Could you use your social media, marketing and communications experience to raise the profile of a small charity? Help us to increase our social media presence and engagement, generate greatr content and help promote existing activities.

Our charity delivers a range of awareness campaigns and support services to patients, relatives, partners and carers who have been affected by a poorly understood pain condition; Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). We are looking for 2 experienced social media and communications volunteers who are able to develop posts and campaigns from design to inception, create fresh and engaging content, increase engagement and to increase awareness of the charity and of the condition we represent.

Even though we are a small organisation we have big ideas and would like to draw on your experience in the communications world to help the charity deliver engaging content and communications to help us spread our aims and message to all our audience.

What Will You Be Doing?

• Engagement: Help increase engagement, improve the number of followers/likes, create & execute a content calendar
• Content Creation: Produce fresh, branded and engaging content for our social media channels 
• Graphics: Prepare graphics and text for sharing across channels 
• Engage with our followers and encourage interaction 
• Manage and maintain social media channels on a regular basis
• Support charity campaigns, marketing, events and fundraising activities by promoting them on our social media feeds
• Use your creative skills to support strategies to engage, grow, and widen our target audiences
• Develop publicity materials and communication techniques for social media to raise awareness of our chronic condition 

You will be with a small team of volunteers who will provide an overview of our existing social media content, our brand and how we have approached our social media content to date. 

Experience
We are looking for a volunteer who has experience in:

• Different types of marketing and communications media, including electronic and social media
• Writing and editing marketing content for social media platforms including Facebook, X, Pinterest, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn (especially TikTok, Instagram Reels & posts and YouTube)
• Building strategies to increase social media following and /or build fundraising or awareness campaigns
• Developing a coherent brand voice for social media, from content creation to community interactions
• Using and setting up tools such as Buffer, Canva etc
• Creating and executing content calendars to help plan social media activity 

Skills Required

• Excellent written communication skills
• Accuracy and attention to detail

• Good computer and digital skills

Rainforest Trust UK is seeking a Volunteer Research Assistant to support our fundraisers with identifying and researching potential new donors, other funders and advocates. Our research activities are hugely important as they inform, guide and direct our fundraising efforts and you will help us to secure invaluable funds for our conservation programmes across the globe. 

This role would be ideal for an aspiring major donor or trusts & foundations fundraiser or someone who loves to research, has an interest in data, an eye for detail and is passionate about fundraising for environmental causes. There will be a strong focus on ethical fundraising practices such as GDPR compliance and completing due diligence on prospects. 

We will provide induction training and appropriate ongoing support and guidance relevant to the role. By the end of the volunteering opportunity we hope that you will be a confident fundraising researcher with the ability to identify funding sources, make good judgement calls and be able to support fundraising managers. 

This role is based remotely.

Position Overview:
The Programme Specialist is critical in supporting the delivery of a high-impact employability and skills development programme. Working under the guidance of the Programme Lead, this position focuses on coordinating projects, managing participant engagement, and ensuring the smooth execution of training initiatives, mentorship activities, and job placement efforts. The Programme Specialist directly empowers individuals to achieve workforce readiness and sustainable employment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Coordination:

   • Assist in managing day-to-day activities of the programme, including onboarding, skills assessments, and skills development of participants.

   • Track progress against programme milestones (e.g., participant enrollment and completion rates) and flag delays to the Programme Lead.

2. Participant Support:

   • Serve as a primary point of contact for participants, addressing inquiries and providing guidance on programme resources, training modules, and job search tools.

   • Maintain accurate participant records, including attendance, skill assessments, and post-program outcomes.

3. Stakeholder Engagement:

   • Support the Programme Lead in building relationships with internal stakeholders.

4. Data Management & Reporting:

   • Collect and analyse data on participant progress, employment outcomes, and programme effectiveness using CRM systems or databases.

   • Prepare regular reports for the Programme Lead to inform decision-making and demonstrate impact to funders/stakeholders.

5. Logistics & Compliance:

   • Manage programme materials, including training resources, digital platforms, and participant handbooks.

1. Continuous Improvement:

   • Gather feedback from participants and partners to identify opportunities to enhance programme delivery.

Required Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Education, Human Resources, or a related field.

• Experience:

EQUAL AQUA is an award-winning NGO providing equal access to water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) in Uganda. Equal Aqua is managed by an international team of 30+ volunteers, based mainly in the UK and Uganda, but spanning over 10 countries.We are looking to expand and diversify our team of volunteers – seeking candidates with knowledge and skills in various fields, and a deep passion for our cause. 

JOB SUMMARY: 

Join our team as an Events & Community Fundraising Officer, working alongside the Fundraising Manager to develop and expand our community engagement and events portfolio. Play a pivotal role in creating innovative fundraising products, fostering relationships within our local communities, and supporting key fundraising initiatives to drive income growth and supporter engagement. 

ROLE & RESPONSBILITIES  

• Collaborate with the Fundraising Manager to design and implement community and events strategies, including the development of new fundraising products and campaigns. 

• Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with local schools, community groups, corporate partners, and individual fundraisers to generate new income streams. 

