Job description

Do you value community, and believe by working together can it benefit children and families and the wider community?

We are looking for enthusiastic, passionate and outgoing volunteers to work alongside our Community Development worker to bring the benefits and impact of skilled community development work within the Ladywood district.

Role involves working alongside Community Development worker to

  • Develop and think of creative ways to encourage the community to engage and participate in the service s

  • To support running sessions such as wellbeing and Parents Forum

  • To support organising open days and events across the locality

  • To create promotional documentation

  • To be involved in creating newsletters and reports

Barnardo’s support and protect children and families facing a wide range of issues. Over 150 years ago Barnardo’s promised to support those children in need to help regardless of their circumstances, gender, race, disability or behaviour.

We believe that volunteering plays an essential role in our work to transform the lives of vulnerable children and families. Volunteers help us extend and enrich our work by bringing a diversity of skills, experience, community knowledge, service opportunities and funds.

As a part of Barnardos ongoing commitment to safeguard, our children services recruitment process requires that successful candidates are asked to consent to an Enhanced DBS which will be paid by Barnardos.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong communications skills

  • Enthusiastic and committed

  • Positive attitude

  • A passion to work in community development

  • Creative

  • Skilled in planning and organising
