ISH is looking for three trustees to join the Board of Governors (the “ Board”). We are looking for individuals who have experience in the private, public, or charitable sector and who can bring their entrepreneurial, management, and governance skills to assist the charity in delivering its mission. What difference will you make?
The statutory duties of a trustee are to:
- Work with fellow Board members and SMT in setting the Charity’s strategic aims, ensuring that the necessary financial and other resources are in place for ISH to meet its objectives and review performance management.
- Provide leadership to the Charity within a framework of prudent and effective controls, which enable risks to be assessed and managed.
- Comply with its governing document, charity law, company law and all other relevant law, legislation and/or regulations;
- Pursue its objectives as defined in its governing document;
- Use its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objectives, and in doing so fulfils its purpose for the benefit of the public;
- Maintain proper systems, procedures and controls and that they are kept under regular review.

- Appoint the CEO and monitor their performance

Counterpoints Arts is a leading national organisation working at the intersection of arts, migration and social change. For 11 years, Counterpoints Arts has been at the vanguard of cultural commissioning and practice, supporting and producing the arts by and about migrants and refugees, ensuring that their contributions are recognized and welcomed within British arts, history and culture.
The range of Counterpoints Arts’ work has grown considerably since it was founded in 2012 and we are now seeking a new Treasurer with a strong financial background and the skills and experience that will complement those of existing Board members. Counterpoints Arts aims to attract and retain talented people from all backgrounds to its Board of Trustees. About the role
The role of the Trustee Treasurer is to maintain oversight at Board level of Counterpoints Arts’ finances, and is primarily a governance and strategic role that does not involve any day-to-day involvement in bookkeeping. Please note that this is an unpaid role, with travel expenses covered.
Responsibilities:
- Contributing updates alongside other Trustees and the Director at quarterly meetings
- Supporting the Director with review of monthly management accounts and presenting financial reports at each meeting
- Leading on key policies at Board level, where relevant, for example the Reserves policy / Anti-Fraud policy
- Leading on risk management and reporting at each meeting
- Ensuring correct review and sign off of year end accounts and that accounts are prepared and disclosed in the form required by funders and the relevant statutory bodies
- Acting as a signatory for other relevant forms, such as grant agreements
- Keeping the Board informed about its financial duties and responsibilities
- Sitting on recruitment and disciplinary panels, as needed
- Be available to provide ad hoc support and guidance outside of quarterly Board meetings and in exceptional circumstances, as needed
Essential Requirements:
- Alignment with and a commitment to the aims, overall mission and culture/values of Counterpoints Arts
- Experience in a senior role, for example Operations Director or similar in the private, public or not for profit sector
- A willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to the Board and to advocate for Counterpoints Arts’ vision and programme
- An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship
- An openness to share with Counterpoints Arts your extended expertise, pathways and networks
- An ability to work and contribute effectively as a member of a Board and to take decisions for the overall good of Counterpoints Arts

In addition to the above person specification for a trustee, candidates for the role of Treasurer should also have the following experience:
- Financial qualifications and experience
- Some experience of fundraising and pension schemes
- Knowledge of the entities and processes that govern charitable organisations
- Skills to analyse proposals/documents and examine their financial consequences
Desirable Experience includes:
- Experience of working in the charity sector or in the field of arts/migration.
The successful candidate for the Trustee Treasurer position at Counterpoints Arts will gain the opportunity to contribute strategically to an organisation at the forefront of promoting arts, migration, and social change. Time Commitment
The Trustee Board meets once each quarter for an average of 2 hours. Trustees are then required to commit the time necessary to follow up on agreed action points. In addition, Counterpoints Arts may organise more structured meetings to discuss specific matters and strategy directly or on issues that are urgent. Trustees are also invited to attend the events organised by Counterpoints Arts.

ABOUT THE TREASURER ROLE
We're looking for a volunteer treasurer to join our valued board of trustees and play a pivotal role in ensuring our organisation is well governed and complies with all financial legislation and good practice relating to charities and charitable income.
Our board meets 6 times per annum combining in-person with remote meetings to benefit all members. In addition, our finance & risk sub-committee meets ahead of main board meetings, approximately 2 weeks in advance, to fully review our financial position and any risks posed to the organisation, be they financial or otherwise.

