The Snow Sports Foundation is a small UK charity that helps fund life-changing snow sports opportunities for neurodivergent children and adults.

We are looking for a volunteer Treasurer to help oversee the charity's finances. This role can be undertaken either as a Trustee or as a non-trustee, depending on your preference. This will be for about 1-2 hours a month.

About the role

Working closely with the Chair and fellow volunteer Trustees, you will help ensure the charity's finances remain well managed and that the Board has the financial information needed to make informed decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor the charity's financial position and present financial updates at the quarterly online meeting (or the finance section of the meetings if appointed as a non-trustee Treasurer).
• Approve bank payments.
• Vote on funding proposals (if a Trustee).
• Co-ordinate the preparation of the charity's annual report and accounts to be audited by the independent examiner.
• Upload annual report on the Charity's Commission website.
• Ensure appropriate financial controls and financial records are maintained.
• Keep up-to-date with charity commission reporting requirements and amend finance policies and procedures as required.

Skills

• Has experience in finance and accounting.
• Has experience of preparing and compiling annual reports.
• Has experience of working as a Treasurer and working with a board of Trustees.
• Can explain financial information clearly to the Board.

MapAction is now seeking to appoint a new Chair of the Board of Trustees to succeed Nick Moody, who will step down later this year following two successful terms as Chair. The Chair will play a pivotal leadership role, working closely with the Chief Executive and Board of Trustees to ensure the effective delivery of MapAction’s mission, strategic objectives and long-term sustainability. The successful candidate will be an accomplished senior leader with experience of leading senior executive teams and/or non-executive boards. They will possess a strong understanding of governance, organisational risk and financial oversight, together with the credibility and gravitas to influence at the highest levels. Candidates should demonstrate an ability to support fundraising and stakeholder engagement activities, and a genuine commitment to the delivery of humanitarian benefit. Prior experience of the humanitarian, international development, technology, data or voluntary sectors is a distinct advantage.

The Chair will be appointed for an initial term of three years, with the option of renewal for a further term. The role is voluntary and unremunerated.

We are seeking up to 4 new Non-Executive Directors (NEDs) to join the board of Positive Money UK. Our board is a non-executive body responsible for the organisation’s vision, mission, strategic direction, finances and governance. These positions are voluntary and unremunerated. Our board meets four times per year at our office in Vauxhall, and NEDs also support the organisation via membership of occasional working groups, or in reviewing policies or other documents.

Skills and Experience

We are seeking a treasurer with strong charity financial expertise who is motivated by the opportunity to support a growing charity making a positive impact in young people’s lives. Role Description

• Ensuring that staff create sound financial instruments for the control of charity assets

• Ensuring close working relationships with the internal audit team and any Committees of the Board
• Ensuring that sound financial management is maintained and ensuring expenditure is in line with the charity’s objects
• Acting as a counter signatory on charity cheques and any applications and receipts of funding (if mandated)

• Ensuring the charity complies with legislative and regulatory requirements and acts within the confines of the Constitution and its charitable objects.
• Acting in the best interest of the charity, beneficiaries, and future beneficiaries.
• Promoting and developing the charity to help it grow and maintain its public benefit.

Ideal Background:

Fully qualified chartered accountant/financial qualifications and experience. Some experience of charity finance and fundraising.

Trustees meet regularly (virtually and occasionally in person) and contribute to board discussions, sub-committees, and strategic projects, including attending our in person meeting once a year.

About us

Batten disease is a very rare genetic disorder that affects the brain and nervous system. Symptoms sometimes begin in infancy and sometimes later in childhood, after apparently normal early development. Occasionally it may start in adulthood. In individuals suffering from Batten disease, nervous system function steadily declines, causing a wide variety of neurologic problems, including loss of vision and seizures. The life expectancy of a child born with Batten disease can vary, depending on the form of the disease and the age of onset. Some children die in early childhood, while others may be able to live into their teens or twenties.

The BDFA was registered as a charity in 2001 and our mission is “to enable children and adults who are affected by Batten disease to live life to the full and to provide families with the care and support they need so that they do not walk this path alone.” The BDFA offers informed guidance and support to families and the professionals who work with them, as well as actively raising awareness, and promoting research into the management of Batten disease to improve patient care pathways and ultimately find a cure.

