What we need from you

You’ll be:

• Supporting your team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure volunteers are happy and confident
• Making sure the team observes charity best practice and compliance
• Collaborating with your Branch Development Manager (BDM) to plan volunteer activity
• Leading the team to follow Cats Protection policies, procedures and guidelines
• Monitoring expenditure and helping ensure long term financial stability of the volunteer group
• Organising and chairing team meetings
• Acting as an ambassador for Cats Protection

Time expectation

Our branch team leader volunteers usually spend 10 to 15 hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed. There will be times of year when more hours are required, such as towards the end of the financial year, but support and guidance are available.

Become a Visitor Engagement Volunteer at RSPB Middleton Lakes and help connect people with the natural world!
If you have a passion for wildlife, enjoy engaging with people, and love spending time outdoors, this role offers a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference. As a Visitor Engagement Volunteer, you will be at the heart of our nature reserve experience, welcoming visitors, sharing your enthusiasm for the environment, and helping ensure everyone enjoys their time with us.

Your role will involve greeting visitors as they arrive, providing information about parking and entry, and chatting with them about the important conservation work carried out by the RSPB. You’ll assist with keeping the Welcome Hub tidy and well-organized, updating information boards, and helping run events and activities. You’ll also be responsible for handling card payments for merchandise, refreshments, and activities. Full training and support will be provided, including how to open and close the visitor hub safely.

Shifts are flexible and available on weekends, with morning sessions from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM and afternoon sessions from 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM, allowing you to fit volunteering around your lifestyle. This role is perfect for anyone who is friendly, approachable, and enjoys chatting with others. You will gain valuable skills, meet new people, and spend quality time in a beautiful outdoor setting, all while supporting vital wildlife conservation.

WWF-UK’s Great Wild Walks are inspiring fundraising events set in some of the UK’s most beautiful landscapes. As a volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in making these events a success—supporting walkers, cheering them on, and helping raise crucial funds for WWF’s global conservation work.

Volunteer Roles

Roles are assigned on the day, but here’s what you might be doing:

• Event Village Volunteer: Greet participants, hand out t-shirts and medals, support recycling stations, and help create a welcoming atmosphere.
• Route Marshal: Guide and cheer on walkers along the route, ensuring they stay on track and feel encouraged.
• Back Marker: Walk the full 10-mile route behind the last participants, offering support and removing signage as you go.

MY NAME IS CLIMATE FILM FESTIVAL 2025

BIRMINGHAM JULY 11-12

Volunteer Photographer and Videographer wanted!

‪We are seeking photographers and videographers to help us document the "My Name is Climate" Film Festival 2025. The event will take place over two days on July 11 and 12 at The Best Western Plough and Harrow Hotel on Hagley Road, Birmingham. We will feature films addressing climate change, social issues, and animal and human rights, with Q&A sessions with filmmakers between screenings.

On Saturday, we will hold award ceremonies and networking opportunities following the screenings, along with photo sessions.

Volunteers are essential to our festival, which has been running since 2015, and we need your help to capture these moments. Please apply as soon as possible, and let us know what gear you have and your flexibility, as our schedule runs from 12:30 PM to 8 PM on both days. 

As a charity foundation focused on community awareness, your support will be greatly appreciated. You will be part of a collaborative team alongside other members.

We are looking for volunteers to help support our Pet Food Bank activity. You'll use your attention to detail, organisational and communication skills to help our food banks provide support to the pets that need it most.

Why we want you

Sick, injured and homeless pets have relied on Blue Cross for help since 1897. Each year, thousands of dogs, cats, small pets and horses turn to the charity’s animal hospitals, clinics and rehoming services for treatment and support.

Our Pet Food Banks provide practical support to pet owners during financial crises, by distributing donated pet food via food banks in the local community. Our food banks can be the key to helping owners to keep their much-loved pets. Our Donations Assistants help manage the incoming donations and preparation of food for distribution. All this adds up to keeping more pets with their families. We would love you to join us and help us help more pets and people in need.

