We're looking for an Honorary Treasurer to join our valued Board of Trustees who will play a pivotal role in ensuring IPEM is well governed and complies with all financial legislation and good practice for charities. This is an exciting time to join IPEM, with an ambitious growth plan agreed for the next 5 years. 

The Honorary Treasurer chairs the Institute’s Finance and Business Planning Committee (F&BP), four meetings/year, normally held on line and is also a Trustee and Director of IPEM, attending the Board of Trustees’ four meetings/year, normally 2 in York and 2 in London. The Hon. Treasurer is a member ex officio of the Board of IPEM Enterprises Ltd, IPEM’s wholly owned trading subsidiary, which meets three times per year, usually by teleconference. The Hon Treasurer is also Chair of the IPEM Remuneration Committee which meets once a year by tele-conference.

We anticipate a commitment of 12 - 15 days per year with the meetings during the working day (9 - 5pm). 

You do not need to be a member of IPEM, though it is essential you have either senior voluntary sector finance experience or you are a qualified accountant. 

Offering your skills and time each month will give our fledgling organisation the boost it needs as we deliver our long-term strategy. Carers' Hub is an independent local charity based in Brixton. Our mission is to improve carers’ lives in Lambeth through quality services and community engagement. We achieve this through four core workstreams: raising awareness of carers, influencing local policy through community engagement activities, improving carer wellbeing and connecting carers to each other and to support and training opportunities through our services.

Caring for a loved one, family member, friend or neighbour, can have a significant impact on all aspects of a carer's own life. Our dedicated and passionate team work with carers to help overcome challenges around managing at home, finances, caring with confidence, education and employment, physical health and emotional wellbeing.

Duties:
• Support and provide advice on Smallshaw-Hurst Children's Community purpose, vision, goals and activities.

CHEM Trust seeks new Trustees to guide the charity in the next exciting stage of its growth

CHEM Trust focuses its work on preventing this pollution. We bring together science and policy to identify the chemicals that need to be controlled and the best way to do this. We collaborate closely with other environmental and health groups to drive this positive change for people and nature.

Our main area of attention is at the EU level. Even though many improvements are needed, the EU is the region that has the most effective chemicals policy system and EU regulations shape other regulatory systems around the world. We do this work in association with our German partner, CHEM Trust Europe eV, as well as EU-wide groups such as the European Environment Bureau.

We also work in the UK, to keep us closely aligned with the EU system. At the global level we work to deliver improvements to global chemicals management, inspired and informed by the work already done at the EU level.

Since 2007, we have shaped chemicals policies, and are seen as trusted partners. We have a good reputation with experts, scientists, other charities, and industry. Many of our wonderful funders recognise the unique and vital work that we do and support us year in and year out.

We have grown considerably in recent years and now employ an amazing team of 12 people in the UK and a group of experts within the EU.

With a new European Parliament and European Commission starting work this year, and with an election soon in the UK, it is vital that we keep chemical pollution high on the agenda. The PFAS ‘forever chemicals’ are getting a higher and higher profile, but these are just the tip of an iceberg of harmful chemicals.

 Artemis Studios Performing Arts Schools Limited is a Charity only Registered in March 2022, while our not-for-personal-profit organisation has been providing similar services in Bracknell since at least August 2014 and our roots go back locally to 2007. The role and what we are looking for in a new trustee

Trustees are the people who make the top-level decisions for our charity. Our Board includes people with experience and skills in performing and creative arts, and we’d expect new trustees to have empathy with our cause and our beneficiaries. 

Interest in young people, mental health support, education would be beneficial, but potential applicants do not need in-depth understanding of, or involvement in, our operational cause.

Full induction to our organisation will be provided, plus specialist support as a new trustee including access to external training.

