Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

What we need from you

You’ll be:

· supporting and encouraging a team of fundraising volunteers

· planning fundraising events and activities with your team

· allocating tasks before and during fundraising events

· keeping financial records from fundraising events

· encouraging and promoting a professional image of Cats Protection 

· following policies and guidelines and ensuring licences and permits are obtained for events

Time expectation

Our fundraising team leaders usually spend three to four hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

This is a hands-on role within a small but ambitious team. The Treasurer will have oversight of Men Who Talk’s financial health, ensuring the charity operates in a financially responsible manner while providing the Board with accurate financial information to guide decision-making. 

Our finances are in a strong position, and we entered the new financial year in April with a healthy cash flow and robust fundraising strategy. Over the last 3 years, we have seen yearly financial growth quadruple year on year, with the 2024/25 financial year bringing in over £40,000 of funding through various streams.

Having received grants from funders such as the National Lottery Community Fund, the Simon Rivett-Carnac Trust and the Caterham Round Table amongst others, we have an agreed budget to spend down our current balance over the 2025/26 financial year, with a focus on ambitious growth across all areas.

The Treasurer will work closely with Sam, our Founder and CEO and Martins, our Operations Manager to identify financial risks, ensure compliance with the Charity Commission and HMRC, and develop strategies to secure the charity's financial sustainability as we expand.

Key Responsibilities

• Attendance at Regular Board Meetings: The board meets four times a year, usually a combination of two online and two in-person meetings. Other ad hoc meetings and catch-ups may be required.
   

• Financial Oversight: Regular monitoring of the financial accounts, ensuring the charity adheres to sound financial practices and complies with UK charity regulations.
   

• Long-Term Financial Strategy: Provide guidance on the financial strategy, including planning and budgeting for future growth and expansion.
   

• Monthly Reporting: Present a top-level Treasurer’s Report to the Board each month, outlining the charity’s financial position, income, expenditure, and risks. Board meetings each quarter will also include more in-depth financial updates.
   

• Budgeting: Support the board and CEO in preparing the annual budget, taking into account the charity’s plans for growth, new services, and the expansion of activities.
   

• Financial Risk Management: Identify potential financial risks and recommend strategies to mitigate these risks.
   

• Compliance: Ensure that financial procedures are followed, including the maintenance of designated and undesignated funds.
   

• Reserves: As a priority for 2025/26, the Treasurer will take a lead on updating our reserves policy and ensuring this is adhered to going forward.
   

• Collaboration: Work closely with the CEO to ensure the charity’s finances align with its goals, particularly as we expand our services and charitable activities over the next three years.
   

• Annual Accounts: The Treasurer will take the lead on the preparation and submission of the annual accounts, working with an external auditor and accountant to ensure the charity’s accounts are transparent and well-maintained.
   

• Financial Procedures: Ensure effective financial controls are in place and help the team implement best practices for financial management.
   

• Advise the Board: Provide financial advice and insights to support the Board in making informed decisions regarding the charity’s operations and growth.

Would you like to be part of a dedicated and friendly team of volunteers and make a real difference to the lives of cats and kittens in our care?  Do you enjoy planning and organising for events?  Maybe you have a particular skill that you would like to put to use?
 
Then this could be the role for you! 
 
Our Fundraising Events Team are at the heart of what we do, raising essential funds for the cats. 

Our Fundraising Events Organisers share ideas, tasks and inspiration, planning and delivering local events, with the support of the Fundraising events helpers, such as Open Days (usually 2 per year) at the centre and our annual Christmas Bazaar. 

Time Expectation:  This role can be varied and time commitment can be flexible. 

Without volunteers, Cats Protection Berkshire Cat Centre simply wouldn't exist. Our amazing, friendly volunteers are a diverse group with a shared love of cats who fit volunteering around their home lives and personal commitments.

We're often looking to welcome new volunteers to join our brilliant team. As well as meeting great people and making an incredible difference to the cats of Berkshire.

Please note:  Although we do welcome everyone, unfortunately our centre is not set up to accommodate young volunteers under the age of 18, including those on the Duke of Edinburgh programme.

As a Community Workshop Assistant volunteer, you will be an invaluable part of the Birmingham team, supporting the hub to deliver frontline services. This role is an exciting and new opportunity to make a real difference within the wider community.