What you will be doing

• Organising donations as they come in and regular stock taking to keep track of the food we have available
• Checking use by dates on donated pet food
• Preparing packages of pet food and pet items to be given out to our pet food bank clients or to send to other local food banks for distribution
• Liaising with external food banks and organising deliveries of pet food to meet demand
• Using excel and our database to record the activity of the food bank
• Ensuring any stock overflow is collected for distribution to other Blue Cross coordinated food banks
• You can choose to combine this role with any of our other pet food bank roles if they are also available at your chosen location

Position Overview
This is a superb opportunity for a development professional to be part of a team of national and international staff supporting the development, reporting and evaluation of SEED’s rural livelihoods programmes. 

Our Rural Livelihoods programme concentrates on livelihood development and support in local, national, and international markets, including fishery management, beekeeping, traditional reed weaving and embroidery. We use community-led, participatory approaches, working with local communities to identify and implement projects that meet their needs and priorities. 

This is an exciting position for someone who has two to four years’ experience working alongside national and international staff, supporting the development, funding, management, reporting and evaluation of our programmes.  You will be responsible for generating funds across the programmes to maximise impact. This post will partner our national implementation teams, managing donor compliance, ensuring proposals and reports are to a high standard and budgets are appropriately managed.

It is essential that the post holder has grant writing experience and is able to work in English to a high standard. Candidates who do not meet these criteria will not be considered.

Title: Programme Officer
Location: Fort Dauphin, Anosy Region, Madagascar
Timeframe: 2 years, extendable
Contract Type: Local salary, £1,200 contribution to flights and £650 towards insurance 

Duties and responsibilities:
Provision of advice and support in the development and management of projects including: preparation and editing of funding proposals; preparation and editing of reports for external stakeholders; monitoring and evaluation of current projects; developing and updating guidelines and templates for external-facing materials; liaison with the London project development team and local staff; and support and mentoring of interns and Junior Officers.

Core Duties

• Support Junior Programme Officers and interns in compiling funding proposals based on past evaluation, team discussion and international best practice in an engaging and professional manner

• Support Junior Programme Officers and interns in writing project reports that clearly demonstrate the successes and challenges of the projects, learning from the project and providing clear budgetary information

• Provide first-stage editing of all proposals and reports across the department to a high standard and providing detailed, constructive feedback to interns and Junior Officers

• Support in the management of donor compliance across several projects, working with the Head of Programmes and the implementation team to ensure that project milestones are being met 

• Work alongside the Head of Programmes and Head of Department in problem-solving and providing additional support in line with emerging issues from project implementation

• Manage pieces of long-term project work that require a higher level of expertise and experience across the department

• Support in the recruitment of new staff and provide support, management, review and professional development to your team of Project Development Interns, Officers and specialists

• Foster essential cross-cultural collaboration, providing support to both the national and international teams to bridge gaps in understanding and priorities for project development and implementation

• Provide pastoral care, guidance and act as a role model, both professionally and personally, for a team of early career professionals living in country

• Work alongside the Head of Department, Head of Programmes and Head of Finance in developing and managing the budgets relating to projects

• Develop and update resources to support project development processes, including proposal and budget templates and style guidelines

• Assist departmental MEL specialists in developing MEL tools and analysing data, including the writing of MEL reports when needed 

• Support the development of project development procedures, guidelines, and trainings and provide project-specific information to inform policy development across the organisation 

• Work with the Programme Officers and interns to ensure that statistics, research, funding trackers, photo database and handovers relating to the projects are accurate

• Oversee the project-specific website and social media content 

• Work with the national team and external partners in increasing their skills and capacity, providing mentoring or training where appropriate

• Take an active role in project management meetings, leading discussions and standing in for the Head of Programmes where appropriate

• Ensure all of SEED’s policies and procedures are evident throughout the work of the department, including those for safeguarding, whistleblowing and anti corruption, and undertake continual training to ensure these are promoted at all times

• Form part of the team representing projects or SEED when required

• Liaise closely with the UK team in London always ensuring clear communication

• Complete any other tasks required by the Head of Programmes or Director of Operations and Heads of Departments commensurate with this role.

