They are currently seeking an Independent Director to join the Board of their trading subsidiary. This is a critical governance role, providing strategic insight, external perspective, and constructive challenge. The successful candidate will contribute to informed decision-making, robust risk management, and ensure that the client’s work remains closely aligned with their charitable mission and long-term objectives.

The client's vision is a world where people, communities, and services collaborate to shape effective systems that offer every child and young person a fair chance to grow up happy, safe, healthy and thriving. Their work spans a variety of vital areas, including early years support, mental health systems, child protection, and increasing opportunities for young people - driving systemic change where it’s needed most.

They’re particularly interested in hearing from individuals who bring:

• Board-level or senior leadership experience, ideally in a socially focused or purpose-led setting—this could include consultancy, social enterprise, or commercial organisations with strong values

• An independent and thoughtful mindset, comfortable asking critical questions, providing both support and challenge, and collaborating effectively

• Financial and strategic confidence, with a sound understanding of governance, organisational risk, and operating a business with a social impact mission

• A real commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people, and a belief in more equitable, inclusive systems

The client is especially keen to bring new and diverse perspectives to their Board. You might have experience in areas such as public service transformation, youth leadership, community organising, philanthropy, research and evaluation or you may bring insights from another relevant discipline.

Key Responsibilities

1. Governance

· Ensure the charity is carrying out its purposes for the public benefit.

· Safeguard the charity’s reputation, values, and mission.

· Ensure compliance with the Charity Commission’s regulations, the charity’s governing document, and relevant UK laws.

· Support the development and monitoring of organisational policies and procedures

2. Strategic Oversight

· Contribute to the strategic direction of 3ST, ensuring alignment with our mission and values

3. Financial Management

· Approve budgets and ensure proper financial oversight, including adherence to charity accounting standards.

· Senior-level experience in either finance, procurement, or governance within the public, private, or voluntary sector

The Nasio Trust

The Nasio Trust is a non-profit organisation that is empowering communities to break the cycle of poverty through the provision of education, healthcare and sustainable livelihoods.

The Nasio Trust works in western Kenya - an impoverished yet fertile zone in the country. Located close to Lake Victoria on the Trans African Highway, the area has been ravaged by HIV, whose rates continue to be high. Endemic poverty due to small land holdings, unpredictable agricultural yields and lack of industry has exacerbated other social issues such as teenage pregnancy and child safeguarding.

The Nasio Trust has a holistic and self sustaining model of operation that provides the child with an environment in which they can flourish and grow. Our Early Childhood Education Centres have an intake from age 4 and up. The families of supported children have access to free healthcare through our medical centre and they are empowered to become economically independent through training in enterprises such as soap making and poultry.

Fundraising Strategist

Volunteer Role Description (remote, unpaid)

Create a 5-year fundraising strategy for a UK and Kenya based charity that can appropriately tackle prevailing issues in the global development landscape such as funding cuts.

Detailed description

Mentoring within One YMCA is delivered through the youth team and volunteers. Young people aged 13-19 years can access the service which provides support and encouragement for young people to work towards their goals.

Mentors and mentees are paired based on experience, expertise and support needed.

This project will last for up to a year with each young person, with an average of 3-4 hours per month being given to the young person and their support.

Training for this role is due to commence on 22nd January 2025 (Time and Location TBC)

Pay: This is a voluntary role; however, expenses will be covered.

Key Responsibilities:

·To attend full induction training and complete all relevant child protection checks

·To arrange to meet with your mentee for 1-3 hours a month over a period of 12 months, in a public place.

·To prepare for your mentoring sessions with the purpose of progressing with their mutually agreed goals.

·To offer tailored support to your Mentee in areas such as confidence and resilience building, accessing services, careers focus and development. You may be working on a number of areas as the needs of your Mentee present themselves.

·To safeguard and promote the wellbeing of your Mentee.

·To complete feedback, monitoring and evaluation forms.

·To liaise with the mentoring coordinator for support in delivery of sessions where needed.

·To help identify the support that your Mentee requires, reporting any concerns you have to the mentoring coordinator.

·Completing regular reviews with your Mentee and mentoring coordinator.

·Any other reasonable task that is associated with the role.
