VOLUNTEER WALK FOR PAWS CO-ORDINATOR

Location: UK (remote)
Reporting to: Head of Campaigns
Hours: Approx. 3-5 hours per week (flexible)
Time period: Approx 4 months (July - October 2025) with the opportunity to continue beyond this if interested.

We’re IAPWA (International Aid for the Protection & Welfare of Animals) - a UK-registered animal welfare charity dedicated to creating a better future for animals in need. 

Our charity is small but mighty! Since our inception in 2009 we have helped over 50,000 animals through our projects and support programmes across the globe. From managing humane dog and cat population projects to reduce the number of puppies and kittens born to suffer on the streets, to providing aid to companion animals, working donkeys, and endangered wildlife - our work is vast. And we're not slowing down any time soon.

As a small charity we can’t do what we do without the support of volunteers and fundraisers. That’s where you come in.

THE ROLE

Walk for Paws is an exciting fundraising initiative that empowers supporters to organise sponsored dog walks to raise vital funds for dogs and cats in need. This summer, we’re scaling it up to support our huge upcoming animal welfare project. We urgently need to raise money to help dogs and cats living in terrible conditions in an animal centre in Borneo - but we need your help to make it a success.

We’re looking for a passionate and proactive Volunteer Walk for Paws Co-ordinator to help grow this campaign over a 4-month period. You’ll play a key role in growing, inspiring and supporting our community of Pack Leaders - the people who run Walk for Paws events in their local area.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in community fundraising and supporter engagement, while directly contributing to improving the lives of animals in need.
 

The Volunteer Walk for Paws Co-ordinator will:

• Help grow our Walk for Paws programme by identifying and reaching out to potential supporters, such as dog walking groups, community organisations, and local businesses

• Onboard new Pack Leaders, supporting them to set up and promote their Walk for Paws fundraising events

• Maintain regular, friendly communication with Pack Leaders, answering questions and helping them feel confident and supported

• Come up with creative ideas and mini campaigns to encourage more people to take part in Walk for Paws

• Track fundraising activity and work closely with IAPWA’s team to support Pack Leaders with resources and recognition

• Be an ambassador for IAPWA and the Walk for Paws initiative, helping raise awareness and support for our cause

The ideal person will be:

• A friendly, enthusiastic communicator who enjoys engaging with people and building relationships

• A self-starter who is happy working independently and bringing their own ideas to the table

• Organised and reliable, with good attention to detail and follow-up

• Passionate about animal welfare and making a difference

• Experience in fundraising, supporter care, or community outreach (even in a voluntary or informal setting) is helpful but not essential

We have an exciting opportunity for supporters of Bath Cats & Dogs Home who may not be able to commit to a weekly volunteer slot to get involved in events throughout the year. This varied role offers you the chance to experience different volunteering positions, ranging from street collections and in-store fundraising drives to large events including the Bath Half Marathon and our annual Wag Walk. Each of these events are equally important to raising vital funds for the Home as well as raising our profile in the community.

About the Role 

Volunteering at events offers you the opportunity to meet other volunteers and learn about how you each support the Home. Events volunteering can demonstrate how Bath Cats & Dogs Home has touched so many people's lives. You will meet former residents of Bath Cats & Dogs Home at Wag Walk and hear about their adoption journey, as well hearing from runners at the Bath Half why they are fundraising for us. If you have a relaxed dog that likes meeting people, you are welcome to bring them along with you to street collections and fundraising drives as this is always a conversation starter!

• Fundraising drives at Pets at Home's Bath and Trowbridge stores

Most events take place during the day on weekends, with the exception of Pets at Home's Santa Paws fundraising drive, which includes some weekdays. 

About You

If you have a love for animals, are outgoing and enjoy meeting new people, this may be the volunteering role for you! You will need to be confident and have an approachable nature as you will be speaking with members of the public about the work that we do. At street collections, the Bath Half Marathon and Wag Walk, you may be required to stand for over an hour at a time, which should be considered upon application. 

All volunteers are required to complete online Health & Safety training prior to their start date. Due to insurance restrictions, all volunteers must be over the age of 18. 

