Job description

If you're as passionate as we are in ensuring our volunteers and regional branch representatives are effectively supported and recognised in “unlocking the future”, delivering activities in line with the IOP strategy, and promoting physics across their local communities and want to inspire others to help make it happen, then join us.

As a Branch Support Coordinator will focus on supporting Branch committees to deliver a programme of events; provide consistent levels of administration support to local branch committees, and support the development of a consistent and positive volunteer experience in the development of toolkits and ad-hoc projects.

The role

This role supports the work of IOP Branch network in England. The role provides a point of contact for volunteers in each Branch. Each role has responsibility to ensure that Branch Committee members have a worthwhile and consistent experience. Supporting activities led and delivered by our active members within each Branch in line with the IOP strategic goals and campaign aims, ensuring effective administrative and logistical support, providing and sharing best practice to ensure the IOP recruits, inducts, manages and celebrates volunteering. This is a 18 month fixed term contract.

We want to ensure that volunteers are supported and enabled to use their skills, time and experience in a way that creates real impact and provides a positive and meaningful experience for them. And, that staff feel empowered to work alongside volunteers and benefit from the value that they bring.

The person

We are looking for people with a proven track record of and passion for supporting and coordinating volunteer led committees. You will have excellent administrative skills and be able to demonstrate great, diplomatic written and spoken communication skills. You will be able to build and maintain relationships of trust and respect across the physics community and beyond.

You will have understanding of the motivations and opportunities of working with volunteers. You will share good practice to and from your region, especially around volunteer led events and activities. Therefore, a good knowledge of event management and marketing tools for volunteers would be really helpful. You must be able to plan ahead and work on multiple projects at the same time to ensure a full programme of activities is delivered on time.
