 At Acorns we provide care and support for life limited or life threatened children and their families. We are a charity, and our fundraising is vital to enable us to continue providing care and support to the children: it costs around £13 million a year to run our care services. 

Join our fundraising team and be part of something amazing on Sunday, 11th May at Malvern Theatre! We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help collect donations and support Acorns Children's Hospice.

There are two shows, with collections at 2:30 PM and 6:30 PM. You’re welcome to join us for either—or both!

About the role 

As a Regional Fundraising Volunteer, you will support Rethink Mental Illness in generating income, raising awareness, and building community engagement through local fundraising initiatives. The role will involve event planning and support, and public engagement to help achieve regional fundraising goals. 

You will play a major part in bringing to life regional fundraising activities in line with our “Rethink in the Community" concept and increase regional awareness to generate much needed additional income and amplify the impact of the work Rethink Mental Illness do.

You will receive training and regular supervision to ensure you feel confident in your role.

About the role

The Island Lead Volunteer is a key volunteer role within local Scouting with responsibility for providing outstanding leadership and support for the Groups on the Island. The primary focus for the Island Lead Volunteer is to ensure that Scouting is able to reach every young person on Jersey; open to all regardless of faith, colour or social background, because we believe Scouting has the ability to change lives. This is achieved by leading the team of Group Lead Volunteers, and other Island volunteers as well as working with the Growth & Communities Teams (employed staff) to provide enough places to meet the demand for Scouting, and by ensuring that every youth member has access to a high-quality balanced programme that is challenging, relevant and rewarding.

Key tasks

• Ensure that every Squirrel Drey, Beaver Scout Colony, Cub Scout Pack, Scout Troop, Explorer Scout Unit and Scout Network within the Island is able to deliver a high-quality programme which is challenging, relevant and rewarding for every young person.
• Provide proactive line management, including coaching, mentoring and guidance to Group Lead Volunteers as well as other adult volunteers on the Island who directly report to you including setting objectives for their work, holding regular one-to-one meetings and reviews.
• Build and maintain a sense of Island team by holding regular team meetings with the Group Lead Volunteers, Island Chair, Island team Members and other appropriate volunteers within
  your Island team to collaborate and provide peer support.
• Lead a safe, open and transparent culture around keeping young people and adults safe through our Yellow Card and key policies.
  Ensure the timely recruitment and appointment of new Group Lead Volunteers where required and ensuring that interim arrangements are put in place for any vacant posts.
• Together with the Group Lead Volunteers, agree the priorities for the Island and produce a plan to deliver these to meet The Scout Association’s vision and strategic objectives.
• Ensure that problems within the Island are resolved so that an effective volunteering culture is encouraged and Group Lead Volunteers feel supported to deal with challenging issues, including complaints in a timely manner.
• Ensure that the Island has an adequate team of supported and appropriate adults working effectively together and with others to meet the Scouting needs of the area.
• Ensure that problems within the Island are resolved so that excellent Scouting is provided to young people on the Island.
• Act as an ex-officio trustee as a member of the Island Trustee Board, and an ex-officio member of the Council of The Scout Association.
• Play an active part within the Regional Team by joining short MS Teams calls and in person meetings led by the Regional Lead Volunteer and twice yearly by Team England for all County Lead Volunteers to contribute to the development of Scouting within England as part of the Headquarters team.

PUBLICITY & MARKETING VOLUNTEER

Across the UK, our 65 local branches work with disabled people to help them live the lives they choose. Our network of skilled volunteers respond to thousands of requests each year to design and make customised equipment free of charge.

Our Publicity & Marketing volunteers play an essential role in publicising and raising awareness of their local branch’s activities.

What the role involves

This is a varied role that each branch tends to do a bit differently, but it will involve:

• Collecting case studies from the clients we help

• Writing stories for the local press

• Distributing literature

• Arranging talks

• Working with the Central Team to promote panel activities

We can support you to develop the skills you need for this role, and there’s an induction that covers all the areas above. You’ll also have chance to discuss your role and any additional needs with us.

MS Walk Belfast is back again this year and we are looking for an incredible team of volunteers who will be helping to make MS Walk 2025 bigger and better than ever.

The 2025 event will have around 200 participants who will be walking through Belfast on either the 1km, 5km or 10km route.

Together these walkers will be hoping to raise over £20,000 for the MS Society to help support the MS Community.

There are various roles available on the day from making some noise and encouraging our walkers, looking after the course and handing out water, snacks and medals.

Join our team of MS Walk volunteers and support everyone who is walking, rolling and strolling to stop MS.

This role is only required on Saturday 7th June 2025 for one day and there are various times throughout the day. Shifts will be from 2-6 hours depending on role and location.

There are no specific skills required just enthusiasm and a can-do attitude.

Join our fundraising team at Pershore Open Garden Event, Pershore on Saturday 7th June and Sunday 8th June. We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help us run a stand with information about Acorns and collect donations. The stand will be within one of the open gardens, within one of the open gardens. 

Bonus: - We will provide you with water and snacks.

Parking will be available.

Richmond Arts Service offers a range of events and festivals throughout the year as part of its diverse programme, including the Richmond Arts and Ideas Festival and the Christmas Shopping Weekend at Orleans House Gallery. Volunteers help support these events through a variety of responsibilities, ensuring their success.

