No one should die because they needed first aid and didn’t get it. St John Ambulance teaches people first aid so they can be the difference between life and death, and you can help us do this.

We are seeking Event Nurses to respond to and manage emergency calls/incidents whilst attending events. Event nurses shall provide specialist, clinical, social and holistic care and undertake clinical assessment and interventions in the pre-hospital environment, which may include venues such as stadia, concert halls, motorsports tracks, road races etc. This will mainly involve working in treatment units or temporary event medical centres.

Successful candidates will be registered nurses with the NMC and be able to provide evidence of CPD activity within the previous 12 months.

Trustee for Wokingham Pride

Do you want to support and increase the effectiveness of our LGBTQ+ charity?
You could be a trustee for Wokingham Pride, our family & disability-friendly organisation

Wokingham Pride is a small, grassroots Pride charity, and we are growing.  We are here for support to the LGBTQ+ community in the Wokingham Borough area all year round, and run an annual, family-friendly event in Wokingham town centre. That event is free, and everyone who supports the aims of Pride is welcome. We have a particular aim of being accessible to people with a disability or are neurodiverse, and to younger members of the community, along with their families, obviously all within a LGBTQ+ focus.

We have grown Pride from very small beginnings in 2019, registered as a charity in 2024 and expect to run a slightly larger event in 2025, with a team of volunteers to spread the workload, and a well-governed organisation to support them.

 Wokingham Pride is looking for more trustees to oversee our Governance and build our strategic vision.  Now a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, we will turnover ~£2.5k this year, with hope to at least double that in the next few years.

The role and what we are looking for in a new trustee

Trustees are the people who make the top-level decisions for our charity.
Our Board includes people from the LGBTQ+ community, and we are looking for allies and supporters to join as new trustees, as well as more members of the LGBTQ+ community. All trustees must be trans-inclusive and have a strong empathy with our beneficiaries and our activities.

Although we’d welcome people without experience of charity or of trusteeship, we are also looking for those with some experience of charity Governance, in order to raise our understanding of, and performance as, a Registered Charity.

If you can think strategically and plan long-term, you have the primary skills needed by our trustees; you’ll need to be able to work collectively with other Board members.

We are a charity not a business, but we apply business principles to governing our organisation. We want to expand the diversity of our board, in all meanings of the word, and strongly welcome applications from people from less-represented groups. 

The focus of a trustee is strategic, and trustees will not be expected to get directly involved in the organisation’s operations on a day-to-day basis; however, contact and liaison with our operational volunteers is expected.   

We ask for up to eight hours of your time per month, which includes all meetings, discussions, etc.  You will need access to digital communications, as much of our charity’s business is run that way.

SRC operates across Scotland, offering a range of activities to support the creation, development, growth, and sustainability of recovery communities. We play a critical role in ensuring the voice of lived experience is heard at both local and national levels, and we use this approach to influence policy and practice. We amplify the voices of people and communities by campaigning, influencing, and evidencing the vital role and impact recovery has in reducing stigma, inequalities, and harm caused by problematic substance use.

Following a period of change and the current Trustees reaching the end of their tenure, the Board has recently conducted a strategic review of its governance arrangements. Treasurer:

As Treasurer, you will provide support and advice in relation to board and financial matters, maintaining an overview of SRC’s financial health. You will ensure that effective and appropriate financial measures, controls, and procedures are in place and consistently followed. At each Board meeting, you will present reports on the charity’s financial performance and overall stability.

We are looking for a highly experienced finance professional with a strong background in accounting, finance, or auditing. Ideally, you will be a qualified accountant with a deep understanding of financial management practices, particularly within the voluntary and community sectors. You will be confident in clearly presenting financial information, ensuring regulatory compliance, and advising the Board on financial strategy and risk.

As a Board Member of the Scottish Recovery Consortium (SRC), you will play a crucial role in overseeing the organisation’s operations, ensuring its activities align with SRC’s vision and mission. Your responsibilities will include helping to shape a clear and effective strategy while offering support and constructive challenge to the executive team, enabling the organisation to grow, thrive, and fulfil its mission.

We are particularly seeking individuals who share a strong commitment to SRC’s vision and bring expertise in one or more of the following areas: academia, research, human resources, or fundraising/funding.

SRC particularly values the perspectives of individuals with lived experience of alcohol and/or drug recovery, including family members, as these insights can help inform and strengthen the organisation’s work.

While previous board experience is beneficial, it is essential that candidates demonstrate strong communication skills, the ability to think creatively and strategically, and the capacity to exercise sound, independent judgement.

Time Commitment:

The SRC Board meets five times a year, including the Annual General Meeting (AGM). Board meetings are accessible either in person at their Glasgow office or online. However, attendance at the AGM is required in person.

The Bank Arts Centre (Eyes Open CIC) is a volunteer-led, not-for-profit Community Arts Centre providing a programme of creative and social activities including exhibitions, live events and workshops. At the heart of our offerings is our family-friendly café which continues to grow. To meet demand, we are looking for new volunteers to join our friendly team to assist with the day-to-day running of food and drink service.

As a Front of House Cafe Volunteer you will contribute to daily service including - greeting visitors, taking and preparing drinks orders, serving tables, maintaining clean and safe environment. This rewarding opportunity will allow you to develop new skills, gain confidence, become an active member in the community, and make a positive impact on our customers’ experience.
