Worcestershire Wildlife Trust is seeking a new Honorary Treasurer to join our Council of Trustees.

We are Worcestershire’s leading nature conservation charity, committed to protecting wildlife and the natural environment. We are supported by over 21,000 individual members. Our 40 staff are supported by our 500 volunteers who are vital to the delivery of our work. We manage 75+ nature reserves across the county, covering 12.5 square kilometres of land, and provide land management advice across around a quarter of the county. We also work to inspire people to take action for nature and this includes work with schools and young people, communities and local businesses.

Our three goals set out in our strategy to 2030 are:

• Nature in recovery: 30% of land for nature by 2030

We are looking for an Honorary Treasurer to join our board of Trustees to develop and maintain a solid understanding of the Trust’s finances and to be the lead on the Council for financial matters. The treasurer ensures that effective and appropriate measures, controls and procedures are put in place and reports to the Council at regular intervals about the financial health of the organisation.

We are now recruiting a Volunteer Trustee with expertise in property or estate management to help guide our strategic development.

What the role involves

Alongside the standard duties of a trustee, you’ll take a focused role in shaping and overseeing the development of our 15-acre site, which includes a wide range of specialist buildings and facilities.
Your insight will help us:

• Refurbish and repurpose buildings

• Make best use of our physical assets

• Identify opportunities to generate income for the charity

• Plan for long-term site development and sustainability

This role would suit someone with experience in building, surveying, estates or property development.

Our Board meets seven times a year and trustees are also welcome (but not required) to attend events and celebrations. While in-person attendance is encouraged, some meetings can be joined online. Travel expenses are covered, and overnight accommodation can be arranged for trustees outside Devon.

The relief of immigrants, asylum seekers and refugees who are suffering hardship or distress or in need, particularly, but not exclusively, in the City of Portsmouth, by the provision of financial and other assistance and raising the awareness of the general public.

The Treasurer is a voluntary role that ensures the financial health and accountability of Friends Without Borders. The role combines strategic oversight, advice and hands-on financial management. Between our Client Services Manager and volunteer Bookkeeper, spreadsheets relating to petty cash, income and expenditure are prepared. Our Treasurer will be responsible for payroll, pension payments and tax returns.

What are we looking for?

Essential

• Professional accounting or finance qualification, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with financial systems and controls, ideally but not essentially in a charity or small organisation.
• Understanding of budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning.

Desirable

• Familiarity with charity financial regulations, Gift Aid, restricted funds and statutory reporting.

We are seeking a proactive, strategic, and mission-aligned Funding Manager to join our growing team. This pivotal role will lead on identifying, applying for, and managing multiple streams of funding to support the delivery and expansion of our work. As a small charity with big impact, funding is vital to everything we do — from running support services to delivering education and campaigning for change. The Funding Manager will be at the heart of ensuring our sustainability and growth by securing the resources we need. You will be line managed by the Chair of Trustees, and work closely with the Treasurer and other trustees as needed to complete applications, manage current funding applications and report on grant outcomes.
 

What are the key responsibilities of this role?

This role will have the following duties, but are not limited to:

• Identify and research suitable funding opportunities from trusts, foundations, statutory bodies, and other grant-makers

• Lead and coordinate the writing and submission of compelling funding bids, applications, and proposals.

• Manage and track existing grants, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements and deadlines.

• Work with trustees (e.g. Treasurer and Chair) to gather financial and impact data for applications and reports.

• Maintain a funding pipeline and reporting calendar, ensuring visibility of all application stages and deadlines.

• Build and maintain relationships with funders, providing updates on Hidayah’s work and impact.

• Monitor trends in the funding landscape and keep the charity informed of relevant changes and opportunities.

• Advise and support the Board in developing a long-term funding strategy.

• To maintain clear records on the organisation’s shared systems (Google Drive).

• Meet regularly e.g. monthly or bi-monthly with your line manager to discuss funding applications and progress

Who we are looking for

We’re seeking two trustees who each bring distinct strengths. The first should have experience in safeguarding, ideally gained through work with volunteers, or in community settings. You could have a background in adult and children’s services, care, or service delivery organisations that utilise volunteers at scale.

You’ll provide board-level oversight of our safeguarding and ensure best practice in policies and legal considerations.

The second trustee should bring grant-making experience, preferably with an understanding of how fundraising and grants work together in a charitable context. Time Commitment

• Act as branch specialist to compliance animal welfare across the branch.

• Appreciate and support the aims and policies of the RSPCA.
• Work in conjunction with fellow trustees and branch officers and jointly act in making decisions for the best interest of the branch and the RSPCA.

• Take the lead on matters relating to community outreach:
• Establish connections with the local community.
• Help the Branch determine what the local animal welfare need is.
• Where there are opportunities for improvements in animal welfare.
• Assist the Branch in setting strategies to tackle the identified animal welfare needs of the Branch area.
• Work closely with other organisations (other welfare charities, other welfare providers, vets etc) to develop mutually beneficial partnership opportunities.

