The Sleep Out Manager plays a vital role in managing our flagship fundraising event, Sleep Out. What you’ll be doing

• Responsibility for the successful delivery and growth of the Sleep Out portfolio; comprising a London corporate event, public events in London and Manchester and our ‘Host Your Own Sleep Out’ programme.
• Responsibility for annual planning and budgeting for the Sleep Out portfolio, including financial management, quarterly reforecasting, and delivery against financial targets.
• Leading a cross-departmental working group to deliver the corporate event. Responsibility for the logistics and strategy of the event
• Heading up a team of three, you’ll create a positive and inspiring culture, which empowers team members to achieve their best

About the role

The focus of the role will be on writing grant applications and competitive tenders to generate new income streams for the charity. These new income streams will allow us to move away from our reliance on core funding enabling us to follow our strategic plans and diversify where necessary to support more survivors.

This role will work closely with the Service Managers to identify funding opportunities which match our capacity for delivery.

The Bid Writer will develop and maintain networks and beneficial working relationships to raise the profile of Staying Put.

The role will involve analysing and researching information from various sources and then presenting these in a cohesive and persuasive way for the required audience. Writing reports and analysis for SLT will be required as part of this role.

Part-time, 18.75 hours per week, over 3 days. £32,900 FTE per annum.

About you

Educated to degree level, our ideal candidate will have excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce effective grant applications tailoring the content depending on the audience. We are looking for someone with significant experience in a similar bid writing role who can demonstrate success in meeting challenging financial targets. Knowledge of domestic abuse and sexual violence, the impact it has on victims and issues they face, would be an advantage.

You will need to be a self-starter with a professional attitude. Our ideal candidate will be able to problem solve in dynamic situations and have a creative approach to income generation.

The Role

Reporting to the Retail Development Manager, the Retail Development Officer will support with the continued growth and development of our retail network.

The role holder will actively support the Retail Development Manager to build, deliver, and implement a pipeline of new sites development in retail, including shops, cafes and superstores, Yorkshire Cancer Research Centres, and other retail related projects.

You will have responsibility of supporting the Retail Development Manager with market analysis and feasibility studies of potential new sites, contributing to the development of business cases, projects plans and delivery of these plans as well as contributing to compliance and ongoing maintenance and required improvements within the retail real estate. There will also be an opportunity for the role holder to inform future decision making through the delivery of business insight, KPI data and other metric reports relating to income.

Specifically, you will:

Ensure Retail Development effectively manages risk through clear prioritisation and consistent role modelling of best practices:

· Work collaboratively with the Retail Area Manager, with regards to monitoring compliance with retail policies and procedures, as well as Health & Safety standards.

· Act as a visible leader in relation to all health and safety responsibilities, taking reasonable care for your own safety and the safety of others. Adhere to all Health & Safety requirements, processes and procedures.

· Support and role model a strong safety-first approach in all retail development activities and projects.

· Work closely with the Facilities Manager to ensure new shops are in good condition and compliance documents are in place before being handed over to operate under business-as-usual activities.

Drive strong team performance across retail by consistently delivering high-quality work, demonstrating reliability, and actively collaborating across teams and external partners:

· Support, where possible, the recruitment process for new shop managers and volunteers and ensure this is complete in time for each new shop opening.

· Maintain and monitor detailed project plans for refurbishments, openings and improvement projects, ensuring suppliers, tradespeople and internal stakeholders are engaged and informed of key dates.

· Deputise for the Retail Development Manager, support and maintain relationships with property agents, shopfitters, tradespeople and third parties, in their absence.

· Assist as a contact for discussions with relevant internal and external stakeholders regarding new locations.

Support the positive representation of the Yorkshire Cancer Research brand by modelling key behaviours and helping deliver welcoming, innovative spaces that position the organisation as a brand leader:

· Undertake regular shop visits/shop floor inspections as directed by the Retail Development Manager; directing and supporting the team to deliver creative and inspiring layouts, space planning and use of point of sale to ensure that each shop maximises its sales potential.

· Empower teams through training and demonstrating the high standards expected of visual presentation of the shops in representing the brand image of Yorkshire Cancer Research.

· Be a trusted point of reference who understands expected standards, can clearly communicate them, and champions their importance in representing Yorkshire Cancer Research.

Support the delivery of commercially viable shops and related spaces by working within budget constraints and aligning with approved business cases and project plans:

· Support the Retail Development Manager in exploring and identifying the best locations for new shop openings, including market analysis, feasibility study, site visits, and site presentation.

· Assist in developing business cases for each new shop, ensuring they are financially viable and key decisions are documented.

· Support the development of project plans for shop openings, closures, and refits by ensuring suppliers, tradespeople and internal stakeholders are engaged and informed of key dates.

· Continuously improve systems and processes that support effective project delivery, ensuring accurate documentation, reporting and compliance.