Debt Justice is looking for a Treasurer to support our board to meet our financial responsibilities. Debt Justice is a UK based campaigning organisation that challenges poverty and inequality caused by unjust debt. In solidarity with global allies, we actively challenge the way that debt is used to sustain colonialism and exploitation in the global economy. At the same time, we use a community organising approach to build the collective power of people with lived experience of debt in local communities across the UK. About We Are Family
We Are Family is an extraordinary peer support community for adopters and prospective adopters. We’re there for parents throughout their adoption journey. IRC UK Board of Trustees
Members of our Board of Trustees are the charity’s Trustees and act as company directors. They are responsible for overall good governance of IRC UK in accordance with the provisions of relevant legislation and guidance, including the Companies Act 2006 and Charities Act 2011.
The primary focus of the Board is on furthering IRC UK’s charitable purposes as set out in the Articles of Association, and in turn growing and improving the support that IRC clients receive. Skills, experience and knowledge we are looking for

Together the Trustees are collectively responsible for the governance and management of the Charity, including regulatory compliance. About the Role
The Bridge Project is a well-established Bradford based charity with over 35 years’ experience delivering services and projects addressing a range of issues such as substance misuse, risk taking behaviours, relationships, housing, physical/mental health, and employment. We work with individuals, families, partners, and communities to improve people’s lives in a sustainable way, empowering people experiencing multiple barriers to achieve positive change.
We currently employ over 120 staff, 40% of whom are ‘experts by experience’ and have joined us through our volunteering programme. We are recognised as being innovative and recovery focused, and our services have been highlighted nationally as examples of best practice in the sector. Our portfolio of services and projects are constantly evolving in response to the changing needs of our service users and our local communities. Currently this includes recovery focussed drug treatment services, housing and resettlement support, access to education, training, and employment (ETE), volunteering programmes, support for people engaged with criminal justice services and befriending/mentoring services for people with significant barriers to recovery and community reengagement.

Our Trustees play a pivotal role in governing the Bridge Project. They are responsible for setting our strategic vision and priorities, ensuring our financial sustainability, and providing guidance and oversight to our operations. Our Board is committed to excellence, and we are looking for new individuals to bring fresh knowledge and experience to join us in this important work. We’re committed to creating a Board which is representative of the communities we support, bringing together those with a variety of skills and experiences, to help shape what we do and how we work. These are a mixture of in-person meetings in Bradford and zoom meetings. Meetings are currently held in the evening. Trustees are also encouraged to visit our premises to meet with the staff team and meet the people we support.

About We Are Family
We Are Family is an extraordinary peer support community for adopters and prospective adopters. We’re there for parents throughout their adoption journey. Online and in person, our parents’ groups, events, resources, podcasts and talks offer mutual support, information and inspiration to adopters and those considering adoption. We currently operate across Greater London and the Home Counties, with ambitions to scale nationally over the coming years.
The Role
We Are Family is seeking to appoint a committed and motivated Treasurer who will work closely with the Board of Trustees and play an active part in the governance of the organisation’s finances.
This is a voluntary opportunity with associated Trustee expenses - such as travel / childcare - covered by We Are Family. The Company Secretary can be based anywhere in the UK.

We Are Family typically holds four Board meetings per year

In addition to being involved in Board meetings, the Treasurer should expect to spend 8-10 hours each month on work related to the finances of the charity.

The normal term of appointment for a Treasurer is three years, after which there is the opportunity to renew for a further three-year period.
Skills and Experience
In this role you will:

Advise on the financial implications of We Are Family’s strategic plan.

Be an active member of the We Are Family Finance, Fundraising & Resources Committee who meet once every quarter.

Oversee presentation of budgets, internal management accounts and annual financial statements to the board of trustees.
-
Lead on the board’s duty to ensure that proper accounting records are kept, financial resources are properly controlled, invested and economically spent, in line with good governance, legal and regulatory requirements.

Lead the development and implementation of financial reserves, cost management and investment policies.
-
Monitor and advise on the financial viability of the charity.
-
Oversee the implementation of and monitoring specific financial controls and adherence to systems.
-
Oversee the charity’s financial risk management process.
-
Review and approve payments (including payroll).
-
Be the main point of contact for We Are Family’s bank.
-
Act as a counter signatory on important applications to funders.

