Join Off The Record, an independent charity that has been proudly serving the Havant Borough area since 1977. Our mission is to empower young people and their families in South East Hampshire by supporting their emotional health and well-being. We provide vital one-on-one and family counseling, support, a young carers project and group services for individuals aged 8-25 and their families.

If you are passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people, we invite you to volunteer with us at our main office, located at 138 Purbrook Way, Leigh Park. We are currently seeking dedicated volunteers to support our counseling service by answering phones, providing information, engaging in friendly conversations, and offering signposting advice to clients awaiting our services and also opportunities to assist with awareness events and our group activities and young carers services.

What We Expect, Your Commitment to Us

• Submission of your CV, including explanations for any employment gaps, to comply with our rigorous safer recruitment processes
• A compelling cover letter detailing your motivations for wanting to volunteer at Off The Record.
• Two recent references from employers or academic sources (DBS checks will be carried out as a requirement of the role).
• Full attendance in the "Be A Volunteer" training program to gain essential skills and knowledge.
• A dedication to committing to a weekly group or rota slot, along with attendance at monthly support meetings (a minimum commitment of 2.5 hours per week plus one hour per month for supervision).

We are eager to welcome passionate individuals to start in Summer 2025, which will include a two-half-day training session, followed by shadowing and training on our systems and procedures.

Volunteer Mentors and Befrienders 

To provide consistent, positive support to young people aged 8–25, helping them to build confidence, develop life skills, and engage in positive activities. As a Mentor/Befriender, you will be a trusted role model — listening without judgment, encouraging personal growth, and helping young people feel valued and connected.

Key Responsibilities

• Build a supportive, respectful, and trusting relationship with your matched young person.

• Offer a listening ear and friendly conversation, providing encouragement and motivation.

• Support young people to set and work towards personal goals (e.g., education, hobbies, wellbeing).

• Encourage participation in social, educational, or community activities.

• Promote positive choices and help young people develop resilience and self-esteem.

• Maintain appropriate boundaries and safeguard the welfare of the young person at all times.

• Record session notes and share updates with the Volunteer Coordinator where appropriate.

• Attend induction and ongoing training sessions.

• Participate in regular supervision meetings.

Be part of something special and volunteer at MS Walk Cardiff. Join an incredible team of volunteers who will be helping to make MS Walk 2025 bigger and better than ever.

The 2025 event will have around 200 participants who will be walking through Cardiff on either the 1km, 5km or 10km route.

Together these participants will be hoping to raise over £25,000 for the MS Society to help support the MS Community.

There are various roles available on the day from making some noise and encouraging our walkers, to looking after the route and handing out medals at the finish.

Join our team of MS Walk volunteers and support everyone who is walking, rolling and strolling to stop MS.

You'll be required on Saturday 20th September 2025 for one day and there are various times throughout the day. Shifts will be from 2-6 hours depending on role and location.

There are no specific skills required just enthusiasm and a can-do attitude.’

We’re the MS Society – a community of people living with MS, scientists, campaigners, listeners, organisers, ambassadors and fundraisers. Our volunteers are a key part of achieving our goals and their support is vital. Join us. 

About this opportunity
We are looking to recruit an Event Volunteer for the Hambleton and Richmondshire Group. As an Event Volunteer, you will be participating in events and promoting them locally. 
We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.
This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones.

About you
You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally.
You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers.

● photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection

What we're looking for:

We need enthusiastic and outgoing volunteers who can cheer as loudly as possible for our runners as they go past our cheer points. Every year thousands of people join Team NSPCC to take on a challenge and raise money to help protect children and prevent abuse. Together with other cheerers, you'll make a huge difference to how our runners feel – helping them to complete a challenge they've spent months preparing for.

What you'll do:

You'll be joining other lively and enthusiastic cheerers at one of our NSPCC cheer points along the route – be ready for cheering, clapping, whooping or even singing. It's a team effort, so you would also help with setting up the cheer point, giving out t-shirts and cheering materials, making sure the area is kept tidy and helping with packing down.

We have several cheer points along the course, with staggered start times. We'll be in touch to arrange with you what time to arrive, where to meet and what to expect. You don't have to be an official cheerer to come along and support team NSPCC. So if you can't make the full-time or to one of our cheer points, we'd still love to see there, just look up the event time and come along.