We are a charity not a business, but we apply business principles to governing our organisation. We are looking for people from a variety of backgrounds to join our charity. Thames Valley Partnership Trading as Hope After Harm is a Buckinghamshire based registered Charity and Charitable Company Limited by Guarantee of 30 years’ operating a range of support programmes across the Thames Valley - including support for victims, support for the families of offenders, early interventions, work in the field of domestic abuse and support to offenders. With 50 staff and approximately 30 volunteers, a solid Trustee framework is essential to underpin and inform our work and our Trustees currently bring together considerable experience from criminal justice, local government, the corporate and voluntary sectors.

We now have a number of Trustee vacancies we wish to fill, to complement our existing Board and guide our successful and growing organisation into the next phase of development. We therefore seek:

About GNDR

We are the Global Network of Civil Society Organisations for Disaster Reduction (GNDR). Established in 2007, we are now a network of more than 1,800 organisations in over 130 countries. We work together to prevent hazards like floods, droughts, earthquakes and infectious diseases from becoming disasters where people lose their lives, incomes and assets. We listen to communities that are most at risk, strengthen the capacity of civil society organisations, and advocate for risk-informed development and localisation.

The day-to-day management of GNDR is carried out by a Secretariat of 32 employed staff, led by the Executive Director, currently based in Teddington, South West London, with two thirds of the staff located in regions around the world. It is a registered charity and company under UK law and has five trustees. Meetings with the GNDR Global Board of Regional Representatives occur on a quarterly basis. Trustee meetings are held online three times a year, and trustees do not have to be UK based. We are looking for an additional trustee with finance experience to join the governance of this exciting network.

Main purpose of the Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees has ultimate responsibility for directing the affairs of GNDR, ensuring it is solvent, complying with UK charity law and delivering its objectives, as detailed in GNDR’s Articles of Association.

Overall scope of the role

Each trustee member is recruited for their particular skills and perspectives and they should be proactive in supporting the Trustee Board, the Global Board and the Secretariat by using those skills. Trustees serve a minimum of three years.

Individually, trustees have the following responsibilities:

•  To be true to the values of GNDR and act as a role model while serving as a trustee.
•  To safeguard and reflect GNDR’s vision and ethos, strategy and policies at all times.
•  To build strong, collaborative working relationships with other trustees and Global Board members
•  To remain aware of the duties of a charitable trustee as outlined by the Charity Commission
•  To sign a Declaration of Interests each year
•  As appropriate, to make introductions for GNDR staff for promotional and fundraising purposes
•  As appropriate, to speak for GNDR at events, whether in-house or public, whether at GNDR’s request or on the back of the trustee’s own engagement

For this particular trustee role, we are especially keen to hear from individuals from a risk and finance background – ideally with an accounting or finance qualification.

Person Specification

Essential criteria:

• Experience of successfully dealing with strategic issues
• Sound judgement and ability to think corporately and strategically; ability to handle competing priorities and making informed decisions
• Interest in international development and relief, with a focus on disasters
• Experience of working with international accounts, risk management or fundraising

Desirable criteria:

• A good knowledge of relevant general legislation and statutory requirements, including charity law, employment law and/or health and safety law
• A thorough knowledge of financial management, accounting best practices for UK and compliance with the associated regulation
• UK-qualified Chartered Accountant
• Good networker and able to leverage professional networks in support of GNDR objectives when required, in particular for contract development and funding opportunities

Remuneration

The post is not remunerated; i.e. it is a voluntary and unpaid position.

Expenses

All out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed; this will include reimbursement of travel costs to all meetings, mobile or home telephone calls on trustee business, printing and photocopying costs at home on trustee business and all other reasonable costs incurred whilst carrying out the duties of being a GNDR trustee.

Trustees may, at their discretion and without setting any precedent for future activities, choose not to claim expenses if they wish to support the charity in this way.

GNDR will also pay for trustee indemnity insurance.

Terms of office

The term of office is three years. Trustees may serve additional terms of office, subject to agreement from the Board of Trustees.

Expected time commitment

The time commitment for this post is expected to be at approximately five days per annum plus preparation time, including attendance at all trustee meetings (three meetings per annum of 2-3 hours each) and Global Board meetings (four meetings quarterly including a three-day face-to-face meeting), and membership of one of GNDR’s working groups (either Finance and Audit or Resourcing, depending on expertise, meetings 1/4 day each, four per annum). 