Liaise with the appropriate member of staff responsible for the financial activities of the organisation.

Liaise with the external auditors or independent examiner on specific issues such as the auditor’s or examiner’s management letter and the related board representations.
This role would suit an individual with:

Knowledge of charity governance and management

Experience in a compliance, risk or business management role

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Organisation skills, with the ability to work to deadlines

Good IT skills, to include Zoom and Google Suite or MS Office.
Although many of our current Board members are adopters themselves, we are also keen to recruit suitably qualified people who are not, but who can demonstrate a commitment to the values and mission of We Are Family.
One of the great strengths of We Are Family is that we are volunteer and member driven, and we represent a diverse community of adoptive parents. We particularly welcome trustees from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds to ensure that the board can benefit from this diversity of experience. We would also welcome single adopters to the board.

Expenses

At Mid Norfolk Mencap we are passionate about supporting people with learning disabilities and their families. Enabling people to live independently, person-centred care is at the heart of what we do.
Our mission is to support and enable the people who use our services to lead fulfilling lives, to be involved in their local wider community, and to have access to the same opportunities as all members of society.
Mid Norfolk Mencap was established since 1977, and every year we provide residential living, social opportunities, and specialised Community Outreach support for more than 100 people with a learning disability in Norfolk. However, with around 16,500 adults in Norfolk with a learning disability, we know we can do so much more.
This is an exciting time for us as we work to grow and strengthen our services. As a trustee you will play a vital role in helping us deliver a stronger and more sustainable organisation for the benefit of our service users, their families, and for the staff who work to deliver those services.
Position: Trustee
Location: Trustee Board meetings and many of our charity’s activities take place in Dereham. In addition, some work may be required remotely using Zoom/ Teams, or in other parts of Norfolk from time to time.
Salary: This position is unpaid but reasonable expenses may be paid.
Responsibilities
This role is suited to candidates who can demonstrate professional or skills-based knowledge of benefit to the charity. We would particularly welcome applications from people with experience in the third sector, PR, fundraising, governance, risk management, management and law, and accountancy.
This job is for you if:
- You have a proven track record of integrity and respect for confidential and proprietary information.
- You are a keen and respectful listener who can empathise and respectfully challenge.

Training
You will be given a basic induction to the charity and opportunities to meet with the senior management team. We also strongly encourage trustees to spend time participating in our services delivery, getting to know our staff and volunteers – and most importantly, our beneficiaries. We will customise a training and familiarisation package for the successful candidate based on prior knowledge and experience.

What will you be doing?
The new Trustee/Treasurer is needed to give advice on the Society’s strategic plans at a time of increased uncertainty about the level of support for our national activities.

Share Community is seeking a Chair for our Board of Trustees, and up to three further Trustees to fill upcoming vacancies on our Board.
Role: Chair, Share Community
The Chair is a crucial role for Share, working closely with the Chief Executive to provide inspirational leadership, and ensure the charity delivers its mission and vision. Alongside all the other trustees the Chair will provide oversight of the Charity’s governance and strategic direction.
The Chair will be committed to reducing the social injustice faced by disabled people, and model Share’s organisational values: we’re inclusive, supportive and ambitious and work with kindness, integrity and respect.
The principal responsibilities of the Chair include:
- Leading the trustee body in ensuring that it fulfils its responsibilities for the governance of Share Community;
- Working in partnership with the Chief Executive, Executive Team and other trustees to ensure the charity delivers on its strategic and charitable objectives, vision, purpose and values;
- Ensuring that the Board reviews strategic issues, risks and opportunities on a regular basis, and can satisfy itself that systems are in place to take advantage of opportunities and mitigate risks.
Share is seeking a leader with experience at Board level as either a Trustee or Executive Director. Previous experience as a Chair is not a requirement of the role.
Role: Trustee, Share Community
Share’s trustee team has responsibility for overseeing strategy and performance. Share currently has ten trustees, and in light of some current trustees coming to the end of their term, is looking to recruit three more with the enthusiasm, skills and commitment we need to help guide Share through the next phase of its development.
Prospective Trustees must have a commitment to Share’s vision and values, and a passion for making a difference in the lives of disabled people. Share is particularly keen to encourage applications from individuals with specific experience of:
- Fundraising, particularly growing or diversifying income streams;
- Property and estates management;
