We are currently looking for a Policy Adviser to help drive forward our strategic policy advocacy at a critical time for the climate movement in the UK and globally. Uplift is an impact-oriented research and campaigning organisation that supports a rapid and fair transition away from oil and gas in the UK, with a goal of making the UK a global first-mover on phasing out oil and gas production in line with climate limits and a just settlement for the workforce.
The role
As Policy Adviser, you will collaborate with Uplift’s team and key partners to ensure that our collective work is underpinned by robust and forward-thinking policy analysis. From responding to policy announcements, to proactively setting the agenda, to ensuring our team has a sound understanding of the future of the North Sea, this is a diverse role at the heart of our work pushing a just transition away from oil and gas extraction.
The successful candidate will have exceptional policy research skills, an ability to think politically, and a keen interest in climate and energy-related policy and campaigns. A strong commitment to Uplift's mission and core values is also required.
Core responsibilities include:
- Support the delivery of Uplift’s policy analysis, research and advocacy, contributing to our organisational strategy and campaigns.
- Monitor and track ongoing UK climate and energy policy developments to identify key opportunities and risks.
- Produce clear, concise and compelling analysis, briefings, and consultation responses to support Uplift’s advocacy and communications.
- Provide fact-checking and ad-hoc policy analysis for the Uplift team to ensure accuracy in Uplift’s public communications.
- Contribute to Uplift’s “policy unit” by coordinating with colleagues and supporting policy priority-setting.
- Support the teams in developing policy asks, ensuring they are evidence-based, accurate and impactful advocacy.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with partners, allies and stakeholders engaged in UK climate and just transition policy.
- Contribute to the wider work of the Research, Policy and Legal team, including supporting knowledge management and maintaining high-quality standards in outputs.
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in a similar or related role (policy, research, advocacy or campaigns). Strong knowledge of UK climate, energy or environmental policy (direct expertise in just transition, fossil fuels or renewables would be an advantage, but is not essential).
- Excellent research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesise complex information quickly and accurately.
- Exceptional writing and communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Motivation, initiative, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-moving environment.
- A strong commitment to Uplift’s mission and core values of equity and climate justice.

Policy Officer-Wales
Based at home, situated across Wales including regular travel around the country and to the Senedd, Cardiff.

We’re looking for a Policy Officer – Wales to help shape policy, build relationships, and advocate for better support and care for kidney patients. In this brand-new role, you’ll work for Kidney Care UK and Kidney Wales, engaging with policymakers, healthcare professionals, and those affected by kidney disease.
You’ll spend time at the Senedd, building connections with local politicians and councillors, and ensuring the voices of kidney patients are heard loud and clear. With your knowledge of Welsh Government structures (or similar UK experience), you’ll help drive our campaigns and influence change.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop or participate in work programs and undertake projects to explore policy issues under the guidance of the Policy Director of Kidney Care UK and the Managing Director of Kidney Wales.

- Work with other team members to deliver events/reports or campaigns as needed
- Keep up to date with the policy department and charity work to avoid duplication and ensure good communications with our colleagues.
- Contribute to the newly created All Wales Cross Party Group.
- Undertake desk-based research involving data collection and the synthesis of information from relevant sources.
- Seek out opportunities for communications and influencing in the Welsh parliament, including the need for a kidney group.
About you
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience working with elected members
- Experience in conducting analysis and writing and editing reports for publication
- Can travel regularly to the Senedd Cymru Welsh Parliament in Cardiff and other parts of Wales, plus Alton Hampshire

Around 200,000 Ukrainians have arrived in the UK since Ukraine was invaded in early 2022. Settled's Ukraine Advice Service is at the forefront of providing expert immigration advice on Ukraine visa schemes and related matters. This post will bring much needed additional capacity to a small, very busy team. In this post you will use your expertise to respond promptly and compassionately to Ukrainian citizens pre- and post-arrival in the UK and their family members; providing free, high-quality, responsive information, advice and support services in relevant languages to secure their right to remain in the UK. You will also work effectively with volunteers, referral partners and Ukrainian communities throughout the UK.

Finance and Operations Manager
RESPONSIBLE FOR
Overseeing Operations at every level of the organisation, with line management responsibility for some of the team, Project and Workstream Coordinators (approximately 5 direct reports) plus some external consultants and contractors.

LOCATION OF THE POST HOLDER
The post holder will be predominantly remote working but will be required to attend the head office and drop-in in Manchester, drop-in spaces in Glasgow and London, and support staff members nationally. The post involves some travel throughout the UK and some work outside of office hours. All equipment required for remote working will be provided and costs for travel will be covered.
ROLE SUMMARY
We are looking for a Finance and Operations Manager to support the CEO in the day-to-day running of our charity. The NUM CEO develops the overall vision of the organisation, while the Operations Manager is responsible to carry out the vision.
To be successful in this role, you should have experience as a manager in a position of public trust, have excellent financial, organisational, and communications skills, as well as being a problem-solver with work experience in high-pressure work environments. The Finance and Operations Manager must be versatile in their understanding of the larger vision and as well as the fine details and tactics needed to achieve NUM's goals.
The successful candidate will work in an agile manner to ensure the charity continues to be proactive and innovative, while also being responsive to the changing landscape within the sector and the international sex worker rights and safety movement. As part of supporting the operations of NUM, the successful candidate will provide resources, information and support to NUM Managers and Coordinators across diverse projects, workstreams and teams, to achieve aspects of the organisation’s mandate of 'ending all forms of violence against sex workers' and eliminating the conditions that lead to poverty and survival sex work.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- 
	At least 3 years' work experience as a Manager, Project or Programme Manager or similar role that requires oversight of a whole system, business, operation or organisation Experience leading remote or hybrid teams is desired. This includes time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, lead team meetings and support members to manage resources, timelines and project budgets, etc. 
- 
	At least two years’ experience in grant writing and fund development, as well as in financial management, with a demonstrated ability to co-develop budgets, cashflow forecasts and financial reporting as well as oversee banking activities and work with accountants and Trustees to ensure NUM’s financial health. 
- 
	Knowledge of the charity sector, the day-to-day running of a charity, business or similar organisation, and familiarity with the work of National Ugly Mugs and other sex worker-serving and sex worker-led organisations. 
- 
	Excellent leadership and delegation skills and experience. 
- 
	Ability to support and execute on elements of NUM's policies and strategic plan. 
- 
	Experience and training in Safeguarding and the ability to integrate appropriate safeguarding into all aspects of NUM services. 
- 
	Exemplary critical thinking and problem-solving skills and experience. 
- 
	Excellent IT skills and familiarity with CRM systems, applications and digital platforms and services, particularly Google Workplace, QuickBooks, the Microsoft Office Suite, as well as Slack, Trello, and other project management programs and tools. 
- 
	Experience in Human Resource Management and monitoring performance across diverse teams. 
- 
	Exceptional verbal and written communications skills, with the ability to engage in knowledge translation within NUM and with external partners, funders and other stakeholders.

	A demonstrated ability to be discrete and confidential as part of working on sensitive issues within a diverse staff team, and to be tactful and strategic in challenging social and political climates.