Optionally, attendance at our bi-annual global summit (two days plus international travel), at trustee training events (circa one day per annum) and other one-off events, meetings and planning days as required.

GNDR will provide an induction programme for all new trustees, as well as an opportunity to meet Secretariat staff.

About Vocal Advocacy

Vocal is a small independent advocacy organisation operating in South and West Devon including Torbay, that helps adults with communication difficulties to understand and exercise their rights, make informed choices and speak up for themselves. Our main activity is one-to-one advocacy, however we also offer services including training, person centred planning and independent quality monitoring or care packages.

We have a reputation locally for the high quality of its services. We hold the national advocacy quality mark.  We may be small, but we are effective, enthusiastic and innovative. 

What will you be doing?

We are all dedicated to ensuring that the aims of the organisation are achieved and that people's rights are upheld. One of the trustees has been on the management committee, in various roles, since the organisation was founded 29 years ago. Their hard work was recognised when DeVA selected them for ‘trustee of the year winners’ at the Devon Community Foundation volunteer of the year awards ceremony. Our Board needs to encompass a wider range of skills, especially around strategic planning and marketing in order to drive the success of our development project. What are we looking for?

We are looking for passionate people to join our Board. You don't need to have a background in health and social care or in supporting people who have a learning disability, but you must share our passion for ensuring people's rights!

We particularly wish to broaden our skill base of the Board to support our Chief Officer through the development of the organisation.

Key areas are skills in income generation, strategic and business planning, marketing and communications. We would welcome a Trustee with finance/ accountancy background to take on the Treasurer role in due course.

In terms of planning for the future, our Chair would like to have a succession plan in place, should she decide to step down in a few years time, and it would be good to recruit trustees who might be interested in and be suitable future leaders for the charity.

TREASURER / TRUSTEE

Age UK Gloucestershire’s vision is to make our county the best place in the UK in which to grow older.

We are seeking a new Treasurer to join our board of trustees /directors and help us achieve our vision.

We are a small, independent Charity based in Gloucestershire with the aims to challenge negative stereotypes of ageing, create positive age-friendly communities, help older people retain a sense of purpose, and offer help and support to older people and their families.

Overview of the role:

The Treasurer supports the Board with maintaining an overview of the charity’s financial affairs, as well as fulfilling the role of a Trustee/Board Director. The Treasurer assists the Chair and the CEO in ensuring that the board of trustees fulfils its duties and responsibilities for the proper financial governance of the charity; by ensuing effective and appropriate financial measures, controls and procedures are in place, reporting to the Board at regular intervals about the financial health of the Charity.

In addition to the above, the Treasurer will also have the responsibilities and qualities of all trustees.

This is a voluntary position, but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. Our trustees service for a 3-year term of office with the potential for re-appointment for a further term to a maximum of 6 years.

· A finance professional. A knowledge of charity finance is an advantage. Otherwise, an enthusiasm to learn, drawing from sound commercial experience and an understanding of SMEs.

You’ll need to be able to commit to attending six board meetings a year, as well as the potential for some further working group. As treasurer you will play a vital role in the financial management of Borderline Support UK CIC. You will be responsible for overseeing the organisations finances, including budgets and accounts, and monitoring the organisations financial health, with our management team's support. 

As a key member of the board of trustees, you will also be involved in setting the charity's strategic direction and ensuring that it is run in a compliant and efficient manner. 

It is expected that the treasurer will attend monthly meetings and the annual AGM.

About Kids Inspire

Kids Inspire was founded in 2007 by our Chief Executive, Sue Bell OBE, to fill gaps in mental health provision for children and young people. Today, Kids Inspire has a track record of success, providing specialist mental health services for children, young people and families.

We have a highly ambitious executive team and an engaged board of trustees. Together, we are determined and driven to make a sustainable difference in the lives of children, young people, and families by ensuring they get the support they need to recover from trauma and thrive.

