We are looking to recruit an Activities Organiser for the West Hertfordshire Group. As our local group Activities Organiser you’ll play a crucial role in developing and planning activities and events with your local group. You’ll be responsible for creating and coordinating an annual calendar of events and making sure they’re run safely and effectively to make the most impact. You’ll take a lead role at events on the day and inspire your fellow volunteers to get involved.

In this role you’ll be able to develop your organisation, communication, administration and negotiation skills. 

Time commitment

Job description - Trustee

We are a successful and professionally run charitable preschool at the heart of Walthamstow with a strong ethos and excellent reputation. We’re here to make sure everyone has access to high quality and affordable early years education and childcare.

The Board

The Board can have up to nine members and may include a Chair, Vice Chair and Treasurer. The role of the Board is to make sure Shernhall Preschool acts within the law and within the best interests of residents (we currently have 5 members).

We’re keen to recruit people with experience of any of the following:

• Professional experience of working in education/teaching

• Professional expertise within Human Resources

• Financial management experience.

The Board must act as a group, not as individuals and takes decisions collectively.

· Ensure that Shernhall Preschool complies with its governing document (its Articles of Association), charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations,

· Keep up-to-date with the Charity Commission’s Regulatory Framework,

· Contribute actively to the Board by giving firm strategic direction to Shernhall Preschool, setting overall policy, defining goals, setting targets, and evaluating performance against agreed targets

· Ensure the financial stability of Shernhall Preschool,

· Ensure the organisation’s accounts are a true and fair representation of the organisation’s finances,

· Ensure Shernhall Preschool applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objects. For example, it must not spend money on activities which are not included in the objects, however worthwhile they may be,

· Make decisions for the benefit of the organisation, exercising independent judgement and declaring any interests, exercising reasonable skill, care and diligence in carrying out activities,

· Safeguard the good name and values of Shernhall Preschool,

· Adhere to Shernhall Preschool’s Code of Conduct.

In addition to the above statutory duties, each trustee should use any specific skills, knowledge or experience they have to help the Board reach sound decisions. We are looking for a dynamic and innovative fundraising specialist individual with drive and passion that aligns with the purpose of The Iolanthe Midwifery Trust to join our Board of Trustees. As a proven fundraising specialist, you will work in collaboration with the Board of Trustees, The Executive Director and the Philanthropy Officer as we roll out our fundraising strategy.The Fundraising Trustee will sit on the Board as well as The Finance and Fundraising sub committees.

Iolanthe has an endowment fund which provides some of the income needed each year to fund awards. As part of our 3 year strategy we will  diversity our income streams and focus on the following areas

• Individual

• Legacies

• Philanthropy/Corporates

We have recently appointed a Philanthropy Officer who is working to roll out our fundraising strategy and have a legacy consultant working with us to develop this area further.

Key responsibilities for fundraising lead trustee

• Oversight of Fundraising Strategy

• Digital fundraising

• Support with dealing with Donors

• Support with Fundraising Events/Event Management

• Identification and support with HNW/Philanthropic Fundraising

• CSR

Meetings: 

The Board meets three times a year in March, June and October.  All but 1 meeting (October combined AGM/Board meeting/Award event) are  held remotely.  Meetings generally last no longer than 2 hours and with the exception of the October meetings are held on a weekday evening.

The Finance sub committee meets remotely 3 times a year approximately 10 days ahead of the Board meetings.

The Fundraising sub committee will meet remotely and feed through to the main Board meetings.

Fundraising trustee - this is what we need from you

Proven experience of executing successful fundraising campaigns, who can provide support with the following key areas:

• Strategy development: Working with the Board of Trustees, Executive Director and Philanthropy Officer to help shape an effective fundraising strategy, fostering long-term sustainability and growth in line with our values

• Strategy execution: Support as necessary the process of fund identification 

• Partnership Development: Targeted and strategic identification of partnerships to advance our goals and support to manage key stakeholders

Refettorio Felix is a community kitchen with an open-door policy in the Earl's Court area. We provide a safe haven and a warm, welcoming atmosphere for those facing homelessness and financial crises.