• Develop engaging supporter journeys to inspire memorable experiences, encourage repeat contributions, and deepen supporter loyalty. 

• Support the team in planning and delivering special events, including the annual fundraiser concert, Water Wheel, and other high-profile fundraising activities. 

• Secure new corporate partnerships through sponsorships, Charity of the Year and other award programs, and collaborative fundraising initiatives.

• Assist with planning, promotion, and execution of both EA-organized and third-party fundraising events. 

KEY REQUIREMENTS 

ESSENTIAL 

Experience: 

• Demonstrated success in achieving or surpassing fundraising or sales targets within the charity, nonprofit, or commercial sectors. 

• Proven experience working in supporter-focused environments. 

• Solid project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously. 

• Experience working within high-performing teams, including remote working arrangements. 

Skills: 

• Excellent networking and relationship management capabilities. 

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation abilities. 

• Proficiency in IT tools such as Windows, MS Office, and fundraising databases, particularly Raiser’s Edge (or similar). 

• Exceptional time management and prioritization skills. 

Knowledge:

• Knowledge of regional and corporate fundraising practices. 

• Familiarity with sector legislation and best practices related to fundraising, data protection, health and safety, etc.

• Previous experience within the voluntary or charity sector is advantageous.

We're a not for profit Community Energy organisation operating in Southwark and Lambeth and has been established by members of the South London community to relieve fuel poverty by providing renewable energy locally. We have been set up as a Community Benefit Society, which means we are a business managed for the benefit of the community. It’s is run by its shareholders, and shareholding is open to everyone.

We were established in 2023 and received grants from four funds (Government, Mayor of London, Southwark Council, Centrica Energy for Tomorrow) and a fuel poverty alleviation contract from Uk Power Networks (Leaving No One Behind) in 2024 to set up our pilot projects. We have two part time paid managers running the fuel poverty activity and the overall programme.

Our pilot projects include a fuel poverty service delivering energy advice and support for those in need and we currently have five trained energy champions who work with us part-time. We are also running feasibility studies for four solar arrays on housing estates and we’re exploring different possible business models. If we can make this work then we will be setting a precedent for a model for renewables on mixed tenure estates and long term financial sustainable fuel poverty alleviation.

At this exciting and pivotal time at the beginning of our journey we are looking for a Treasurer to support our organisation by overseeing the financial affairs.

The Role

The Treasurer will be overseeing the work of Martin, our dedicated Lead Finance Volunteer, who is an accountant working in Government and has been supporting our work for several months. We estimate that the treasurer role will require an average of less than one day a month, including attendance at six board meetings a year and weekly half hour meetings as necessary to be a mentor to Martin. We hold board meetings every other month on Tuesdays 1-2.30pm. The majority of these are held online with occasional in person meetings in Southwark. The Treasurer will also be responsible for holding a general oversight of financial activities and ensuring that we are keeping in line with our financial responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee financial matters to ensure that the organisation is compliant with regulations and good practice
• Support the finance team and other members of the board to ensure that effective financial procedures are in place
• Support the team in maintaining accurate financial records and oversee the year-end and funders financial reporting processes
• Advise on finance related initiatives that could benefit the society and input to strategy
• Support the creation of financial prospectuses for community share offers

Essential Qualities, Skills and Experience

• Chartered accountant with at least three years experience
• Understanding of financial management in organisations
• Ability to communicate financial information in a clear and effective manner
• Interest in renewables, sustainability and Community Energy
• Willingness and ability to work as part of a team and build good relationships
• Willingness to mentor our Lead Finance Volunteer

Desirable Qualities, Skills and Experience

• Experience of Community Energy and/or the renewable energy sector
• Knowledge of social enterprise structures
• Experience of being on the board of a not for profit organisation
• Being a resident of or having a connection to South London

What we need from you

This is a really flexible role, you can choose what you’d like to get involved with, for example: 

• face-to-face fundraising. Organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins 

• online fundraising. Setting up online appeals and writing impactful cat case studies that maximise donations

• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  

• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork

● championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

● photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection

Main purpose of role:

To support the Fundraising Manager with all aspects of fundraising, with a particular focus on donor stewardship, and small grants/trusts/community fundraising.

The role will be hands on and has the potential for you to learn and develop a variety of fundraising skills.

Responsibilities and key tasks:

• To research and draft applications to small grants and trust.

• Proactively use the fundraising database to develop and manage supporters and ensure all activities are recorded accurately and in line with GDPR

• To assist the Fundraising Manager/Treasurer with the reconciliation of our income and financial processes.

• To assist the Fundraising Manager with the planning and collation of the annual and biannual major funders monitoring reports requests.

• General fundraising/administration duties, as and when required

• This role is expected to meet the minimum financial target per year.

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes

Essential

Excellent written and oral communication skills.  Ability to work independently and a strong team player. Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with a diverse range of people. Ability to deal with information in a confidential manner. Highly organised with ability to prioritise a varied and demanding workload. Confident IT skills including Microsoft Office. Desirable. Project management skills. Experience working in a voluntary sector preferrable but not essential.
