Job Summary  

Rape Crisis England & Wales is the feminist charity working to end child sexual abuse, rape, sexual assault, sexual harassment and all other forms of sexual violence.

We are looking for a Finance Officer who can work in a fast paced and demanding role to support the organisation. A high level of professionalism and confidentiality is crucial. This role is responsible for ensuring that all financial matters are handled responsibly and involves processing transactions and journals, supporting month-end close, preparing financial reports for team members, and checking financial transactions for corrections and coding errors.

You will support payment runs on a bi-weekly basis and assist with payroll preparation, working closely with the Freelance Finance Manager and colleagues across the organisation.

This role follows a remote working arrangement, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer/Head of Operations and will involve working with colleagues across the organisation on the following tasks

Key Responsibilities:

· Maintain books of prime entry, to include managing receipts and invoices and associated financial records, files and supporting documentation.

· Process accounts payable end-to-end, ensuring accurate and timely payment of all authorised expenditure (bi-weekly payment runs).

· Prepare sales invoices as required and support credit control to ensure debtors pay promptly.

· Maintain an accurate and up-to-date nominal ledger, ensuring correct coding and prompt correction of errors.

· Reconcile key control accounts regularly (including bank, salaries, PAYE), maintaining clear working papers, analysis and audit trail.

· Reconcile senior managers’ expenses monthly, ensuring compliance with internal processes.

· Prepare payroll information and monthly payroll for review and sign-off by the Freelance Finance Manager/authorised approver and set payroll payments up on the banking system.

· Prepare month-end journals (including prepayments and payroll journals) and support the month-end close process.

· Run transaction and finance reports for colleagues, supporting analysis and helping resolve errors and queries.

· Work with the Freelance Finance Manager to support the production and monitoring of annual budgets and forecasts, monthly management accounts and year-end statutory accounts, providing information and analysis as required.

· Work closely with staff across Rape Crisis England & Wales, providing day-to-day finance support, advice and information as appropriate, and escalating issues to the Freelance Finance Manager and/or COO/Head of Operations when needed.

· Provide cover and support for the Finance Manager function as required, in line with agreed responsibilities and capacity.

· Undertake any other reasonable duties commensurate with the role.

We are currently seeking a freelance Social Media Manager who thrives on working on initiative, in an exciting and engaging environment. The post holder will manage our active channels: Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn. With input from our small cross-functional team, we are seeking someone to draft text and create content (including video and reels) for our audiences, which are made up of families living with Dravet Syndrome, health and care professionals and researchers. We use Canva for design.

You’ll post and schedule (using Hootsuite) dynamic, engaging and creative content, helping to amplify the voices and stories of our community. This includes sharing a range of updates, from family events to scientific developments; promoting the services that Dravet Syndrome UK provides to its beneficiaries; and supporting fundraising activities.

You will contribute to reporting, use findings to impact future content, keep up with social media trends and identify improvements to reach new audiences. At the moment, our content is mostly organic, but from time to time, there may be a budget to get involved in paid-for campaigns.

About Dravet Syndrome

Dravet Syndrome UK (DSUK) is a small independent UK charity dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by Dravet Syndrome. Dravet Syndrome is a rare neurological condition that affects around one in every 15,000 people in the UK. As well as experiencing severe, difficult-to-control seizures, children and adults with Dravet Syndrome have varying degrees of intellectual disability and a spectrum of associated conditions (known as ‘comorbidities’), which may include autism, ADHD, behaviours that challenge and difficulties with speech, mobility, eating and sleep.

The charity was founded in 2009 by a small group of 30 families. Today, DSUK is a registered charity helping approximately 600 families with support, education, and research programmes, underpinned by a world-class Medical Advisory Board.

PANS and PANDAS are complex neuro-psychiatric conditions which are frequently 

misunderstood and misdiagnosed. PANS PANDAS UK are the only charity in the UK 

working to improve outcomes and ensure brighter futures for people affected by PANS and PANDAS. 

We provide support and information to families, and work tirelessly to inform medical 

practice, raise awareness, engage with medical, social work and educational 

professionals, and much more. 

