About Pain Concern
Pain Concern is a charity providing information and support to people with pain and those who care for them, whether family, friends or healthcare professionals. Visit our website to find out more about what we do, including our Airing Pain radio programme, Pain Matters magazine, information helpline, community pain education sessions and our research and campaigning work. All pain is unpleasant, but for the 7.8 million people in the UK living with long-term pain it is a part of everyday life. It diminishes quality of life more than any other condition, leading often to loss of work, depression and disability. Anyone at any age can develop persistent pain and you will very probably know somebody affected. Although there is usually no cure, people who receive the appropriate treatment, information and support can manage their condition effectively with life-changing results.
Role Purpose
To make sure that information needs within Pain Concern are met, including those of the Media, Editorial, Helpline and Forum. To support other departments with research, data analysis and compiling reports.
What you would be doing:
• Monitor, update and optimize lists of resources for signposting including the Pain Concern Factsheet, the website resources page and embedded website links
• Create and maintain short descriptions about Pain Concern and its activities for use in publications and databases
• Keep up-to-date with developments in pain, from research publications and news media and disseminate this info to rest of organisation, including Media and Policy Teams
• Send relevant information to the Editorial team for inclusion in the magazine notes and elsewhere
• Monitor and supply information needs for Helpline and Forum
• Assist in data analysis, research and report or abstract writing, relating to Helpline and other services
• Maintain database of Pain Concern publications and information produced by Pain Concern
• Manage inboxes for public comment and general information requests
• Maintain the list of those Media Volunteers who are willing to take part in surveys, media interviews etc.

Role Description
The role of the Chair of Trustees is to give leadership to the board and to make sure the board fulfils its duties and responsibilities. Additionally, the Chair of Trustees works closely with the CEO to support her/him to achieve the aims of NIDAS, and, at times, represent NIDAS at functions, meetings and in the press, and broadcasting media.
Level of Commitment
- Six-weekly board meetings
- Participating in a sub-committee and/ or ad hoc groups
- Regular meetings with the CEO
- Represent NIDAS at various events and meetings with stakeholders
Duties
In addition to the responsibilities of a trustee, the Chair of Trustees' duties are to:
- Provide leadership to the organisation and the board by ensuring that everyone remains focused on the delivery of its charitable purposes in order to deliver the greatest public benefit.
- To ensure that the Annual Reports and accounts are produced at the end of each year for presentation to the Annual General Meeting and to ensure that they are forwarded to the Charity Commission within the appropriate time period.
- Chair and facilitate board meetings and the Annual General Meeting encouraging full participation by all attending.
- Establish sub-committees and working groups to address specific issues/tasks as deemed appropriate by the board, and to call upon specialist skills of his/her fellow Officers and Trustees in relation to those groups, and to participate in such groups as appropriate.
- Give direction to board policy making.
- Check that decisions taken at meetings are implemented.
- Represent the organisation at functions and meetings and act as a spokesperson when appropriate.
- Bring impartiality and objectivity to decision making.
- Liaise with the CEO to keep an overview of the organisation’s affairs.
- Lead the process of supporting and appraising the performance of the CEO.
- Sit on senior appointment, and disciplinary panels.
The Chair of Trustees will also work with the CEO to:
- Plan and set the agenda for the Annual General meeting with the Secretary.
- Plan the annual cycle of board meetings and agendas for each meeting with the Secretary.
- Develop the board of trustees including induction, training, appraisal and succession planning.
- Address conflict within the board and within the organisation, and liaise with the CEO to achieve this.
Person Specification

- Strong leadership skills
- Experience of chairing meetings and/or committee work
- Ability to balance tact and diplomacy with willingness to challenge and constructively criticise
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

We are looking for trained Clinical Supervisors who have been practising for over 3 years to lead supervision sessions with our volunteer Mentors. We hold these bi-weekly in groups of 3-4 over lunchtime or evenings online.
What will you be doing?
All Been There Mentors who work with our Mentees have monthly group supervision. Usually there are four volunteers in a group. Supervision can take place in person or on zoom.
Commit to supervising a minimum of two groups per month (approx 5 hours in total).

- To safeguard the wellbeing of the Mentors and ensure that their needs are being addressed.
- To ensure the quality of Mentor support work with Mentees

We are looking for one or more administration volunteers to provide admin support to our advisers at Biddulph Town Hall. The office is staffed on Mondays and Wednesdays with a drop-in each morning from 10.30am to 1pm and pre-booked appointments in the afternoons.

What will you do?
- Complete an introduction to Citizens Advice and training for your role.
- Help with the day to day running of the Citizens Advice service.
- Assist at drop-ins by greeting clients, assisting clients to fill in a personal information sheet and entering the data onto a database.
- Scan, print, and photocopy documents using a printer.
- Update spreadsheets and databases.
- Any other admin duties as required.

- Lead HR at Remix, being a positive role model and driving force and making a success of REMIX.
- Lead on the strategic planning and implementation of REMIX’s HR.
- Set up HR systems and processes at REMIX.
- Recruit, select, induct and train volunteers at REMIX.
- Represent REMIX to stakeholders, including the community, volunteers, donors, and partners.
- Ensure the volunteering programmes performance and growth of REMIX.
- Other duties related to the running and management of HR at REMIX and the role of HR Manager.