We provide a range of therapeutic and community services which are suited to each child’s needs. Our holistic specialist services empower children, young people and their families affected by trauma or negative experiences to make positive choices and reclaim their lives.

Our services are informed by the latest developments in research and practice of neuroscience, trauma, and therapy. We believe the best outcomes are achieved when the adults around the child are included in the support, keeping the child at the centre.

Uniquely, therefore, since our inception we have provided ‘family inclusive’ specialist services to children and young people affected by negative experiences or trauma. This approach is one of the critical differentiators that enable us to make a positive impact in young people’s lives.

We are experiencing ever-increasing demands for mental health support. As a society, we are navigating post-pandemic challenges alongside the cost-of-living crisis and its effects.

The global uncertainty puts pressure on everyone, and we know children and young people are sensitive to the well-being and emotional capacity of their parents and/or adults who care for them.

Alongside this, we have seen an increase in the complexity of how our young people present and what concerns them. We need to ensure young people have access to support as we face an emerging and growing mental health crisis.

We know that children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds have, on average, weaker social and emotional learning skills at all ages than their peers. This is linked to poor mental health, lower academic attainment, and poorer employment outcomes. However, evidence suggests that developing social and emotional skills can improve young people’s lives.

A recent partnership with Impetus who supports and funds ‘high potential charities,’ has enabled us to reflect on and refine our theory of change and create a rigorous and robust strategy for the next three years of growth. The partnership also gave us access to pro bono support from Bain and Company who pressure-tested our strategy and created a comprehensive implementation plan which is already underway.

We work across Essex and are rapidly growing into Thurrock and Suffolk, with ambitious plans to continue to grow sustainably and have a bigger impact on the lives of children and young people.

We are on the cusp of our next stage of development, from local charity to countrywide provider, and, as we embark on our new business plan, this is a great time to join and lead our board as Chair.

About the role

As our current Chair, Simon Carpenter, is due to step down later this year, we are looking for a new Chair to lead our board at this pivotal time of growth, scaling and development for our organisation.

Our new Chair will:

• Bring governance experience and strong commercial acumen, with entrepreneurial experience in scaling and growing organisations.
• Together with our Chief Executive, Sue Bell, help to develop and drive our strategy, creating a bigger impact.
• Have experience leading organisations through growth and change and bringing a business focus.
• Understand the distinctive culture of the charity sector.
• Challenge and support our board and executive team alongside a strategic, open, calm, diplomatic and inclusive approach.
• Join our ambitious and engaged board and collaborate with the executive team to ensure our organisation grows sustainably.
• Share our vision and values and have a passion for supporting children’s and young people’s mental health and well-being.

We want to ensure that all voices are heard across our organisation, and our Chair will work closely with our Chief Executive and team to ensure that young people are at the core of how we work.

Trustee Role

 The Developers Club Foundation is seeking dedicated individuals to join our existing Board of Trustees, which consists of 6 individuals. As a not-for-profit organisation, we are committed to supporting the housing and professional development of young adults at risk of long-term youth homelessness. We believe that providing quality accommodation and mentorship can be life-changing for generations to come.

 Role Description:

As a Trustee, you will play a vital role in guiding the strategic direction of The Developers Club Foundation. You will be responsible for ensuring the effective governance and financial stability of the organisation, as well as overseeing the implementation of our charitable initiatives.

 Key Responsibilities:

- Attend fortnightly board meetings and contribute actively to discussions during the setup phase. Meetings will transition to quarterly once the setup phase is complete.

- Provide guidance and oversight on the organisation's strategic direction.

- Review and approve budgets, financial reports, and fundraising plans.

- Support the fundraising efforts of the organisation.

- Act as an ambassador for the organisation and promote its mission and values.

Skills and Experience:

We are looking for individuals with a passion for social impact and a commitment to our cause. Ideal candidates will have expertise in one or more of the following areas:

- Housing or homelessness support

- Fundraising and financial management

- Legal or governance

- Marketing and communications

- Youth development