We are a small team based at home in various UK locations. We keep in touch frequently online and have a warm, supportive and positive culture. 

OVERALL PURPOSE 

The Education Training Development Manager will lead the operational development, and delivery of the national education training programme, ensuring it aligns with organisational priorities and emerging national guidance. The role is responsible for the coordination, growth and quality assurance of PANS PANDAS UK’s national CPD training offer for teachers and educational psychologists (EPs), supporting the development and delivery of high‑quality training modules and strengthening partnerships.

The role reports to and works in close collaboration with the PANS PANDAS UK Education Lead, who retains overall ownership, strategic responsibility and final decision‑making authority for the training programme and the wider education strategy.

Central to this role is working collaboratively with the PANS and PANDAS community and the Youth Advisory Board (YAB) to ensure all training is informed by lived experience.

Key Responsibilities

Programme & Content Development

• Jointly review, update and refine existing CPD materials with the Education Lead, informed by national guidance and emerging research, with the Education Lead holding overall responsibility
• Support development of new training modules and associated materials.
• Explore future delivery models to expand national reach and scalability.
• Identify opportunities for integration of PANS or PANDAS training/materials within University/Initial Teacher Training (ITT) and other relevant programmes.
• Work collaboratively with the PANS PANDAS community and Youth Advisory Board (YAB) to ensure training reflects lived experience.

Trainer Recruitment & Capacity Building

• Recruit and induct additional trainers.
• Support trainer development.
• Maintain consistent quality standards.
• Deliver priority or pilot training sessions when needed to help support programme growth and maintain delivery capacity.

Strategic Programme Oversight

• Provide leadership and direction for the development and delivery of the national education training programme within the strategic framework set by the Education Lead.
• Ensure training content and delivery models align with organisational priorities and upcoming national guidance.
• Lead long-term programme planning, sustainability and continuous improvement.

Partnership Development & Sector Engagement

• Build relationships with MATs, LAs, Universities and other national relevant organisations.
• Work with the charity Communications and Engagement Officer to promote the training models across social media and education networks.
• Attend and present at education sector events and networks to raise awareness of training opportunities.

Commissioning & Income Support

• Develop commissioning packages tailored to MATs, LA’s and other relevant organisations.
• Support pricing structures.
• Identify sustainable income opportunities for the charity via the training.

Quality Assurance & Evaluation

• Oversee monitoring and evaluation processes.
• Prepare reports for the charity as required.

Operational Coordination

• Coordinate scheduling, setup and delivery logistics for all training sessions.
• Manage bookings, confirmations, resource distribution, attendance recording and data collection
• Lead regular training team meetings to support planning and quality assurance.
• Support management and storage of training assets.
• Maintain regular communication with the Education Lead.

About the role

We’re looking for a Head of Research & Evidence to join our ambitious Research, Learning & Systems Change Team. 

Young Lives vs Cancer has a strong and growing commitment to changing the system for children and young people with cancer, and their loved ones. Our North Star vision and Time is Now Strategy focus on influencing how the wider system works – from services and policy to practice on the ground – so that families get the support they need.

The Head of Research and Evidence sits in the Research, Learning & Systems Change team, within our Innovation, Policy & Systems Change Directorate. The role is responsible for ensuring our work is grounded in strong, credible and useful evidence, and that learning is actively used to shape decisions, practice and change across the system.

This is a leadership role within a small but ambitious team. You will set direction and provide thought leadership, but you will also be hands on – designing, commissioning, managing and using research alongside colleagues and partners.

Building trusted relationships and using evidence to influence thinking and action are central. You will work with colleagues, children and young people, families, and partner organisations (such as the North Star Cancer Collective) to learn, strengthen credibility and create change.

What will I be doing?

No two days are the same at Young Lives vs Cancer. So, summarising your ‘day to day’ isn’t easy. You’ll work as part of a strong internal team, collaborating closely with colleagues across the organisation and with key external partners to generate, use and apply evidence that supports learning, influence and system change.
