About School of Hard Knocks

School of Hard Knocks (SOHK) is one of the UK’s leading education charities, working in 29 secondary schools across England, Scotland, and Wales. Using rugby as a key delivery tool, we support young people who are struggling to engage in early secondary education - often because of anxiety, low confidence, disrupted home lives, or behavioural challenges rooted in trauma. For many of the children we support, life has already brought more hardship than most adults experience in a lifetime. Our purpose is clear: to help young people facing complex challenges break the cycle and move towards a safer, stronger, more hopeful future.

The SOHK Schools Programme is a two-year intervention working with cohorts of around 20 pupils from Year 7 through to Year 9. Pupils are selected by the school and are typically among the hardest to reach young people. Each week, we deliver half a day of rugby training and classroom sessions built around our 3Cs framework, covering topics such as growth mindset, goal setting, and decision-making, alongside monthly one-to-one sessions with every pupil. The programme’s impact is evaluated by SOHK staff, teachers, parents, and the pupils themselves.

The Role

The CEO is the public face and leader of SOHK, responsible for the overall strategic direction, vision, and management of the charity - ensuring SOHK meets its mission and strategic objectives while maintaining strong relationships with Trustees, staff, supporters, and the wider SOHK community. We’re looking for a mission-driven charity leader and effective fundraiser, capable of building a sustainable growth model.

● Be the face and voice of the charity - its principal ambassador

About You

Essential

● Proven senior leadership experience in the charity, education, youth, or social impact sector - whether as CEO or as part of an executive team - including working directly with a Board of Trustees

● Demonstrated success in building or significantly growing an organisation, programme, or initiative

● A collaborative and values-led leadership style, with the ability to inspire trust, hold people to account, and build high-performing teams

● Strong track record of income generation, including securing significant funding from trusts, foundations, corporates, or major donors

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and relationship-focused Researcher Engagement Officer to join our Research team and strengthen relationships with the researchers and Fellows we fund.

You’ll develop and deliver a programme of researcher engagement and stewardship, creating opportunities for collaboration, learning and long-term partnership. From webinars and conferences to researcher visits and events, you’ll help ensure our research community feels supported and connected throughout their journey with Blood Cancer UK.

You’ll build strong relationships with grant holders, Fellows and key research stakeholders, plan and deliver engagement activities, develop insight into the blood cancer research community and represent Blood Cancer UK at conferences and research events. You’ll also support research impact activity, contribute to funding rounds and partnerships, and work collaboratively across Research, Engagement and Fundraising.

We’re looking for someone with experience in the charity or research sector, an understanding of how research funding translates into impact, and excellent relationship-building and communication skills. You’ll be organised, proactive and comfortable managing multiple projects, analysing research information and using technology, data and insight to deliver results.

The role involves 1–2 days of travel per week, including meetings with researchers, conferences, team workshops and away days, as well as two all-staff away days each year. There will also be occasional evening and weekend work.

In this role you are responsible for day-to-day operational activity across both finance and 
HR functions, working closely with the Finance Officer and reporting to the Head of Finance 
(with ‘dotted line’ reporting to Director of Finance and Operations in respect of HR activity). 
The role requires effective use of systems to enable efficient processes, with responsibility 
for data held on the HR system and management of routine employee related processes 
including recruitment and onboarding. The role also shares responsibility for processing 
invoices and payments on the finance system, responding to queries from colleagues and 
3rd party partners. You will provide support for Head of Finance and Director Finance and 
Operations where required, including data analysis, reporting and preparation of returns 
across both finance and HR remits.

HR and Recruitment
• Maintain accurate data on our HR system including starters, 
leavers, holiday and other absences
• Report on key employee metrics including sickness absence,

• Support line managers with recruitment activity including 
making effective use of the Applicant Tracking System to 
ensure a good candidate experience and to report recruitment 
metrics to enable continuous improvement
• Manage onboarding for new starters including reference 
requests, pre-employment checks, induction processes
• Coordinate arrangements for training sessions for staff
• Support Head of Finance with monthly payroll processes
• Support Director of Finance and Operations in maintaining and 
publicising HR policies, keeping the Employee Handbook

Finance Administration
• Maintain appropriate employee access to Finance Systems, 
including being able to claim staff expenses and raise sales 
invoice requests, and support employees in using these 
systems. 
• Respond to queries in the central accounts mailbox, liaising 
with internal and external stakeholders.
• Support Head of Finance and Finance Officer with Purchase 
Ledger, including posting and payment of supplier invoices in a 
timely manner, ensuring accurate coding and authorisation in 
line with limits, maintenance of supplier accounts, 
reconciliations and remittances.
• Support Head of Finance and Finance Officer with management 
of company credit cards and virtual cards, including reconciling 
statements and accurate posting to the ledger. 
• Assist in raising sales invoices and accurately recording income. 
• Assist with Credit Control, chasing overdue debts and reporting 
to the Head of Finance.
• Support Head of Finance with analysis of financial data from 
the finance system (Xero) for reporting and other ad-hoc 
purposes
• Assist in maintaining up to date procedures.

