Who we are

Children with Voices started over 20 years ago with one woman, a community hall and a belief that no child in Hackney should be forgotten. Our founder Michelle began with a Winter Wonderland for local children at London Fields School, covered by the Hackney Gazette, after being named Family Mosaic Inspirational Tenant of the Year. She has not stopped since.

Today we are a registered charity at Fawcett Estate Community Hall in Clapton, running a Community Food Hub, Jumping Beans, SEND support, alternative education and work in local schools. Over 100,000 children and families have come through our doors. Our work has been featured on BBC, ITV and Channel 4, and we have been recognised with a Pride of Britain Award and a Points of Light Award. What we are proudest of is that families still knock on our door knowing someone will answer.

Who this role suits

A retired journalist, press officer or communications professional with a contacts book and time to give. Someone in PR who wants their skills to mean something beyond the day job. A graduate ready to build real press cuttings with their name behind them. If you can spot a story and pick up the phone, you will do well here.

What you will be doing

• Building relationships with journalists, local papers, radio, podcasts and community platforms

• Writing press releases and statements, and getting them to the right people at the right time

• Finding the stories worth telling across our programmes and turning them into coverage

• Setting up interviews and media opportunities, and preparing Michelle and the team for them

• Keeping a record of coverage so we can show funders and partners the reach we have

• Working within our safeguarding policies at all times. We never share a child's image or story without proper consent.

What you will need

You need to be able to write clearly and quickly, and to be comfortable approaching people who do not know you yet. Persistence matters more than polish in this role, because most pitches go nowhere and the good ones come from following up. Media contacts are a real advantage but not essential.

Adanna Women’s Support Group is a small but impactful non-profit support group dedicated to supporting and empowering women in our community who have experienced some of life’s challenges and lost their confidence and have no local network. We are looking for a creative and passionate Marketing & PR Officer to help raise awareness of our work, strengthen our public profile, and engage supporters, partners, and donors.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys storytelling, digital marketing, and community engagement. As a key member of a small team, you will lead our marketing and PR activity, helping us share our impact, promote our programmes, and grow our supporter base.

You will create engaging content, manage social media platforms, coordinate media outreach, and support the promotion of events and campaigns.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver marketing campaigns to promote the charity’s services, events, and impact.
• Manage and grow the charity’s social media presence through engaging and regular content.
• Write press releases, stories, and communications that highlight the charity’s work.
• Build relationships with media outlets, partners, and community organisations.
• Support the promotion of fundraising campaigns and community events.
• Update website content and assist with digital marketing initiatives.
• Ensure consistent branding across all communications and materials.
• Create engaging flyers and publicity materials for our services and events that is consistent with our branding and ensuring our funders logos are prominently displayed

About You

We’re looking for someone who is creative, organised, and passionate about making a difference.

You will ideally have:

• Experience in marketing, communications, or PR.
• Strong writing and storytelling skills.
• Experience managing social media platforms and digital content.
• The ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently.
• A genuine interest in supporting women and promoting equality.
• willing to committ to at least 3 months volunteering

Experience in the non-profit/charity sector is helpful but not essential.

This is a really flexible role, you can choose what you’d like to get involved with, for example: 

• face-to-face fundraising. Organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins 
• online fundraising. Setting up online appeals and writing impactful cat case studies that maximise donations
• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  
• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork
• championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

Time expectation

This is a flexible role that can fit around your other commitments to suit you. You’ll be part of a team raising vital funds while having fun in the process!

Help support cats in the North East of Scotland!

As a charity we can help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations from our supporters. Raising funds is a key role in our charity, helping to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need.

As a fundraising volunteer, we will support you every step of the way to ensure your time at Cats Protection is a positive and rewarding one. Whatever time you can give really does make a big difference We have lots of exciting activities to choose from for example attending a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, handling administrative tasks, or contributing to the development of new fundraising ideas. It is a flexible role, you have the choice to be involved in the following:

o face-to-face fundraising – organising or helping with fundraising events, attending supermarket collections and monitoring collection boxes.

o online fundraising – assisting with online appeals, increasing social media engagement to maximise funds raised.

o bringing new ideas! - We always love to come up with new ideas to raise funds for cats and we’d love to help bring yours to life.

o engaging with your local branch and Fundraising Hub and feeling like an integral part of the team.

You will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge though Cats Protection’s learn online system, providing you with the skills to thrive as a fundraiser.  You’ll also have the chance to meet new people and be part of a dedicated team of volunteers.

As an Activities Organiser, you'll bring your skills, energy and enthusiasm to lead, develop and plan activities and events with your local group. You’ll get involved in creating and coordinating an annual calendar of events, making sure they’re run safely and effectively, to be accessible to our MS community. You’ll take a lead role at events on the day, inspiring your fellow volunteers to get involved.  

To carry out this role, you will need to live in Kendal or the surrounding area.

We are seeking a creative and results-driven Social Media Volunteer to join our new community interest company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing effective social media strategies to enhance our online presence, engage with our audience, and promote our brand. This role requires a strong understanding of social media management and public relations, as well as the ability to create compelling content that resonates with our target market. We are also looking for someone who has a genuine interest in counselling, therapy or mental health.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage social media strategies across various platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
• Create engaging content tailored to different audiences and platforms, ensuring alignment with brand messaging.
• Monitor social media channels for trends, customer feedback, and engagement opportunities.

Requirements

Across the UK, our volunteer groups play a vital part in supporting people affected by MS, bringing people together and connecting our local MS communities.

As a Communications Volunteer you’ll play a key role in promoting your group to people in your area affected by MS, and helping them feel connected. You could be editing newsletters, responding to information requests, or developing engaging content for social media — depending on what the group needs.

In this role you’ll develop your writing skills, and gain experience of communicating across a range of digital channels.

Most importantly you’ll be helping us engage with lots of people and get the word out to people with MS about support to help them live their lives to the full.