Join us at Brighton Racecourse for a fundraising bucket collection! As a volunteer, you'll receive a ticket to the event, giving you the chance to watch some of the races while supporting a great cause. 

Role Details: 
Volunteers will assist by collecting donations from the public using buckets and card machines. Collections will take place after the races and at the Shelter stand. 

Availability: Flexible shifts available between 1:00 PM – 5:30 PM

About CARAS:

Community Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers (CARAS) is a charity that supports refugees and people seeking asylum who live in south London. We offer a range of individual and group support to improve the holistic wellbeing of people who have a background of forced migration, providing them with tools to build lives filled with value, meaning and purpose in the UK. Our activities for young people currently include: ESOL classes (English for Speakers of Other Languages), study group, youth club, swimming lessons and football.

About Youth Club:

Youth Club is a place for young people aged 14-19 to come and play games, learn new skills, make and strengthen friendships and build a sense of belonging. Regular activities include classic youth club games such as table tennis, pool, foosball, board and card games. We also work in partnership with a range of organisations to run a rich programme of workshops within our youth club. Some of these have included creative visual arts, drama, music and workshops on rights and entitlements of young asylum seekers. We also cook a hot meal from time to time and offer a range of snacks each week. Our casework team are also on-site to support young people with a range of advice and signposting needs, usually by-appointment.

About the role:

As a Youth Club volunteer, you would be helping young people to feel welcome, join in with activities and be a great role model.

Youth Club takes place every Wednesday at 6.00-8.30pm. We ask for a commitment of at least 2 sessions per month for a minimum of 6 months.

Tasks and responsibilities:

· To attend and contribute to volunteer de-briefs which occur 15 minutes after each session.

· To act as a positive role model and set standards of behaviour when volunteering with young people.

· To encourage and inspire young people to reach their full potential.

· To assist young people to both recognise and celebrate their achievements.

· To challenge young peoples’ negative attitudes and behaviour in an appropriate manner.

· To adhere to CARAS Child Protection procedures, Confidentiality policy, Health & Safety policy, Equal Opportunities policy and all other policies as relevant.

Requirements:

To be 18 years or older;

· To be non-judgemental and able to engage with people from diverse cultural backgrounds;

· To be reliable and punctual;

· Excellent communication skills, especially with people with varying levels of English;

· The ability to volunteer on Wednesday evenings for a minimum of six months;

· Current resident of the UK;

· Able to provide five years’ worth of addresses, and willing to undergo a DBS check;

· Able to attend compulsory volunteer induction training (online) general and safeguarding prior to the start of role

Volunteer induction training currently takes place online once a month on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evenings from 6pm - 8pm. we offer the same trainings on Tuesday and Wednesday daytimes online between 12noon - 2pm once every 3 months.

Your availability to attend 1 general and 1 safeguarding online training session at these times within 3 months of your application would be a prerequisite of being accepted as a volunteer at CARAS.

Desirable:

· Knowledge of community languages, such as (including Arabic, Tigrinya, Amharic, Pashto, Dari, Farsi, Kurdish, Somali and Spanish).

Through volunteering with us you will:

Puppy Support Volunteers support our Puppy Training Regions, to provide short term care and holiday cover for puppies/dogs from 8 weeks onwards. This ranges from a day cover to a few weeks care, maintaining the basic care and individual exercise requirements of the puppy as well as helping them to adapt to living with different carers and routines. To maintain basic training according to Canine Partners’ methods and continue behaviour plans for their development age, such as toilet training and loose lead walking, both in the home and in residential areas.

What is involved

Care for a dog in your home as a temporary placement. This can range from days, weekends, weeks, months, depending on the charity’s needs.