This is an exciting opportunity to be a hands-on charity Trustee, helping to prevent animal cruelty, promote kindness to all animals and shape the future of our animal charity. We are planning to add three new Trustees to our committee. We are particularly seeking people skilled in any of the following areas:

• Marketing and social media to foster engagement and donations
• Retail – both traditional and online to diversify our revenue streams
• Fundraising, including corporate fundraising, sponsorship or grants
• Volunteer recruitment and development

About us

RSPCA South West London Branch is an independent charity based in Wandsworth, South West London. We operate a small animal welfare and rehoming operation. To fund our charitable activities, we operate two charity shops and an online shop. We employ 8 people.

Overview of opportunity

As a Trustee, you will serve on the governing committee of the charity. This committee oversees the running of the branch and sets out its short- and long-term goals. It is responsible for making decisions in the best interest of the branch, ensuring we are carrying out our charitable objectives, complying with our governing document and the law, and managing our resources responsibly. The committee meets monthly (online) for 1-1 1/2 hours.

As we are a small charity, some Trustees take the lead on specific areas, either on a project- or ongoing basis and many of our Trustees help with, for example, events, fundraising, the shops or rehoming activities.

What we are looking for

We are looking for people from all social and cultural backgrounds, with experience and skills in any of the areas outlined above and who are committed to the RSPCA’s charitable objective and share our passion for animal welfare. You would be creative, innovative, bring a fresh perspective and be able to put ideas into action. Experience as a charity trustee, committee chair or board chair is highly desirable.

Practical considerations

• You will need to be 18 of over
• Trustees typically serve a three-year term
• The position is unpaid but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.

• References will be required.

We are already demonstrating how this would work on the ground in our grassroots community action group. We believe we can use this to inspire people and businesses and ultimately government to introduce the same mechanism to reach science-based emission reduction targets on a national basis.

What will you be doing?

We are currently completely volunteer-led, agile, pragmatic and ambitious. We would like to build up our trustee board with trustees who are keen to help drive EcoCounts forward through active involvement in what is an exciting time to get involved.

Our goal for the next 12 months is:

• to continue building our local group of activists from all sections of society who monitor their carbon and ecological footprints

• to run a crowd-funder in spring 2026

• to create a carbon footprint app to fulfil our requirements

• to extend our audience in the media and social media

• to build relationships and new, innovative ways of collaborating with local businesses and local government

• to create a blueprint which can be adopted in other locations

We want to spread the movement far and wide, to promote public, business, academic and political acceptance of carbon budgets, carbon trading and our Carbon Accounts approach by demonstrating how and why the concepts work and represent a potentially break-through approach to the climate crisis.

What are we looking for?

We’re looking for someone to jump right in with our small and dynamic team to provide guidance, energy and insight to help us develop. We’re looking to fill two distinct trustee roles: governance lead and fundraising lead. When applying, please let us know which you interests you.

Governance Lead

Do you have experience with:

• charity governance

• policy creation and management

• strategy development combining marketing, fundraising, volunteer management and finance & business planning

Fundraising Lead

• significant fundraising experience in either grant applications, online subscriptions, crowdfunders, corporate giving or philanthropy from high net worth individuals

• working with volunteer fundraisers to help build or even lead the team, monitor progress, coach or mentor where necessary

• enthusiasm to get stuck into the work yourself

• all-round awareness of business plans, marketing campaigns and volunteer management, to be able to contribute to strategy and direction

In Both

• you’ll need an awareness of the serious nature of the crisis and the need for radical action by governments, i.e. a strong desire to see society make an urgent response to climate change

• ability to work online, in person, in different environments with different types of people

• consistency and good communication on instant messaging channels, emails and other

• co-operative nature and appreciation for exchange of ideas, flexibility and openness to feedback

• ability to understand our Carbon Accounts concept, which is not difficult but does have extensive impacts

• free some Monday evenings for our in-person meetings

As our Volunteer Treasurer, you’ll play a vital strategic role in ensuring PEDS can continue to grow, remain sustainable, and reach more people affected by eating disorders.

Personalised Eating Disorder Support (PEDS) is the UK’s first and only nurse-led eating disorder charity. We provide early intervention, personalised support, training and advocacy for individuals, families and professionals. Demand for our services has grown rapidly, and strong financial governance is critical to helping us respond safely and sustainably.

The Role

We are seeking a committed and values-driven Volunteer Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees. This is a key governance role, offering the opportunity to use your financial skills to support a high-impact charity at an exciting stage of development.

Working closely with the Chair, CEO, Service Manager and Board, you will provide oversight of the charity’s financial health, help guide strategic decision-making, and ensure appropriate controls and reporting are in place.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the financial affairs of the charity and ensure they are conducted responsibly and transparently

• Support the monitoring of budgets, forecasts and financial plans

• Present clear financial reports to the Board, highlighting risks, opportunities and trends

Our partner promotes access to specialist reconstructive surgical care and professional training in low income countries through volunteer led programmes that build local capacity and improve patient outcomes worldwide.

They are seeking a Treasurer to join the Board and strengthen financial oversight as the organisation works to simplify its accounting processes and manage expenditure more efficiently. The role involves reviewing systems, supporting financial planning and reporting, and ensuring compliance with charity regulations.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience in charity finance or audit. The ability to communicate clearly with non-finance trustees and to recommend practical, proportionate improvements will be key.

The Board meets remotely, with one in-person meeting each year in London. The expected commitment is around two to three hours per week, with occasional peaks around Finance Sub-Committee meetings.