Summary of the role:

The Executive Officer to the CEO plays a central role within the CEO Office, supporting the Chief Executive Officer in delivering effective leadership and ensuring alignment across the organisation.

The postholder is responsible for providing high-level executive support to the CEO while acting as a key coordination point across the organisation. The role ensures the effective management of priorities, information flow, and follow-up on leadership actions, enabling the CEO and Executive Leadership Team to operate efficiently and effectively.

In addition, the role leads internal communications and staff engagement, ensuring that organisational priorities, decisions, and key messages are clearly communicated and understood across teams.

About the Role:

1. Provide comprehensive executive support to the CEO, ensuring effective management of time, priorities, and workload.
2. Manage the CEO’s diary, meetings, travel arrangements, and logistics.

4. Act as a central coordination point for information flowing to and from the CEO, as requested.

About You:

This role operates on a hybrid working basis, with a requirement to work from the office for two/three days per week, and additional days where required to meet organisational needs.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

1. Bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in an Executive Officer or similar role supporting senior leadership.
3. Proven track record of developing and implementing successful internal communications and staff engagement strategies.
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders and create compelling communications materials tailored to specific audiences and channels.
5. Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, tasks and projects simultaneously and work under pressure.

The Role

As the Monitoring & Data Officer, you’ll support the Monitoring & Data Manager and Coordinator to validate, clean, and manage programme data. You’ll review submissions for accuracy and completeness, resolve discrepancies, and help ensure the integrity of the data that underpins our impact. Your work will support evidence-based decision-making. Collaboration and attention to detail are key, as is a passion for improving lives in rural Zambia and Mozambique.

Your Responsibilities:

• Validate and clean incoming data from local partners, identifying and flagging any errors or inconsistencies using tools such as Excel and Salesforce. 
• Conduct regular (weekly and monthly) checks on submitted data to ensure accuracy and assess progress against set targets. 
• Maintain and update all impact data, ensuring all records are accurate and complete. 
• Assist in testing and reviewing both new and existing data systems to ensure proper functionality, support the addition of new fields and adjustments as needed. 
• Support data validation during data collection rounds by reviewing data collection tools.

Universify Education is looking for a passionate and motivated Fundraising Officer to deliver the charity's fundraising activities and engage Universify’s community to enable the ongoing running of our transformative programmes. This is a great opportunity for someone experienced in fundraising to gain a deeper understanding of charity fundraising, finance, impact reporting and governance.

THE ROLE

As the Fundraising Officer, you will plan and deliver the charity’s income generation strategy, covering Trusts and Foundations, Individual Giving and Public Fundraising. You will work with the programme team to create integrated charity communications to increase awareness of the charity’s impact. You will also work in collaboration with the CEO on the charity’s financial management and governance.

THE CHARITY

Universify exists to create a fairer, more equal society where every young person can fulfil their potential regardless of their background. We work primarily with Year 10-11 students (aged 14-16) to increase their aspirations, improve GCSE attainment and to gain a greater understanding of post-18 pathways, particularly university, to make a more informed decision about their future. Our main Oxford programme includes a week-long residential in summer of Year 10, a 3-day GCSE-focused revision residential in the spring of Year 11, and regular online coaching. 

