Bright Futures UK works with young people who have been forced to take time out from education due to chronic illness. We provide programmes to help stimulate learning in addition to having a social aspect that offers respite to the isolation these young people face due to their unfortunate circumstances.
What You’ll Do:
- Provide educational support and a fun, safe space for young people.
- Engage with young people in a positive and friendly way, helping them overcome their experiences and not feel defined by their illness.
- Interact with a young person on a one-to-one basis, leading conversations or trying new hobbies together (e.g., book club, video games, music, crafts).

Term
This is a three-year term, with the possibility of re-election for a further three-year term. Internal applicants must be eligible to complete the initial three-year term.
Time commitment
Trustees are asked to commit to four Board meetings a year (3 hours), and an away day. The Chair would be expected to commit more time (estimated at around 1-2 days a month) to cover extra duties such as meetings with the CEO and trustees and planning and preparing for the Board meetings.

Building relationships with the rest of our Board and our CEO will be vital to be successful in this role. Once appointed, you’ll be invited to attend a visit to one of our programmes to gain further insight into how we run our programmes and get to speak to our programme team.

**Remuneration will be based only on one session per month. Any additional mentoring session within that month will be considered voluntarily unless discussed with their mentee and the Off the Curriculum.

Would you like to help build a positive relationship, providing holistic support, and potentially advocating for them?

If so then Bolton Lads and Girls Club want to hear from you! As a Befriender, your role is to provide a young person in the care system an organised friendship with boundaries. Ensuring that they feel heard, and that they have a constant in their life. You can take the young person out for activities to build their trust and ultimately ensure that they have support from someone separate of both the local authority and the care system, an Independent Visitor. Typically the minimum length of time we would expect a volunteer to be in the role is 18 months, however the nature of the role means it could vary. Meetups are normally every 2 to 3 weeks, at a time that is convenient for both people.
Whilst no experience is required as training is provided, previous experience with children/young people can be advantageous.

1625 Independent People (1625ip) has been working with young people in the South West for over 40 years. They are award winning experts in providing services for young homeless people, care leavers, those at risk and young people who offend. Despite multiple and complex needs, over 80% of the young people they support go on to succeed.

· One Fundraising Expert – with significant high-level experience in charity fundraising.
· One expert in any field but we are particularly interested in those with experience of one or more of the following: commercial, community or social enterprises; senior roles in housing management or social care.

Purpose of role:
Support the Nova Family Programme tutors in facilitating online home school sessions.
Role Description:
This role will be to act as a teaching assistant to tutors delivering online English, maths and science classes (for young people at Key Stage 2 and 3). With the disruption of Covid-19, many families have been thrown into the unknown world of home schooling – made even more challenging when your own education isn’t up to scratch or English is your second language. We are delivering a free programme of online home school support to those who have been most negatively impacted by being out of school. Now that Schools have reopened, we will be continuing these sessions to ensure that learners do not fall behind as Schools focus on catching up on lost learning. The aim is to support children who may be falling behind with their studies and mitigating as far as possible the widening attainment gap.
