VOLUNTEER PROJECT LEAD / PROJECT MANAGER

SUNSHINE Charity is looking for a dedicated, organised, and motivated Volunteer Project Lead / Project Manager to help oversee the planning and coordination of our start-up grassroots charity. Working closely with the Board of Trustees, you will play a key role in helping shape, guide, and deliver our work to reduce loneliness and social isolation through meaningful, uplifting community-based activities.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to help build something positive from the ground up. You will support the charity’s day-to-day coordination, help keep projects on track, and ensure our activities, volunteers, and plans all work together to deliver real community impact.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As Project Lead / Project Manager, you will help manage the overall running of SUNSHINE Charity’s activities and projects. You will work alongside the Trustees to turn ideas into action, support planning and delivery, and help ensure the charity remains organised, effective, and true to its mission.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys taking initiative, coordinating people and tasks, and helping a small charity grow in a thoughtful and purposeful way.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Work closely with the Board of Trustees to support the planning and delivery of charity projects and activities.
Help coordinate the charity’s day-to-day operations and project timelines.
Keep projects organised, on track, and aligned with the charity’s aims.
Support volunteer coordination and help ensure volunteers are well briefed and engaged.
Help organise meetings, agendas, action points, and follow-up tasks.
Monitor progress against agreed plans and flag any issues or needs for support.
Support communication between trustees, volunteers, and external partners.
Help develop systems, processes, and workflows that improve how the charity operates.
Contribute ideas to help SUNSHINE Charity grow in a sustainable and community-focused way.

Confidence in coordinating people, tasks, and deadlines.
Good communication and relationship-building skills.
A proactive, reliable, and solutions-focused approach.
Ability to work collaboratively with Trustees and volunteers.
Experience in project management, charity work, community work, or team coordination would be helpful, but is not essential.

ABOUT THE ROLE
As an Activity Lead, you will take responsibility for leading specific activities, sessions, or events on behalf of SUNSHINE Charity. You will help prepare sessions, welcome participants, support a positive group atmosphere, and ensure activities are delivered safely, smoothly, and in line with the charity’s values.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being hands-on, engaging with others, and helping create experiences that are uplifting, inclusive, and community-focused.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead or co-lead agreed activities, sessions, or events.
Help plan activities that are welcoming, enjoyable, and suitable for participants.
Prepare materials, spaces, or equipment needed for sessions.
Welcome and support participants in a friendly and inclusive way.
Help create a positive, safe, and encouraging atmosphere.
Work with the Project Lead / Project Manager and Trustees to ensure activities are well organised.
Support volunteers who may be helping with the activity.
Gather feedback and share ideas for improving future sessions.
Help ensure activities reflect the charity’s values of warmth, kindness, and connection.

VOLUNTEER SECRETARY / GOVERNANCE LEAD

SUNSHINE Charity is looking for a committed and organised Volunteer Secretary / Governance Lead to join our Board of Trustees and help support the charity’s governance, administration, and compliance. Working closely with the Chair, fellow Trustees, and the Project Lead / Project Manager, you will help ensure the charity runs smoothly, keeps good records, and remains well organised and accountable.
This is an important trustee role for someone who values structure, clarity, and good governance, and who wants to play a meaningful part in helping a grassroots charity grow in a responsible and sustainable way.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As Secretary / Governance Lead, you will help support the effective running of the Board of Trustees and contribute to the charity’s overall governance. You will help organise meetings, maintain records, support trustee communication, and ensure key governance tasks are kept up to date.
This role is ideal for someone who is methodical, reliable, and comfortable handling administrative and governance responsibilities.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Organise trustee meetings, including agendas, papers, minutes, and follow-up actions.
Maintain accurate and secure charity records, documents, and key correspondence.
Help ensure the charity meets its governance, reporting, and policy obligations.
Keep track of trustee terms, appointments, and other governance matters.
Support the development, review, and organisation of charity policies and procedures.
Act as a point of contact for formal trustee administration and record-keeping.
Help ensure the Board operates in a structured, efficient, and compliant way.
Work closely with fellow Trustees and the Project Lead / Project Manager to support effective charity operations.

We are looking for a motivated volunteer to support our Trusts & Foundations team with research and grant writing. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in the charitable sector, contribute to meaningful projects, and develop fundraising skills.
