complex realities into visuals that are simple, powerful, and human.

Earth Stewards Travel Club | an Ecosy Travel initiative

We help travellers and accommodations plan, share, and transparently report low‑carbon flight‑free holidays.

Earth Stewards Travel Club is a grassroots climate action community for travellers and tourism professionals who believe exploring the world and protecting it go hand in hand. We organise guided events across London combining sightseeing with environmental action: canal clean-ups, forest garden volunteering, citizen science, wild swims, wetland walks, and more, and we're building a network of volunteer destination leaders to take the model to locations around the world.

We're a certified B Corp and registered social enterprise at an early and exciting stage. We've run our first trial event in London and are working on building the community before we scale. This is an opportunity to shape how an emerging climate action community delivers impact.

The role

We're looking for a proactive, personable, and organised volunteer to build and manage the distribution partnerships that get Earth Steward's events in front of the right people. You'll identify, approach, and develop relationships with hotels, hostels, and visitor accommodation in London, as well as tourism organisations, sustainable travel communities, and visitor-facing platforms whose audiences overlap with ours.

This is fundamentally a business development and relationship management role. You'll be representing Earth Stewards Travel Club externally, opening doors, and building the network of partners who help us grow without paid advertising.

This role suits someone with a background or interest in sales, business development, tourism, hospitality, or partnership management, and who wants to apply those skills to a purpose-driven business.

What you'll do
Hotel & accommodation partnerships

• Identify independent hotels, boutique stays, eco-friendly properties, hostels, and B&Bs in London whose guests are likely to be interested in our events
• Reach out to concierge teams, guest experience managers, and hotel marketing contacts to propose distributing Earth Stewards event information to their guests, via leaflets, digital displays, concierge recommendations, or inclusion in welcome packs
• Build and maintain ongoing relationships with accommodation partners, keeping them updated on upcoming events and new tour routes
• Explore reciprocal opportunities where relevant, promoting partner properties to our community in return

Tourism organisation partnerships

• Identify and approach tourism organisations, destination management organisations, sustainable travel networks, and visitor guides whose audience matches our community of eco-conscious travellers
• Pitch co-promotion arrangements: newsletter features, social media cross-promotion, event listings in partner channels, or collaborative event programming
• Develop relationships with organisations already working at the intersection of tourism and sustainability including B Corp networks, social enterprise communities, and green travel platforms

Partnership management

• Maintain a simple CRM or partnership tracker to record outreach, conversations, and active relationships
• Brief the founder regularly on pipeline and active partnerships
• Work with the Community & events marketing coordinator to ensure partner co-promotion is joined up with our own content calendar
• Identify new distribution opportunities as the event programme grows and new routes launch

Who we're looking for

Volunteering in the shop

Mary's Living & Giving for Save the Children is unique - a vibrant result of the generous gifts of local individuals and companies being turned around by the skills and passions of volunteer teams, to create a destination retail experience. We hold a prime position on the picturesque Church Street and from our little pink shop we raise lifesaving funds for Save The Children’s work both in the U.K. and abroad. As well as raising awareness on sustainable fashion and fashion climate activism, we’re a hub of excitement and passion!

Our Stoke Newington Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.

It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.

Fundraising Volunteer

Challenge Adventure Group (“CAG” for short and the operating name of CAG Trust) is a voluntary youth organisation for Knowle, Dorridge and beyond aimed at boys aged 10 and above.

As our name suggests, we provide challenging, adventurous and fun activities and the D of E Award for young people in their leisure time. Taking part in fun experiential activities enables members to develop their physical and mental skills and capacities and reach their full potential of becoming positive, active and happy citizens.

Summary

CAG was formed in 2009 and became a charity, CAG Trust, in 2019. We are looking for an individual who embodies the spirit of CAG and continually keeps the integrity and goals of the organisation at the forefront of every decision that they make as part of their role.  Because we work in a self-funded way, we need new resources to keep our organisation alive and to be able to offer a wide range of outdoor activities to our members.

We are looking for a remote based or local volunteer who ideally has experience in grant / bid writing and / or experience of working with young people.  This is a very flexible role which can be carried out at home and in your free time.

Description

Responsibilities:

• Communicating and building relationships with current and potential donors.

• Organise established fundraising activities, such as our legendary CAG car wash. 

• Develop new and imaginative fundraising activities, many of which involve organising events to raise awareness of the charity and its activities e.g. giving talks to groups or seeking photo opportunities with the media. 

• Develop and coordinate web-based fundraising, online auctions and merchandise sales. 

• Manage all aspects of grant bids: research potential donors, establish requirements of the grant, create a bid (in conjunction with other CAG staff) that meets the terms and conditions of the grant, submit bid and implement successful bids, report progress where required back to grant givers.

• Oversee corporate fundraising, including employee giving and matched giving from employers. 

• Manage and update databases to record donor contact and preference information. 

• Write applications and mail-shots, using direct mailing to reach a range of potential and current donors. 

• Researching and contacting new sources of funding.

• Drafting proposals for projects, activities and equipment.

This role is partly remote but ideally the candidate should be available for face to face Committee and other meetings.

Volunteer Media correspondents (Campaigns) will be leading and supporting Centre for Big Synergy’s (CBS) SDG campaigns and events by capturing and sharing impactful stories and features across its communication channels, reaching millions.

What will you be doing?

Working closely with relevant campaigns or events team leadership and other volunteers of CBS, the Media Correspondents will interview members of public, campaign stakeholders, special guests, celebrities, leaders in policy, business and media , produce high‑quality audio‑visual content, and manage digital publications, helping to strengthen awareness, engagement, and visibility for our organisation’s mission and project outcomes.

Correspondents will play a key role in shaping and sharing the stories behind our sustainability initiatives. Your responsibilities will include:

• Working alone or in pairs; introduce campaigns to stakeholders/public, research, plan, compose and execute interviews and features (text, audio, video as applicable) 
• Conducting interviews with project leads, community members, partners, special guests, advisors and beneficiaries; for public events, public engagement, award ceremonies, campaigns
• Recording high‑quality audio and video content in the field (public places) or remotely.
• Editing interviews and project footage into clear, engaging, and professional media outputs.
• Creating compelling written and visual content for social media, newsletters, and other organisational platforms.
• Managing the publication of content across our digital channels, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with our mission.
• Collaborating with multiple project teams, selecting assignments based on your availability and areas of interest.
• Maintaining organised media archives and ensuring all content adheres to ethical and brand guidelines.

What are we looking for?

We are seeking a confident and capable media professional who brings:

• A minimum of three years’ experience in journalism, media production, communications, or a related field.
• Strong interviewing skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders respectfully and professionally.
• Proficiency in audio and video recording, editing software, and digital content creation.
• Excellent written communication skills and an eye for compelling storytelling.
• Familiarity with social media platforms and an understanding of how to tailor content for different audiences.
• The ability to work independently, manage multiple assignments, and meet agreed timelines.
• A genuine interest in sustainability, community development, and not‑for‑profit work.
• Professionalism, discretion, and a commitment to representing the organisation with integrity.

Please note: Can perform all duties remotely, wherever they re based.