· Work alongside the Retail Development Manager to identify new suppliers, ensuring they are suitable, competent, and aligned to our values.

· Support the Retail Development Manager in developing and testing new income streams, processes, and systems before moving to business-as-usual activities.

· Support the Retail Development Manager, Retail Area Managers, Head of Retail Property & Estates, and team in regularly reviewing our current retail estate, identifying maintenance and other improvements required.

Other duties:

· Support the development and execution of the ten-year Retail business strategy.

· Deliver key business insight to drive improvements through analysis.

· Provide regular KPI and metric reports on income to inform future decision-making and planning.

· Undertake additional duties outside the key job duties within the team and across the charity, as the charity may reasonably require.

About You

To be considered for this role, you will need:

· To ideally be educated to A Level or equivalent, or able to demonstrate experience in a similar role at a similar level.

· Have evidence of continued professional development relevant to the role's purpose and level.

· Experience in support of the delivery of multi-stakeholder projects.

· To have excellent business acumen and an in-depth understanding of market trends

· To have experience of working cross-functionally, both within an organisation and externally.

· To have experience in planning and implementing store openings.

· To have experience in using project management software such as Airtable and Sketchup.

· To be highly organised with good time management skills and the ability to prioritise own workload to meet deadlines.

· Merchandising and/or retail display experience is desirable

You will work with the Senior Service Manager to ensure the protection of women and children’s rights. You will represent Advance in partnership meetings and deputise for the Senior Service Manager as required, working closely with partners such as the Police and Social Care teams to improve services for survivors of Domestic Abuse.

You will have responsibility for supporting and line-managing, including performance management, domestic violence frontline workers to provide a high-quality front-line service to women experiencing violence against women and girls while ensuring that Advance’s values, policies and procedures are embedded into service delivery.

You will also take the lead in day-to-day crisis situations and provide day to day advice and guidance on casework, safeguarding and information sharing concerns. You will oversee and improve the duty system while also overseeing rota systems including ensuring there is regular attendance at the MARAC and specialist court.

To be successful as the Ealing Service Manager you will need the below experience and skills:

You will have a thorough understanding of violence against women and girls with a particular focus on domestic violence (physical, emotional and sexual violence, ‘honour- based violence’, forced marriage and FGM). With an excellent understanding of the impact of domestic violence on children and young people, families and communities. A breadth and thorough knowledge of safeguarding practice, procedures and legislation. A good understanding of the operation of the criminal justice system, MARAC and public sector environment in which services operate. Brining significant experience of building and maintaining a strong and motivated team. With experience of delivering training and workshops in a multi-agency setting and a proven track record of building and maintaining networks and working with partner agencies and other stakeholders to develop and deliver services.

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Youth and Community Leader to manage and develop the work at Oasis Knights. This is an opportunity to lead a team committed to making a tangible difference in the lives young people, their families and the broader community. The successful candidate will be responsible for strategic leadership and operational management, which includes overseeing a range of youth and community activities. A critical aspect of this role involves fundraising, business development, and monitoring the impact of all initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

· Overseeing youth provision, including mentoring, youth clubs and targeted interventions.

· Ensuring effective financial management and income generation to sustain and expand services.

· Managing and growing a team of staff and volunteers, ensuring alignment with Oasis’ ethos and values.

· Building strong partnerships with local stakeholders to support the delivery of impactful youth projects.

· Developing and maintaining monitoring and evaluation frameworks to demonstrate the impact of activities.

· Working with the building narrative to ensure compliance with health and safety, safeguarding, and other statutory requirements.

The successful post holder must have:

· A degree-level qualification or equivalent in youth work, community development or a related field.

· Proven experience in leading youth projects and managing diverse teams.

· Strong fundraising and income generation skills, with the ability to create and implement successful strategies.

· Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships.

· Knowledge of safeguarding practices and experience working with young people in challenging environments.

The Active Wellbeing Society (TAWS) is a community benefit society and cooperative working with communities to identify, mitigate and remove barriers that prevent them from living active and connected lives. 

 As part of our approach, we are excited to be working in partnership to develop a health connector service which will focus on improving health outcomes for people with severe mental illness.

We are working in collaboration with Primary Care Networks (PCN) and The Primary Care Mental Health Teams who are delivered as part of a partnership between Forward-Thinking Birmingham (FTB) and the Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust (BSMHFT).

Job Purpose:

The Physical Health Connector will work within TAWS to support people experiencing mental health challenges, severe mental illness (SMI), and health inequalities to improve their physical health and wellbeing.

The role focuses on relationship based support, community engagement, and system navigation, helping people overcome barriers to accessing physical healthcare and wider support. The post holder will act as a trusted, nonclinical bridge between individuals, communities, and statutory services, particularly primary care. 

