With almost 700 members, AdviceUK is the biggest network of advice services in the UK. Since 1979, we have been supporting advice providers with training, information, and advocacy to help them create greater social impact. In 2024 alone, our members helped 2.8 million people with issues including debt, housing, employment, immigration and asylum, welfare benefits, and consumer rights.
Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, we are constantly exploring new and innovative ways to strengthen the advice sector. Our vision? A society wherein every individual, regardless of means, is able to access the advice they need to exercise their rights and deal with any legal and social welfare problems they may face.
So what does the Treasurer role at AdviceUK look like?
Are you looking for a voluntary role that is rewarding and offers you the chance to provide leadership with your financial expertise?
The Board is responsible for our strategic direction and governance, ensuring we achieve our charitable objects and are well run. Day-to-day management of the organisation is delegated to the Chief Executive and staff, while the Board focuses on general direction and oversight.
We are currently looking for an experienced finance professional to join our Board as Treasurer. The Treasurer/Finance Trustee plays a key role in overseeing the charity’s financial health and ensuring the Board can make informed, responsible decisions.
The role can fit around existing commitments, both professional and personal. Previous trustee experience isn’t required, and you will be supported into the role through an onboarding and induction process.

Trustee needed for Faith in Action Homelessness Project. We are seeking a Trustee to join our committed Board working to end homelessness in Merton.
About Us: FiA runs a twice weekly drop in for homeless and vulnerably housed people and a Winter Night Shelter which works in collaboration with faith groups including a Mosque, a Synagogue, a Hindu Temple and Christian churches to provide overnight accommodation and support to find long term housing solutions.
Our Small Team consists of a Manager, a Winter nightshelter co-ordinator and seven part time staff. The Trustee team is a very hands on group - many are volunteers at the night shelter or drop in and it is a very committed and passionate team.
We are looking for three new trustees to make our board up to 12.
The Trustee role
This role involves more than just attending meetings. We are responsible for:
Setting the strategic direction of the charity
Ensuring tranparency and accountablity
Taking specific areas of responsibility - leading on fundraising, or staff recruitment, or governance or communication and PR for the charity.
We are particularly interested in hearing from individuatls who can lead on the following areas:
1. Fundraising - especially developing partnerships with local businesses
2. Communications - including managing our strategy on social media and community engagement
3, Governance - supporting the development of policies and procedures
4. HR - offering advice on recruitment and management of staff

Respect is the umbrella organisation for the perpetrator sector, working with their members, partners and allies to stop the harms done by those who perpetrate domestic abuse. They provide leadership and guidance to their members, and use their voice, in collaboration with others, to call for a response to domestic abuse that matches the scale of the problem.
Passionate about good practice, Respect works closely with a number of partners across the domestic abuse sector to develop strategic, multi-agency responses to domestic abuse including Women’s Aid Federation England, SafeLives and Social Finance and Safe & Together Institute.
About the Chair role:
As Chair, you will have the opportunity to shape and lead the future of a unique charity, working with other trustees, the CEO and the team, to help reach Respect’s goal of ending domestic abuse.
The Chair will play a pivotal role in guiding the Board and Executive Leadership Team through an evolving internal and external environment, ensuring strong governance, clear strategic direction and effective leadership so that Respect continues to deliver impact while maintaining organisational health and sustainability.
The ideal candidate will have experience in the following areas:
- Previous experience at Board level as Chair/Vice Chair

As a member of the board you will ultimately be responsible for the overall direction, vision and strategy of Law for Life. We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Treasurer to work alongside the Chair, Board, CEO and Finance Manager to ensure the charity’s financial wellbeing, accountability, and sustainability.
You will have the ability to innovate, to think strategically, while demonstrating sound judgement. You will help us to move on to the next stage of our three year strategic plan.
We are looking to appoint individuals who share our values in social justice and legal empowerment and would like to become involved. In particular, we would also like to hear from people who have experience in any of the following areas:
- People with experience in financial management, accounting, audit, or a senior finance role in a relevant sector.