Main Duties

• Plan and deliver the charity’s income generation strategy, including Trusts and Foundations, Individual Giving, and Public Fundraising campaigns
  • Identify new opportunities and maintain a database of fundraising prospects
  • Create funding bids, project budgets and grant reports
  • Track and report on fundraising progress to the CEO and wider staff team, with development opportunities to report to the board of trustees
• Deepen engagement with existing stakeholders through stewardship
• Collaborate with the programme team to create and manage integrated charity communications to increase awareness of the charity’s impact
• Alongside the CEO, contribute to the charity's financial management including payments and payroll
• Support the team in one ad hoc function (based on candidate’s preferences and skills)

Desirable experience and skills

Ideally, candidates would have experience in some of the following areas:

• Track record of fundraising success across multiple income streams and identifying new opportunities to raise funds
• Experience preparing fundraising budgets
• Experience in using Canva or other design tools
• Experience of using the basic functions of a CRM and a willingness to build this knowledge
• Previous experience working within the UK secondary education sector and knowledge of the UK university access and outreach sector
• Some data analysis skills

We are looking to recruit an Administration and Grants Officer to support the output of our HQ, including benevolent fund caseload management, member support, and general Association output. Some travel is expected to support membership events inc. evenings & weekends, with occasional overnight stays. We are the UK’s largest membership organisation of female veterans and serving women - a financially sustainable £8m charity which aims to provide camaraderie, benevolence and support to women who have served in the Army. Additionally, we aim to exert influence within the military charity sector to broaden support for all female veterans of the UK Armed Forces. 

Our benevolent fund awards over £200k in grants per year to an average of 120 applicants, from minor requests to major grants, and annual maintenance. We organise both national and local events for our members to attend where they meet up with old friends, remember those we have lost, support each other, have fun and make new and lasting memories. We have approaching 5000 active members which we hope to grow as we reach out to many more female veterans eligible to join our Association. 

You will:

• have experience of working in a member or public-facing organisation, supporting and liaising with a diverse cohort of individuals in a wide variety of interests and needs

• have experience of managing caseloads and carrying out detailed casework

• have a sound knowledge of how individual grants are awarded

• have a strong understanding of the work of SSAFA, TRBL & other caseworking and almonising agencies

• understand the value of strong communication and be experienced in engaging people from many walks of life, tailoring your communication style to a variety of audiences

• be skilled at building positive working relationships, with a friendly and engaging manner

• be highly organised with great attention to detail, and work well within a small staff team where each team member is expected to pitch in and work collaboratively

The charity is governed by a Board of Trustees with a number of sub-committees, all volunteers. We are a small staff team of 5, led by a CEO, who are motivated by the good work we do to support some amazing, brave and pioneering women. We are proud of the work we do to support female veterans, many of whom are now well into retirement. Some have fallen on hard times and need our financial support, whilst others may be lonely or have reduced mobility, and rely on our association to keep them in touch with like-minded comrades.

Role Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to play a meaningful role in helping Embrace the Middle East bring hope, dignity and lasting change to some of the region's most vulnerable communities. Working alongside local Christian partners and churches in the Middle East, you will help to ensure that life-changing programmes are delivered effectively, relationships are nurtured and vital support reaches those who need it most.

As a key member of the Programmes, Partnerships and Advocacy team, you will coordinate programme activities, support grant and partnership management processes, maintain high-quality information and contribute to projects that strengthen our impact across the Middle East. You will work closely with colleagues across the organisation, helping to translate programme insight into compelling stories, fundraising initiatives, advocacy work and supporter engagement. This is a varied and rewarding role that offers the opportunity to make a tangible contribution to Embrace's mission while developing your experience within international development and partnership management.

We are looking for a senior partnerships officer who will ensure our vital work to address the
environmental crisis is well funded, working to secure new partnerships and stewarding existing
funder relationships.

This multifaceted role works across teams to coordinate and deliver Green Alliance’s fundraising
activities and grant management. Collaborating with the organisation’s policy and political
experts, you support the creation of creative and impactful new project proposals that address
environmental problems and support the organisation’s strategy. You will identify funders for this
through prospecting and relationship building and will guide proposals through processes to
secure funds. You will monitor the organisation’s progress against fundraising targets and lead on
management of our funding pipeline.

Stewardship of existing funding relationships is a significant part of this role which means
ensuring we have excellent communication with our funders, making sure they receive high
quality reports on Green Alliance’s impact and supporting the team to see our funders as partners.
You will manage our Business Circle and maintain relationships with its members and support
efforts to recruit new business members into Green Alliance Task Forces.

Excellent communication skills are at the heart of this role, both written and verbal. You will be
confident, efficient, and resourceful; calm under pressure and enjoy building strong relationships
with a variety of senior stakeholders, as well as working independently. Strong skills in relation to
organisation, administration and prioritisation are essential.

Creative Support is looking for an experienced Payroll Officer to join our Stockport based payroll team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an agile payroll team in a national social care charity. We currently employ over 5,000 permanent and casual staff on multiple terms and conditions, have over 100 TUPE terms and operate seven weekly and monthly payrolls.