Be available for:

• Virtual online training
• One-to-ones in the community
• Group sessions in the community
• Attend classes to learn and keep up to date with the techniques being used
• Maintain basic training and obedience in the home and local residential areas
• Be available for pre-planned holiday and emergency cover
• Attend vet visits when necessary
• Maintaining the dog’s health and welfare and, via support and training, to recognise behaviour/health concerns and report them immediately to your Canine Partners trainer
• Raise awareness of Canine Partners

What we require from you

• The primary puppy volunteer must be 18 years of age or over.
• You will need to reside in a house/bungalow/ground floor flat with a dog friendly secure garden (non-shared). Please note that we are unable to accept a townhouse for puppies under the age of 6 months due to health and safety risks to the volunteer and puppy.
• If you are a dog owner with no more than two pet dogs of suitable temperament, as assessed during the home check, you are welcome to apply.  They must be over 18 months of age and have lived within the home for at least six months.
• Commit to attend regular group classes even when without a dog (once a month) to maintain knowledge and application of the training expected when the dogs are with you.
• Practical and physical role with the ability to recognise your own limitations.’  For example, lifting and carrying a 12kg puppy
• Settling the puppy/dog into a new home requires time and patience. It can take a while for them to feel completely relaxed. Settling in period will be different with each puppy/dog.
• Keep in touch with your staff point of contact with regular updates
• Access to own transport to travel to vet appointments and meet your trainer, as required
• Understand that the dog in your care remains under the ownership of Canine Partners, and as such advice from canine Partners representatives should be followed.

Support and Training

• Induction process which includes submitting of an information form, telephone interview, home visit, training, and handling sessions
• Each volunteer is allocated a Canine Partners Puppy Training Coordinator as their first point of contact.
• Receive regular training, resources, and other essential information via your Puppy Training Coordinator, this may be in the format of verbal instructions, physical copies, digital instructions, video, and webinar resources or in person.
• No previous dog ownership experience is needed but you must meet the criteria listed above to be considered.
• Holiday cover and appointments cover can be arranged.
• Payment of expenditure such as mileage to and from a training session with a Canine Partner representative
• Access to our volunteer portal with many resources for your use.

About Candlelighters

Each year, over 150 children in Yorkshire are diagnosed with cancer. When a child is diagnosed, lives are turned upside down instantly: not just for the child but the entire family. Getting well again can be a long and challenging journey, emotionally, physically, and financially.

Supporting children and families throughout that journey is why our charity, Candlelighters, was formed more than 40 years ago. Our mission is to bring light to every family affected by childhood cancer across Yorkshire by providing emotional, practical and financial support, as well as bringing hope, by investing in vital research to improve the outcomes and lives of children with cancer.

Purpose of the Role and Key Activities

The Family Support Office Volunteer provides administrative and practical help to the Family Support Team, who play a key role in running events and groups and providing support to our families across Yorkshire.

· Recording and updating information on our database.

· Reviewing and updating support resources.

· Corresponding with families, supporters and potential volunteers.

· Answering the phone, transferring calls and taking messages.

· Making phone-calls to confirm appointments, speak to event attendees etc

· Analysing questionnaire feedback.

· Making up new patient bags.

· Sending out invitations.

· Helping to prepare resources, merchandise and equipment for events.

· Stock taking and alerting the team when merchandise needs restocking.

· Franking letters and parcels.

· Providing occasional cover for Front of House (answering the door to families and supporter, making coffees, answering phones, taking messages).

· Assisting other teams within the charity with tasks and activities as required.

· Maintaining professional boundaries at all times.

ROLDA UK are now seeking Volunteer Community Outreach Officer to help reach out to local volunteers, facilitate small activities in the community, and raise awareness of our charity's mission to rescue and rehabilitate stray and abandoned animals.

Your Role

• Help ROLDA UK build a local presence within your community by networking and growing local volunteers who are interested in animal welfare and ask them to join you.

• Create new opportunities within your local community and grow a network of volunteers who can get involved in local fundraising events like charity walks, bake sales, and helping to run local stalls etc.

ROLDA does not support visa applications for volunteers. All in-person volunteers must have the legal right to volunteer in the country where they are located. It is the volunteer's responsibility to ensure they meet the necessary visa and work authorisation requirements before participating in any activities with ROLDA. Greenwich + Docklands International Festival (GDIF) is London's leading festival of free outdoor theatre and performing arts. It is supported by a team of 150 volunteers, and is proud to be the first festival in the UK to be awarded Platinum level in Attitude is Everything's Live Events Access Charter.