Requirements:

• Build trusting relationships with individuals through outreach, community presence and one-to-one telephone support (predominantly phone support from home), with people who are underserved or disengaged from statutory services.
• Educate through practical, emotional and motivational support using strengths-based, trauma-informed and culturally responsive approaches to support engagement with physical health.
• Engage and encourage individuals to access physical health checks and screenings, helping them understand what to expect and how to prepare for appointments. Driving individuals towards attending their appointments is key to success.
• Identify and address barriers to engagement such as stigma, access issues or past negative experiences of healthcare. Over the phone, coordinate appointments, send reminders, follow up disengagement and advocate for reasonable adjustments and person-centred care.
• Drive stakeholder and partner organisation engagement as a link between TAWS, primary care, mental health services and community partners to support joined-up working. Build effective relationships with GP practices, PCNs, mental health teams and VCFSE organisations, representing the VCFSE perspective when required.
• Work collaboratively with partners to avoid duplication and champion community-led solutions. Map, promote and refer into local community assets and VCFSE services that support physical and emotional wellbeing.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to monitoring and reporting requirements for funders and partners. Share learning, insight and community feedback to support service improvement and evaluation.

Experience, Knowledge and Values:

1. Experience of working in a voluntary, community, faith, social enterprise (VCFSE), community or outreach setting is essential.
2. Experience of supporting people with mental health needs, including Serious Mental Illness (SMI), health inequalities or social exclusion is required, with experience of psychosis, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder or addiction being desirable.
3. A sound understanding of trauma-informed and strengths-based practice, with the ability to apply these approaches in day-to-day work.
4. Experience of working in connector, navigator, link worker, peer support or advocacy roles would be an advantage.
5. Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with experience of engaging individuals through a range of methods including telephone (primarily), digital and face-to-face contact.
6. Ability to build trust with service users and develop effective professional relationships across health and community networks.
7. Good organisational and data management skills, with experience of maintaining accurate records and working towards agreed targets and KPIs.
8. Experience of using health or case management systems (such as Rio, SystmOne, EMIS or bespoke systems), alongside strong verbal, written and IT skills.
9. Demonstrable experience of working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders, including primary care, mental health services and community partners.
10. Resilient, flexible and able to remain calm in challenging situations, including when working with individuals affected by substance misuse, offending behaviour or homelessness.
11. A proactive, adaptable approach to managing competing demands and complex needs.

The role

The post holder will work alongside our Co-Executive Director, Head of Legal and Legal Administrator in developing and managing Foxglove’s legal work. You will develop and drive forward a significant number and range of cases, including the development of case theories, investigating and collecting evidence, drafting correspondence, evidence and submissions. You will also be responsible for coordinating and managing external legal teams, in multiple jurisdictions. This will require you to have the comfort and ability to navigate diverse settings, while also having the insight to weigh up the benefits and challenges of pursuing cases in different jurisdictions. You will serve as an external representative for Foxglove’s work, writing and speaking on topics of relevance. You will also be a sparring partner for others in the team, bringing a creative mindset and political savviness. UK and international travel are required. Flexibility with working hours will sometimes be needed.

Case Development and Management

• Build connections, and listen to affected communities, unearth and pursue issues caused by tech injustice, coming up with innovative legal solutions.
• Build and maintain relationships with impacted community members, unions, other lawyers, experts, co-counsel, intervenors, civil society organisations, whistleblowers, and the public.
• Explore and develop new and undiscovered opportunities for Foxglove to be impactful and effective in our work.

Person Specification

Essential

• Substantial experience in legal practice and conducting litigation and a demonstrated understanding of litigation strategies.
• Creative thinking and imagination.
• A strong interest in using the law to hold governments and companies to account.
• Qualified lawyer in any jurisdiction with at least 10 years of legal experience.
• Significant experience in legal practice in the UK.  
• Demonstrable commitment to supporting marginalised communities to access justice.
• Ability to learn new areas of law quickly and develop new areas of work.
• Good political antennae and excellent relationship building and management skills.
• Experience conducting cases from initial advice through to trial.
• Relevant experience in analysing complex factual and legal situations and helping to advise clients in accordance with their aims.
• Experience in dealing sensitively with clients, whistleblowers and experts.
• Experience in working on complex matters, which require analysis of large amounts of documents and data.
• Excellent communication skills, demonstrated by the ability to communicate accurately, clearly, concisely and persuasively, both verbally and in writing.
• Excellent time management skills demonstrated by the ability to organise and prioritise a complex workload and work to tight deadlines.
• Experience in working and leading a team environment.
• Comfort with working at both the details-driven operational level and big-picture strategic level, as well as the ability to navigate between the two.

Length and Salary

The role is permanent. The annual salary is £88,400 per annum less any required deductions for income tax and national insurance.

Our team works remotely, and this role can be based anywhere. We would prefer you to work within or close to UK office hours, but this is flexible. Our team travels every two months for team days and twice a year for team retreats. This role will include significant UK and international travel. Only candidates with the right to work in their location will be considered.