Overview

The Rebuild with Hope Foundation is a fast growing and impactful charity supporting those facing barriers to work. Due to our continued growth we are looking to increase and diversify our Board membership. We are looking to appoint Trustees, no former experience is required as training will be provided. We are also looking to appoint a Treasurer a long with an experienced Chair of the Board. Role Description

Board Members are jointly and severally responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity, its financial health, probity of its activities, developing the organisation’s aims, objectives, and goals in accordance with the Constitution, legal and regulatory guidelines. All Board Members should be aware of and understand their individual and collective responsibilities and should not be overly reliant on one or more Members in any aspect of the governance of the charity.

Duties

• Ensuring the charity complies with legislative and regulatory requirements and acts within the confines of the Constitution and its charitable objects.
• Acting in the best interest of the charity, beneficiaries, and future beneficiaries.
• Promoting and developing the charity to help it grow and maintain its public benefit.
• Maintaining sound financial management and control of the charity’s resources.
• Ensuring a fully effective and appropriate system recruitment, for appointment the and monitoring of the work and activities for the CEO and Senior Management team.
• Ensuring the effective and efficient administration of the charity and its resources, striving for best practice in good governance.
• Maintaining absolute confidentiality about all aspects of Trustees’ business

We are looking for a Trustee Treasurer to join the Board of St Augustine’s Centre.

This is a voluntary role, but a vital one, helping to ensure our charity remains financially sustainable and well governed.

About St Augustine's Centre

St Augustine’s is a highly respected specialist charity working with people seeking asylum, and new refugees, who are rebuilding their lives in Calderdale. We help with advice on immigration and asylum and offer one-on-one support with welfare, housing, health, and access to wider services.

Renowned for our person-centered approach, we provide a welcoming, safe and inclusive space.  We offer English language classes, training, creative, social, sports and wellbeing activities, trips and volunteering opportunities. 

About the Trustee Treasurer role

Our current Trustee Treasurer is stepping down after more than seven years in the role. We are seeking someone with the right skills and experience to take on this important position.

Key responsibilities include:

• Acting as Company Secretary
• Filing accounts and annual returns to Companies House and the Charity Commission
• Maintaining bank accounts and mandates
• Authorising payments and overseeing movement of funds
• Ensuring compliance with our governing documents (Memorandum and Articles of Association)
• Supporting the preparation of annual accounts
• Working with the Director on budgets and forecasts
• Supporting financial systems (including QuickBooks)

Time commitment

• This is a voluntary role (reasonable expenses are paid, including travel and childcare where needed)
• 4 Board meetings per year, lasting around 2 hours each
• Meetings are usually held in person, with the option to join online
• Preparation time of around 1 hour per meeting
• Trustees also join at least one Board sub‑group, meeting 4 times a year

Overall, the commitment is approximately 8 hours per month, with flexibility depending on your availability.

Support is available for trustees whose first language is not English.

As Treasurer, you'll be the guardian of our wonderful theatre's finances. It'll be your job to keep the committee updated on the theatre's financial affairs. You'll have a full understanding of the Bookkeeper's role, and oversee their work - or, if you wish, you may volunteer for that role too (details available on request). As Treasurer, you'll prepare an annual budget for the theatre, then manage and track progress, producing quarterly reports on actual income and expenditure vs budget. You'll then produce annual accounts for presentation to the independent examiner, and the wider membership at the AGM. The role requires around 25 hours per month of your time, plus an additional commitment at year end. You'll join the board of trustees, which entails a DBS check, and you'll attend monthly committee meetings, in which you'll have the opportunity to contribute to the general running of the theatre.

Training

Over the course of several months, you'll receive a comprehensive handover from the existing Treasurer. At first, you'll shadow them to gain a full understanding of what's required, then they'll shadow you, offering as much support as you need until you're ready to take the reins.

Skills

You'll have a love of numbers (and spreadsheets!), a forensic attention to detail, and great organisational skills. You'll be good at presenting data to people who aren't as mathsy as you, and keen to join a team of friendly, passionate volunteers. This role will be a great fit for a trainee accountant looking for experience, a retiree with bookkeeping or accounting skills, or a self-proclaimed maths geek with time to spare, and a desire to be part of a wonderful community of people.