Person specification

• Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience in conservation or rural livelihoods 

• At least two years’ experience with market-based programming, rural livelihoods, or similar programmes

• Minimum of 2 years’ professional experience of securing funding, project management, donor compliance and donor reporting

• Familiarity with the use of project management tools including Logical Frameworks, Theory of Change models, Budgets, Activity Plans and Monitoring & Evaluation frameworks

• Fluency in written and spoken English with excellent written communication skills, to the level of editing English documents for publication to a very high standard

• Excellent proposal and report writing and editing skills, with previous experience compiling project proposals and reports and the ability to tailor written information to various audiences

• Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to SEED’s ethos and approach, and be a good ambassador for the organisation at all times

• Have passion, curiosity and motivation for the job and the ability to enthuse others

• Experience of living and working in a developing country with the ability and desire to work with teams from different economic and cultural backgrounds and across multiple language barriers

• Demonstrate proven ability to recognise and appropriately deal with challenging situations and problem solve

• Demonstrate an awareness of and comfort with increased social and professional responsibility, working at all times with cultural sensitivity and respect

About the Organisation

SEED Madagascar is a British Charity working in partnership with communities in the southeast of Madagascar. We integrate high quality community health, rural livelihoods; education infrastructure and conservation programmes to support long term, sustainable change and add to international best practice through research and publication across all our programmatic areas. We are now looking for entry level interns and officers to work alongside national staff and expand our team. 

Volunteer Assistant Warden (RSPB Gloucestershire Reserves)
The RSPB is seeking two Volunteer Assistant Wardens for a 6–12 month placement (2 days/week) at two unique woodland reserves: Nagshead in the Forest of Dean and Highnam Woods near Gloucester. This is an excellent opportunity for those looking to start a career in conservation. Volunteers will gain hands-on experience in woodland management, species monitoring, infrastructure maintenance, and visitor engagement. Tasks include habitat management (e.g., coppicing, glade creation), biological surveys (birds, butterflies, reptiles, flora), and supporting events and guided walks.

Volunteers will work alongside a small, experienced team and receive training tailored to their development, including species ID, leadership, and practical conservation skills. A mentor will support personal growth, and further training opportunities are available for those committing to the full 12 months.

Applicants must be 18+, hold a full UK driving licence, and be able to travel to the Gloucestershire reserves office in Parkend. One of the working days must be Wednesday; the second is flexible (Mon–Thu, excluding Friday). Previous volunteering is not essential, but flexibility, resilience, and enthusiasm for outdoor work in all weathers are key.

This role is ideal for those passionate about nature and conservation, ready to work both independently and within a team. Travel expenses are reimbursed (26p/mile, up to 25 miles).

While the placement doesn’t guarantee employment, it provides invaluable experience and networking opportunities within the RSPB.

Volunteer at WWF-UK’s Great Wild Walk

Join us for a day of nature, community, and conservation!

WWF-UK’s Great Wild Walks are inspiring fundraising events set in some of the UK’s most beautiful landscapes. As a volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in making these events a success—supporting walkers, cheering them on, and helping raise crucial funds for WWF’s global conservation work.

Volunteer Roles

Roles are assigned on the day, but here’s what you might be doing:

• Event Village Volunteer: Greet participants, hand out t-shirts and medals, support recycling stations, and help create a welcoming atmosphere.
• Route Marshal: Guide and cheer on walkers along the route, ensuring they stay on track and feel encouraged.
• Back Marker: Walk the full 10-mile route behind the last participants, offering support and removing signage as you go.

What You’ll Receive
