Location: Remote (UK only) or based in our HQ in Truro (Hybrid) - occasional travel within the UK will be required.
ROLE PURPOSE:
This diverse and dynamic role sits at the heart of ShelterBox's high-performing Philanthropy & Partnerships team. You will provide the creative, analytical and operational backbone that enables the team to secure the funding needed to reach more people affected by disaster, conflict and climate change.
Your work will empower fundraisers to identify and build meaningful relationships with major donors, corporates and grant-making partners, and to deliver exceptional experiences for these supporters. You'll be the creative force behind how we bring people closer to ShelterBox's work - producing powerful impact reporting, compelling stories and other high-quality materials that ensure our funders feel informed, engaged and excited about the difference they make.
You'll form strong working relationships with colleagues across ShelterBox, particularly within our International Programmes and Brand & Content teams, immersing yourself in our work and transforming complex information into engaging, creative materials for a variety of audiences.
Alongside the Philanthropy & Partnerships Assistant (line managed by this post), you will form the team's vital engine room - together you'll strengthen systems and insight that make our fundraising effective, leading on prospect research, pipeline tools and CRM best practice.

Experience in a fundraising environment is helpful but not required - this is more about skills, mindset and creativity than fundraising experience.
DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
Stewardship & Supporter Experience
- Bring ShelterBox's work to life - develop a range of compelling assets and materials to engage and inspire high-level supporters, showcasing our impact.
- Work collaboratively to write and design high-quality, compelling reports tailored in style and content to suit a range of audiences.
- Work closely with the Philanthropy & Partnerships team to ensure gold standard stewardship for ShelterBox's donors: driving creative, unique and inspiring ideas for tailored stewardship touchpoints throughout the year.
- Own the Philanthropy & Partnerships stewardship calendar, and co-ordinate with fundraisers across the global ShelterBox network to share resources.
- Support with the delivery of Philanthropy & Partnerships stewardship and cultivation events.
- Support with preparations for, and delivery of, emergency fundraising activity in response to major disasters.
- Work with fundraisers to ensure stewardship activity is planned and tracked on the CRM (Microsoft Dynamics), enabling clear reporting on engagement efforts.
Research, Pipeline & Insight
- Conduct prospect research, screening and network mapping to support the development of a healthy pipeline.
- Maintain effective moves management tools and dashboards to help fundraisers understand progress and opportunities.
- Support due-diligence checks and risk assessments on prospective partners and funders.
- Monitor sector trends, philanthropic behaviours and the landscape affecting high-value giving.
- Work with the Philanthropy & Partnerships Assistant to lead best-practice use of the CRM within the team, supporting data hygiene, templates, workflows and new functionality.
- Gather and analyse donor insight alongside the Insight team to help the Philanthropy & Partnerships team make data-led decisions.
- Capture lessons learned from stewardship and pipeline activities; facilitating wash-ups, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
Line Management & General Responsibilities
- Line manage the Philanthropy & Partnerships Assistant with care and clarity - including coaching, objective setting, workload management and professional development.
- Support cross-team project delivery related to stewardship, insight and operations.
- Represent ShelterBox positively at all times and reflect our organisational values - integrity, flexibility, participation and learning.

We protect children by working with people who pose a risk and diverting them from causing harm. We support individuals and families who have been affected by abuse. And we help professionals who work with families to create safer environments for children through delivering risk assessments, interventions, training and consultancy.
About the role and you
This is a key role in a fast-paced, collaborative communications and advocacy team helping to deliver real impact in the prevention of offline and online child sexual abuse across the UK.
As a communications all-rounder, you’ll report to the Communications Manager and support colleagues across the team to deliver engaging, accessible and effective communications that help prevent child sexual abuse.
You’ll play a vital role in supporting our digital channels, campaigns and content creation - from social media and newsletters to website updates and printed materials. You’ll help us maintain a consistent, engaging and professional presence across our communication platforms and contribute to us achieving greater awareness of our work.
Here are some of the skills we’re looking for and we’re happy to support the right candidate to grow and learn on the job:
- You’ll be confident using social media to reach different audiences and be able to design multimedia content that’s engaging and on-brand.
- You’ll be a strong writer and editor, able to tailor content for different platforms and audiences - from short social posts to longer-form blogs and newsletters.
- You’ll be familiar with website content management systems (like WordPress) and ideally have some experience with paid digital campaigns (e.g. Google Ads, Meta).
- You’ll be organised and proactive, able to juggle multiple tasks and support colleagues across different projects and teams.
- You’ll be comfortable using data and analytics to evaluate and improve communications.
- You’ll be a team player with a positive attitude, keen to learn and contribute to our organisation’s mission.
You’ll be energetic, curious, and solutions-focused, with a good eye for detail and a passion for delivering impactful, creative communications across our platforms and channels. You’ll be comfortable working independently and collaboratively, and able to build strong relationships with colleagues and external partners.
