Why am I needed?
Community is at the heart of everything that we do at Tenovus Cancer Care to help those affected by cancer. Our aim is simple – to deliver a vision where fewer people get cancer and those that do receive equal access to excellent treatment. However, we can’t do this without your help. Our shops in local communities are crucial to us raising vital funds. So, we’d like you to volunteer your time and commitment to help us make a difference. We need you to help process our stock donations ready for the shop floor.
What will I be doing?
Accepting donations from the public
Sorting through donation bags
Hanging, ticketing and steaming stock
Cleaning and processing non-clothing stock
Maintaining high levels of stock room standards
Generating add-on sales and Gift Aid conversion through high levels of customer service
Completing Gift Aid shop paperwork
Promoting awareness of the charity and the services that we provide
What skills do I need?
A really keen eye for detail
An interest in one of our product areas
Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team
Ability to communicate effectively with other members of the team and customers.
How much time do I need to commit?
We’d need you to give around three hours per week if you can with the possibility to do more if you’d like to. However, we appreciate any time you’d like to give; please let us know this on your application form.
What support will I be given?
Before starting with Tenovus Cancer Care, we ask that you visit the Shop Management team in the shop so we can both see how the role may suit you.
Following that the Shop Manager and team will be on hand to advise and help you select products you can use.

The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) is looking for three members of the Commercial and Partnerships Advisory Committee.
The Commercial and Partnerships Advisory Committee is to provide guidance and make recommendations to the Council or Executive Board on matters pertaining to commercial and partnership opportunities and activity, approach to safeguards and controls for partnership working, and advises them on commercial strategies and performance. The RSPB strategy recognises the importance of partnership in order to maximise the impact it can have. Similarly, commercial activities are key opportunities for the RSPB as we seek to grow and diversify our income.
In addition to making an important contribution to the work of the RSPB, through shaping its strategy and direction and influencing key decisions affecting its delivery of conservation outcomes, participating in an advisory committee can provide excellent networking opportunities, an opportunity to acquire practical experience of committee functions, decision-making process and further development of leadership skills, knowledge, and experience.
About you
We are looking for individuals with relevant experience to join our committees to provide independent, objective, challenging advice to support the Executive Board and Trustees in developing, shaping and implementing of RSPB strategies.
Essential skills, knowledge, and experience across one or more of the following areas:
1. Experience in building successful partnerships to further impact and setting common goals and outcomes.
2. Experience in developing and implementing commercial strategies that identify new income opportunities that help diversity the existing portfolio.
3. Experience in dealing with innovative financial products and how to take them to market.
4. Some prior involvement in the not-for-profit sector would be an advantage but not a requirement.
5. Leadership in setting up monitoring systems and KPIs for determining the effectiveness and success of these partnerships and commercial income stream.

Becoming a rockpool roadie, is a unique opportunity to learn new conservation and people skills. Help Cumbria Wildlife Trust bring wildlife to more people, and more people to wildlife.
We’re looking for volunteers to shadow friendly members of staff to:
-visit the rockpools at Earnse Bay, collect rockpool creatures and take them to places like care homes for people to enjoy.
-engage with organisations such as care home residents, providing information on Earnse Bay’s coastal wildlife and promoting the work of the Cumbria Wildlife Trust in general.
-allow people to engage with rockpool creatures. The aim is for people to ‘connect’ with the creatures and one another, increasing peoples’ mutual happiness, health and sense of nature.
-after their day out, all rockpool creatures will then need to be put safely back onto the beach.

The committee will:
- Set the strategic direction to guide and direct the activities of knus - ensuring growth and positive impact;
- Ensure the effective management of knus and it’s activities; and
- Monitor the activities of knus to ensure they are in keeping with the founding principles, objectives and values
The team will be multidisciplinary incorporating volunteer committee members from all backgrounds. For example, those with lived experience, academics, corporate, psychologists, psychiatrists, counsellors, social workers, mental health nurses, occupational therapists, etc.
The committee members can bring in their own ideas and wealth of experience to shape the way knus moves forward.

Duties
- Support and provide advice on Breck Foundation’s purpose, vision, goals, and activities.

LEVEL OF COMMITMENT
All trustees are required to attend quarterly evening and one full day Board meetings. Board meetings usually take place at the Baca main office, Loughborough, Leicestershire. As appropriate, meetings could also take place virtually.
In addition to reading papers and preparing for meetings/conference calls, Trustees may be called upon for specific advice if they have particular expertise in a given area.
According to their individual skills and experience, Trustees may also be invited to serve on Baca’s Finance or Staff & Young People Wellbeing Committees or on ad-hoc Working Groups. Committees meet quarterly, usually in advance of Board meetings.

The role of the Independent member is to provide the Safety Committee and the Movement with knowledge and experience to make key decisions.
The remit of the Committee is to support the Board of Trustees to fulfil its responsibilities in relation to Safety by:
- Providing vision and direction for consideration and endorsement by the Board (as required) by identifying and contributing to the development of safety policies, procedures and guidance;
- Ensuring that youth members, adult volunteers, parents and staff are engaged in contribution to the development of safety policies;
- Developing and overseeing a performance framework to ensure that safety policies, procedures and practice are monitored to provide assurance to the Board (relating to members, staff and service users) and use this management information to inform and drive improvements; monitoring the local and national implementation of safety policies and procedures to ensure practice is effective and consistently applied;
- Ensuring that appropriate connections are made with other areas of the Association’s work that may have an impact on safety (for example Adult Training by using incident data to highlight areas of success or concern);
- Ensuring that members receive appropriate support and communication to aid understanding of their responsibilities to enable Safe Scouting;
- Leading the process for Fatal Accident and/or Near Miss inquiries from commissioning through to completion;
- Reviewing and overseeing actions from inquiry reports (this should be in conjunction with the respective staff functions, particularly where there is specific policy, procedure and/or practice changes that need to be recommended for considered by the Strategy and Delivery Committee and/or Board (as required);
- Identifying possible areas of development for Association’s safety activities, taking into account relevant national agendas and learning from reviews, whether this be external or internal to the Association
