We are so excited to be bringing SMASH SHERWOOD to Sherwood Pines for the third year! Set to take place on Sunday, June 29th, 2025, in the picturesque Mansfield area of Nottinghamshire, this trail running event promises an unforgettable experience through the stunning Sherwood Pines Forest.

Key Information

As a volunteer, you’ll play a crucial role in creating an unforgettable experience for runners and spectators alike. Whether you're helping with registration, handing out water, cheering on participants, or ensuring the event runs smoothly, your support will directly contribute to making a positive impact in our community.

Dress Code: Smash Sherwood takes place outdoors so please come prepared for all weather conditions. Ensure to bring warm, waterproof, comfortable clothing/footwear and check the weather in advance. You will be given a high-vis jacket to wear to make you identifiable as part of the event, but if you do have your own, please bring it along.

Lunch: To show our appreciation we will give you a voucher for the Sherwood Pines Café which will entitle you to a free hot drink and cake.  We do advise you to bring a packed lunch along with you also.

As a Community Emergency Volunteer (CEV), you will be at the forefront of emergency response efforts, working alongside emergency services and other organizations. This role not only allows you to contribute meaningfully during crises but also provides a pathway to progress into more specialized roles within the National Emergency Resilience Support Unit (NERSU) for dedicated volunteers.

Role Overview:
As a CEV, your tasks will vary based on community needs. Activities could range from administrative support, making refreshments, and transporting equipment, to more hands-on tasks like clearing debris from flooding, setting up rest centres, and delivering crucial information to residents. You will always work in small teams or paired with a buddy, ensuring a collaborative and supportive environment.

Skills and Experience Required:
- Must be over 18 years old.
- Applies good common sense in decision-making
- Enthusiastic about helping others in times of crisis.
- Ability to follow instructions to ensure safety.
- Strong teamwork skills, as solitary work is minimal.
- Access to personal transportation is beneficial for attending training sessions and deployments.

Commitment and Location:
The frequency and location of your assistance will vary depending on the nature of the emergency. CEV Units are established for each local council area across the UK, supported by County and Regional Leads. While local deployment is the norm, larger incidents may require travel, though this is voluntary.

Support and Training:
Volunteers will receive an online induction and necessary training to perform effectively. Membership with CAVRA includes essential equipment (Polo Shirt, Hi-Vis Jacket, ID) upon application and payment of the annual membership fee. A CEV Team Leader will be present at incidents to coordinate activities and provide support. Volunteers are covered by the Charity’s Liability Insurance, provided all administrative requirements are met.

Personal Growth:
This role offers free training, new knowledge about emergencies, and the chance to develop skills not typically encountered in everyday life. It’s an opportunity to meet like-minded individuals, engage in diverse activities, and experience the rewarding nature of volunteering. Your data will be securely managed by CAVRA admin staff. Membership costs £50.00 per year, including your initial uniform and ID. A DBS check, costing £21.50, is required.

A bit about this role

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

What can you expect to be doing?

• Supporting and encouraging a team of fundraising volunteers
• Planning fundraising events and activities with your team
• Allocating tasks before and during fundraising events
• Keeping financial records from fundraising events
• Encouraging and promoting a professional image of Cats Protection

Our Staffordshire Independent Visitor Service is looking for volunteers in or near to Telford.

• Are you passionate about wanting to help young people?
• Do you have 2 to 4 hours to spare, once a month?
• Are you ready to make a long-term, regular, commitment?

If the answer is yes and you would like to support a child or young person currently in the care of their local authority, then we would love to hear from you.

You will decide with your young person what to do, but activities could include going to the cinema, bowling, playing football, going to a restaurant, riding a bike, or walking in a park.  We will match you with a child you share common interests with.

You do not need experience of working with children and young people, just an interest in their development and welfare. Full training and support are provided.

Here’s a few of the young people we have waiting for a volunteer:

• Amy (12) lives with an older carer, she would like an active Independent Visitor who can do sports with her.
• Brad (13) lives in residential care with other young people, he doesn’t have anyone in his family visit. He would like an Independent Visitor to take him out and have fun, like the other young people.
• Cassie (16) lives with carers in a new town, she doesn’t have any friends in the area yet. She would like an Independent Visitor to help with her confidence and going out in the local area, she loves hot chocolate and cake.
• Danny (11) lives with foster carers and attends a special school. He would like an Independent Visitor to help him be more independent, he likes parks, aeroplanes, and animals.
• Emma (9) lives with her carer in a very busy household, she would like an Independent Visitor to spend some time with her on her own trying different activities together.

The Application

• Volunteering mainly happens at weekends and after school hours as the young people are usually in school during the daytime
• The role requires commitment of at least 24 months with one visit per month; this ensures stability for the Child or Young Person

VOLUNTEER ADMINISTRATOR

Across the UK, our 65 local branches work with disabled people to help them live the lives they choose. Our network of skilled volunteers respond to thousands of requests each year to design and make customised equipment free of charge.

Our Administrator volunteers are the lynchpin our local branch activities. They act as the first point of contact, ensure useful information is circulated to other members and help us make sure we keep all the data and details we need up to date.

What the role involves

This is a varied role that each branch tends to do a bit differently, but it will involve:

• Keeping records and data up to date and taking notes at meetings

• Preparing mail-outs

• Answering enquiries

• Accessing the branch Remap Email and Portal accounts

• Booking venues for meetings

• Ensuring branch members are aware of current agreements/activities

We can support you to develop the skills you need for this role, and there’s an induction that covers all the areas above. You’ll also have chance to discuss your role and any additional needs with us.

What you’ll need for this role

• Confident using Microsoft Office, the internet and email

• Comfortable organising the administration of a group