What you'll get:

Volunteering at our events is a great way to experience the fantastic atmosphere of event days, without the training! The atmosphere at our cheer points is amazing, and we'll provide you with cheering materials and an NSPCC t-shirt so all you have to bring is your enthusiasm.

You'll be accompanied by NSPCC staff to support you and answer any questions you may have. Refreshments will be provided at the cheer points, and travel expenses will be covered up to the value of £5.

Who's right for the role?

You don't need any prior experience, just a sense of fun, team spirit and enthusiasm. It's important that you're able to spend a few hours outside, spending lots of this time cheering and clapping. You'll also need to stand for a few hours so, if you think this would be difficult, we'd advise bringing along a travel chair. If you are a wheelchair user, please let us know and we can help to identify a suitably accessible cheering point for you.

You'll need to feel comfortable if members of the public ask you about your volunteering role and will simply need to direct them to a member of staff if they have any questions about the NSPCC. We need volunteers with a warm and friendly manner, as the NSPCC is 90 per cent funded by public donations so the impression people have of us is incredibly important.

Please be aware that you'll need to make your own way to your cheer point (we will give you directions).

Event support volunteers help our events by marshalling, welcoming participants, setting up and stewarding.

Our volunteers help to run and structure the events better, keep participants safe and allow us to continue to raise money for our care services.

Event Volunteer

Wild Paths 2025 - Festival Support

16-18 October 2025

Various venues in Norwich city centre

This year, Shelter Norfolk have been chosen as the Charity Partner of Wild Paths Festival.

Wild Paths are asking for donations on ticket sales and at the bars. In return, Shelter are recruiting 20 volunteers to help at the festival across 13-19 October. Various shifts will be available.

Successful Shelter volunteers will be supported to join the Wild Paths Festival Team. They will have an induction to their role with the Wild Paths Team.

Roles Include:

We’re looking for enthusiastic, friendly volunteers to join our Cheer Points at Richmond Runfest 2025. Your mission? Cheer on and clap for our incredible runners as they raise vital funds for Alzheimer's Society.

By volunteering with us, you’ll be supporting our mission to give help to those living with dementia today and provide hope for the future. Every clap, cheer and smile you give helps drive our runners toward the finish line and brings us closer to a world where a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. 

You’ll be stationed along the route, creating an uplifting, high-energy atmosphere that keeps our fundraisers motivated all the way to the finish line.

Glow Walk returns for 2025, our shiniest event! Participants don their brightest gear, fairy lights and glow sticks and take on our 5km course in aid of Acorns. 

This event is accessible to all and there’s loads of extra fun in the event village.

Volunteer with us at Acorns Glow Walk 2025 on Saturday 25th October.

At Acorns we provide care and support for life limited or life threatened children and their families. We are a charity, and our fundraising is vital to enable us to continue providing care and support to the children: it costs around £11 million a year to run our care services.

What's involved?

We are looking for volunteers who can support with;

• Event set-up
• Course marshals
• Event village volunteers (tombola, merch stand, hook-a-duck, coconut shy etc.)
• Event pack-down
• Mascot (Alex the Acorn or others)

What's Involved?

We’re looking for friendly, enthusiastic volunteers to support us at two exciting events. You’re welcome to get involved in just one—or both, if you’re available.

Role 1: 'Mile with a Mascot’ Event Volunteer

• Volunteer time: Around 10:15 AM – 12:15 PM
• Event time: 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
• Location: Along the event route

What you’ll be doing:

• Helping to guide and cheer on participants
• Bringing energy and encouragement along the route
• Chatting with families and interacting with our mascots
• We also need one volunteer to dress up as Alex the Acorn – you can either walk the mile or stay in one spot to wave and cheer

Role 2: Match Day Collection Volunteer – Walsall FC

• Volunteer time: Around 1:00 PM – 5:30 PM
• Event: Walsall FC v Tranmere Rovers (Kick-off 3:00 PM)

What you’ll be doing:

• Supporting our fundraising team with bucket collections
• Helping at the Acorns Tombola Stand
• One volunteer will be needed to dress up as Alex the Acorn again

We’ll provide a match ticket, water, and free car parking

Volunteer Walsall FC Match Day Takeover - 20th September

Be part of something special and volunteer at MS Walk London. Join an incredible team of volunteers who will be helping to make MS Walk 2025 bigger and better than ever.