SUMMARY

Prison volunteers are the backbone of Fine Cell Work. Supported by the Fine Cell Work programmes team and by other staff at the FCW office, they teach and administer FCW stitching groups in prisons.

Our prison volunteers work in teams to organise classes and teach our stitchers, as well as to provide information to the prison and to the FCW office. The precise mix of skills and tasks will vary slightly from prison to prison.

Volunteering in prison for Fine Cell Work ideally requires not only a good level of needlework skill but also some teaching experience and/or experience of working with socially-excluded groups. Volunteers must be patient and non-judgemental in order to work effectively.

This document describes the role of prison volunteering teams as a whole. Individuals who do not have all the skills described below may find a role alongside other volunteers who do.

PURPOSE

• Developing stitchers’ skills and confidence
• Acting as FCW ambassadors in the prison
• Building effective working relationships with prison staff, stitchers, and other volunteers
• Providing information to the FCW office for administrative and evaluative purposes

ACTIVITIES

Teaching and support

• Teaching prisoners to stitch FCW products using our premade kits
• Encouraging and supporting stitchers to take on responsibility as class coordinators and peer mentors
• Encouraging and helping prisoners who wish to undertake our accredited training courses with the Open College Network

Admin and liaison

• Ensuring a supply of kits and training materials appropriate to stitchers’ individual skill levels and learning needs
• Returning completed kits to the FCW office with invoices
• Regularly communicating with the Fine Cell Work programmes team

Monitoring and information-gathering

• Ensuring accurate record keeping of stitchers' pay, productivity and progress 
• Occasionally gathering other information requested by the office

Meetings/training

• Participating in occasional volunteer meetings
• Participating in training and workshops as requested by FCW or the prison

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED

Essential

• Support for FCW’s ethos

You must be over 18 to carry out this role.

COMMITMENT REQUIRED

Prison volunteers generally run classes for two hours every 2 weeks.

With travel time and some admin work after groups we ask prison volunteers to set 
 aside a morning or afternoon every 2 weeks.

We hope that most prison-based volunteers will be able to commit themselves to working with us for at least a year or two as this allows time for group participants to complete qualifications and develop their skills to a high standard.

LOCATION

Volunteers work in prisons around the UK dependant on where groups are based.

SUPERVISION AND COMMUNICATION

Each group has a lead volunteer who reports to the Volunteer & Programmes Manager at the Fine Cell Work office however we do encourage regular communication between the programmes team and all volunteers.

We also have regular reflective practice sessions for prison volunteers which take place on Zoom every other month.

BENEFITS

Fine Cell Work will cover your travel costs and out-of-pocket expenses related to posting kits to the office. We can also pay out-of-pocket expenses for purchasing materials and other items, but you must agree this in advance with the Production team at Head Office.

We provide induction training before you start volunteering in prison, and training thereafter at intervals throughout the year.

Role Purpose:

You will be working in the garden at our hospice, ensuring the garden looks it best all year round.

Tasks & activities

You will be based in the garden area of the hospice, where you will be expected to:

• Plant a variety of shrubs and remove weeds

• Tidying up and sweeping paths

• Water plants as required

• Clear and renovate overgrown areas

Personal qualities & experience

You should interested in gardening and enjoy working outdoors. Previous experience of working in this area is not essential but would be useful.

For this role you will need to be:

About Us

The International Humanity Foundation (IHF) is a 501(c)(3) international non-profit

organization founded in 2001. We provide education and safe Children's Homes to

impoverished children in Indonesia, Kenya, and Thailand through our five IHF Centers.

Our Mission

1. Educate Marginalized Children: Activate their highest potential and nurture

loving communities. The happiness of our world's children rises above all political

and religious differences and equates to the quality of our world's happiness

tomorrow.

2. Educate Global Citizens: Through communication and real-life experiences,

both online and in person, we teach about the realities of marginalized

communities and impart practical skills for aiding needed efforts, thus giving a

voice to the voiceless.

Volunteer Role

We are looking for dedicated volunteers to join our team at the IHF Indonesia Center in

Bali. Volunteers will gain invaluable experience in international team leadership,

coordination of center activities, and engagement with the local community.

Responsibilities

● Participate in rotational assignments in the core components of the International

○ Center operations

○ Legalities

○ Community development

○ Finance

○ Fundraising

○ Media and communications

○ And more

● Assist in coordinating center activities

● Report to the CEO and Center Directors

What We Offer

● Accommodation: Room with bed and mattress provided.

● Electricity and Wi-Fi: Stable network to carry on online tasks.

● Global Leadership Development (GLD): A one-year training program equipping

you with skills to run an international organization as a director.

● Stipend:

○ $35/month for the first 3 months

○ $65/month for months 4-6

○ $85/month for months 7-9

○ $100/month for months 10-12

● Potential Employment: After one year of successfully completing the GLD

training, volunteers may be considered for employment positions within the

organization, if available.

Requirements

● Minimum of a high school diploma

● Basic computer knowledge

● Smartphone for communication

● Valid police clearance/good conduct certificate issued by the government

● Fluent in English

● Able to use Zoom

● Honest, well-behaved individual with no criminal record

● Ability to work with children and adhere to both national and international laws

governing our operations