The accessible workshops are delivered primarily out in the community to Shelter clients and professionals however we may also deliver these by Microsoft Teams. The aim is to help empower clients to understand their rights and provide necessary support and signposting in areas such as temporary accommodation and budgeting. You will play a supportive role, helping the Housing Rights Worker deliver these workshops and being part of the development of future workshops. 

In addition, you’ll be developing your own knowledge and skills to support local people with a range of housing issues as well as providing practical support within the workshop. You will gain experience of volunteering within a recognised national housing charity, while supporting your local community. 

Suggested Involvement: Approximately one day per month (can be more & can be flexible around your commitments) 

Availability: This volunteering opportunity will take place within our working hours, Monday-Friday, 9am – 5pm. 

Location: Shelter Birmingham 38 Priory Queensway, Maple House, Birmingham, B4 7LA but this role will be within the local community.

• Supporting the Housing Rights Worker to facilitate the workshop

Skills and experience required 

• An interest in social welfare e.g. housing, welfare benefits, debt. 

• Good communication skills (this may be through experience of working with the public) 

• Ability to collaborate with a team. 

• Confident using IT including Microsoft Office programmes

• Since its creation, Quilombo UK has collected a great amount of information, evidence and items through projects, fundraisers, events etc.

• We are looking for a team member to find published materials related to Quilombo UK key objectives and interests, especially cultural and racial diversity, and stereotypes in UK communities. The materials include all types of evidence, articles, journals, newspaper columns, local and global news stories. 

• The researcher will help to collect information that can be used as an evidence base to help inform future activities, and also in exhibitions, workshops, and community events. 

• We are looking for a self-starter who can source, collect, and share relevant materials independently. You will also be working closely with our Professional Development Programme participants in relevant areas such as Marketing and PR.

• Provide written reports as and when required. To undertake additional duties as required for the role.

General tasks

• Contribute to staff meetings and other internal meetings with views and suggestions etc.

Essential:

• You will need to have good written skills and be able to explain concepts and projects concisely and accurately.

The Professional Development Programme with Quilombo UK runs over a period of 16 weeks, is UNPAID and requires a minimum of 12 hours commitment per week across Monday, Wednesday and/or Friday.

Upon successful application, our HR team will contact you to arrange an interview. Following a successful interview, we'll initiate the onboarding process by sending you the necessary documents. Once your onboarding and identification documents are received and verified, you'll be invited to a 6-hour HR and System Induction. About Jabalie

Jabalie is a UK registered charity that aims to educate and empower survivors and individuals at high-risk of gender-based violence to promote their safety, autonomy and economic independence. Our vision is a world in which people of all genders are economically empowered, free from violence and abuse, and lead full lives with freedom and autonomy.

We are currently developing an education and empowerment programme for survivors of gender-based violence, to be delivered in the UK and Kenya.

Our name is derived from the word “Jabali” meaning “strong as a rock” in Swahili, symbolising  the strength of all those we work with.

Role description

The Board of Trustees plays a vital role in making sure that Jabalie achieves its core purpose. They oversee the overall management and administration of the charity. They also ensure that Jabalie has a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our vision.

As a small and newly registered charity, our Trustees have an active role in the organisation relating to their area of expertise, beyond the Board meetings.

General Trustee Duties

The duties of a Trustee include:

• Attending and contributing at quarterly Trustee Board meetings.
• Ensuring that Jabalie pursues its stated objectives (purposes) defined in its Constitution, including helping to develop a long-term strategy to achieve them.
• Ensuring that Jabalie complies with its governing rules laid out in its Constitution.
• Ensuring that Jabalie complies with charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations.
• Ensuring the financial stability of Jabalie.

Philanthropy and Development

In addition to the general duties of a Trustee, duties of the Philanthropy and Development Trustee include the following:

• Developing and overseeing fundraising strategy with action plans, ensuring they align with Jabalie’s strategic goals and financial needs.
• Cultivating relationships with donors, funders, and key stakeholders to secure financial support and long-term commitments.
• Identifying opportunities to collaborate with businesses, foundations, and institutions for sponsorships, grants, and major gifts.
• Managing and maintaining data and information on potential opportunities and relationships for generating funds in a systematic way, such as using a CRM system.
• Working with the Marketing and Communications Trustee in developing initiatives and campaigns for fundraising and generating donations.
• Managing the planning and execution of fundraising initiatives, events and campaigns to engage the community and attract new supporters.
• Working with the Strategy and Impact Analysis Trustee in establishing and overseeing impact evaluation and performance metrics in alignment of funders’ requirements.
• Evaluating the level of success of the fundraising and donor engagement efforts, and providing feedback and data analysis that could shape future initiatives, events and campaigns.
• Ensuring fundraising efforts comply with relevant regulations and ethical standards, maintaining transparency and accountability.
• Acting as an ambassador for Jabalie, championing its mission and fostering philanthropic support through networking and public speaking (as required).