The festival runs from 22 August - 6 September 2025.

GDIF is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to play an essential role in the festival’s delivery. Whether it's providing a friendly face to visitors, being a team leader, or championing access in the arts, the experience will be yours to make your own.

Team Leader: Would you like to help coordinate a team? We are looking for confident people to help coordinate volunteer teams at this year’s festival. Team leaders will be chosen before the festival and given additional training.

Access Champion: Passionate about accessibility? We put provision in each year to make the festival as accessible as possible to our D/deaf and disabled audiences. In this role you would help broaden access to art by supporting the access team across our events. Access champions will be chosen before the festival and given additional training.

We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers from all walks of life in Herefordshire to befriend and mentor a young person in care. This is a meaningful opportunity to make a significant impact in a young persons life.

 Children and young people in care deserve to have a trusted adult who can share their time, engage in activities, and provide a safe and fun friendship. Your visits can easily fit into your schedule, allowing you to balance your commitments while being a positive force in someone’s life.

We ask for a commitment of just a few hours once a month for a minimum of two years. We cover activity and travel expenses.

We are looking for enthusiastic and energetic volunteers to help at this Wellness Walk for the morning, for the afternoon or for the whole day.

How can you get involved?

Help us set up in the morning and prepare for the big day and welcome walkers. This could include helping hand out event t-shirts, route maps or answering questions. You could then take on the walk or relax.

Help us throughout the day, supporting our team as we set walkers off and welcome them back to our wellness celebration.

Cheer our supporters on as they come back from their walk and hand out medals.

Help us pack down at the end of the day.

Volunteers who are based at the event site can take on a variety of different roles and work in morning or afternoon shifts, including:

• Answering walkers’ questions and directing around the site
• Handing out t-shirts and event packs at the registration tent
• Cheering our walkers back into the Finisher’s Area and on the route
• Handing out medals

At Sense we know that it's not easy being a young carer or sibling of a disabled child. Their wellbeing and happiness are just as important. That’s why Sense supports activities and sessions specifically for young people aged 5-18 who have a caring role for a parent, carer, or sibling.

We run a range of virtual and in person activities throughout the month. Our sessions are based on what the young people tell us they like doing, giving them a break, and also providing opportunities to meet and develop friendships with other young people in a similar situation.

Our Siblings and Young Carers in person activity group sessions take place once a month. Activities include picnics, bowling, arts and crafts and rock climbing, enabling the young people to spend time doing fun things with other siblings and young carers with similar experiences.

You do not need to have any previous experience working with siblings or young carers as we will provide you with training and ongoing support to equip you for your role.

Practical Considerations

This project is based in Loughborough, either at our Sense College or out in the community . Our activity group runs once per month, for 3.5 hours on a Saturday. Ideally you would be able to commit to at least 6 months of volunteering.

An essential part of getting ready to volunteer is attending a training session where you'll learn more about your volunteer role, the specific needs of children and young carers and how to keep young people on the project safe.

Your travel expenses will be covered by Sense. 

You must be 18 or over to volunteer. We collect two references for this role as well as complete a Child and Adult Enhanced DBS. 

Parkinson's UK local groups offer friendship, support, and numerous activities for people affected by Parkinson's.

In Winchester, the group is a core part of the local Parkinson's community. As a committee volunteer you'll help connect people to the group, whilst making sure existing members stay up to date with the activities provided. You could have a hand in arranging activities too, whether it's seated yoga, or a chance for friends and family of those living with Parkinson's to meet - and all activities are open to you too.

You'll build existing connections, and meet new people in your local area, all whilst making a difference to those living with Parkinson's in Winchester.

The group meets each month, but many of our volunteers undertake parts of their roles from home - at a time that suits them. This is a flexible role, and you could be doing any or all of the tasks on the role description - speak to your staff contact for more detail.

Local groups across the UK are run by volunteers and offer friendship and support to people living with Parkinson's and their families and friends. Each group has a committee, who work together to plan the groups activities or fundraising - all in line with Parkinson's UK guidelines.

• Keep up to date about the news and developments of Parkinson's UK more widely, sharing these with the group
