Job description

About EduSpots

EduSpots connect, train and equip over 250 local volunteers who drive community-led change in rural Ghana and Kenya through education centers named ‘Spots’. Our Ghanaian staff team lead programmes in leadership, literacy development and STEM and sustainability, enabling our local volunteers to impact an estimated 15,000 learners annually in underserved communities. We won the Tes International Award in 2018 recognising us as the best UK international education project, and our Founder was recently selected as a Finalist for the Global Teacher Prize in partnership with UNESCO.

Student Ambassador Network

We are creating a dynamic ambassadors network to enable people of all ages to support EduSpots’ work whilst connecting with key issues in education and international development in the process. Our EduSpots Student Ambassadors are students across the world who support our work by organizing fundraising events, resource drives, and setting up EduSpots clubs within their schools and universities.  Whilst contributing, they will have the opportunity to engage deeply with complex issues in sustainable international development through online courses and talks, and connect with a network of other volunteers and students across the world.

The Student Ambassador Network Manager is responsible for leading and providing guidance and support to our EduSpots Ambassadors across the network as they conduct these activities and learn about development, and helping to drive the impact and growth of this network in the longer term. This would suit someone interested in development education.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Plan and chair monthly Ambassador Network meetings where Ambassadors can collaborate, sharing ideas and activities they’ve organized.

  • Support Ambassadors with organizational tips and clear process structures for fundraising event planning.

  • Update and create our handbook to support Ambassadors, using Canva’s design programme.

  • Check in regularly with Student Ambassadors to make sure they are engaged and confident in how to conduct their current activities.

  • Respond to questions that EduSpots Ambassadors raise via email, WhatsApp and Zoom when appropriate.

  • Post Ambassador-related highlights on social media feeds.

  • Support and work alongside the Ghanaian University Ambassadors Network Manager.

Key person qualities

  • Self-motivated, proactive and able to work independently whilst enjoying working as a team.
  • Strong ability to motivate young people and encourage them to lead change in their school.
  • An interest in international development and education.
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills.
  • An ability to use Canva (simple design software) and experience with social media
  • A strong personal affinity with EduSpots’ mission, vision and values.