Terms of appointment

A bit about this role

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

What can you expect to be doing?

• Supporting and encouraging a team of fundraising volunteers in the Mid-Sussex area
• Planning fundraising events and activities with your team
• Allocating tasks before and during fundraising events
• Keeping financial records from fundraising events
• Encouraging and promoting a professional image of Cats Protection 
• Following policies and guidelines and ensuring licences and permits are obtained for events

A bit more information about this role and the team

• This is a flexible role. The amount of time you offer can work to your availability and convenience.
• There may be opportunities for your activities to be fully remote and/or admin based if you'd prefer.
• You will need your own transport if you wish to attend events, ideally a car or van since items, stock and equipment will usually be needed.
• We ask that you complete training to support you in your role. This can be completed online if you have access to the internet and the necessary device (computer/laptop/tablet etc). Support can be offered or paper versions of much of the training if needed.

Time expectation

Our fundraising team leaders usually spend three to four hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

We provide support and guidance from our National Cat Centre and through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. We offer engaging online and face-to-face training, expenses and have policies and processes to help volunteers get the most out of their time with us.

We level the playing field for athletic sponsorships enabling more athletes to reach their full potential.

Large brands and agencies dominate the sports sponsorship marketplace. As a result, many athletes, including female, disabled, and LGBTQ+ athletes from various ethnicities or lower socioeconomic backgrounds, are often left without sponsors and access to what they need to reach their potential.
In addition, many sponsors need help finding and developing a genuine connection with an athlete, which leads to issues connecting with their audiences. There is no way to search for sponsors or athletes directly without involving costly agencies. Transparency and self-management are crucial in democratising the marketplace. The opportunity to make this sector more equitable is now.

We have built an innovative self-managed athlete-sponsorship platform focused on unique connections between sponsors and athletes. Sponsors, athletes, and fans can sign-up. Athletes create a public profile page with information and media about themselves. Sponsors create campaigns which athletes & teams search and apply for. In addition, all users can follow athletes who post on our social feed. Negotiation steps are in-built before the contract is confirmed; secure payment is taken for the sponsorship amount and held securely. As milestones are reached, an athlete's payment percentage is released, protecting both sides. our latest build has developed our campaign area, where marketing assets are now auto-generated in the brand and athlete voice through AI and ML implementation. Once a campaign has gone live, there is now a dashboard that shows its engagement success and delivers the data points you would expect to understand for each campaign alongside a social value calculation that maps to the SDGs and other CSR markers. Our UI and UX are updated to ensure the right data is captured and the user journey is streamlined. This new release will go live in January 2025 when we have secured our IP and started to build out our team. Our model enables the fair distribution of power.

PR Officer

Volunteer Role Description (remote, unpaid)

We are looking for a creative and committed PR Officer to lead the development and delivery of a bold public relations strategy that champions the mission of our platform—connecting athletes with businesses in ways that promote fair representation, inclusion, and diversity.

Our platform serves a dual audience: we support athletes in raising their visibility and creating new opportunities, while helping businesses engage meaningfully with talent that reflects broader society. Communicating the value of this unique approach is at the heart of this role.

Key Responsibilities Strategic Development: Design a comprehensive PR strategy aimed at increasing sign-ups and engagement across both sides of our platform—athletes and businesses.

Campaign Execution: Plan, coordinate, and deliver a targeted campaign that delivers results on time and within a modest budget.

Audience Engagement: Craft and tailor messaging to reach both athlete communities and corporate stakeholders, clearly articulating the social and commercial benefits of involvement.

Media & Outreach:

Identify and secure opportunities to feature athlete ambassadors across key channels, including radio, TV, podcasts, and digital publications.

Create and place compelling stories and articles in industry media and relevant online spaces.

Partnership Amplification:

Highlight and make the most of existing and emerging partnerships through strategic PR opportunities.
