This pivotal role will shape our voice as a growing national charity, leading communications and marketing activity across the organisation and with an exciting range of partners.
Working collaboratively across the organisation and with external partners, the postholder will protect our brand integrity and ensure our messaging is clear, ethical and impactful. They will help amplify the voices of people experiencing hygiene poverty and strengthen engagement with volunteers, community partners, supporters and the public who share our mission to end hygiene poverty. This is a varied, creative and meaningful role at the heart of our mission to ensure everyone has access to the hygiene essentials they need.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Communications Plan and Content Creation
-
Develop and deliver the annual communications and marketing plan, working with senior leadership to align activity with organisational priorities.
-
Plan, create and manage high-quality written, visual and multimedia content across media, social media, newsletters, presentations, speeches and campaign collateral.

Ensure all communications are accurate, impactful and consistent with The Hygiene Bank’s mission, values, tone of voice and brand guidelines.

Translate complex or sensitive issues around hygiene poverty into compelling stories that engage supporters and partners.

Provide strategic communications support for key campaigns and partnerships, including National Hygiene Week, fundraising campaigns and work with partners such as Boots, Unilever and smol.

Oversee approval processes, brand resources and organised filing systems for communications materials.
2. Digital Strategy and Implementation

Lead digital planning, delivery and maintenance across the website, email, social media and digital campaigns.

Manage digital advertising activity, including paid social, Google Ads and SEO, ensuring activity is effective and delivers strong return on investment.

Oversee analytics, reporting and insight-driven optimisation, using performance data to guide your own work and the work of the Communications Officer.
3. Ambassadors and Influencers

Build and nurture relationships with ambassadors, influencers and public supporters.

4. Events and Campaigns

EXPERIENCE

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Advocacy After Fatal Domestic Abuse (AAFDA) is a well-established and respected national charity offering specialist and expert advocacy and peer support to families bereaved by fatal domestic abuse. We have an exciting opportunity to build upon and grow our fundraising success to date, in the role ofFundraising and Grants Manager. We are seeking an experienced fundraising professional, with the drive and determination to manage all aspects of our fundraising function.
AAFDA is currently funded by statutory bodies, trusts and foundations, corporates, events and individuals. Under your management, you will identify, cultivate and grow these existing and new fundraising streams.As AAFDA’s Fundraising and Grants Manager, you will be responsible for oversight and growth of voluntary and statutory funding income, including from individuals (regular and one-off gifts, major donors and legacy giving), community groups, trusts and foundations, corporates, the statutory sector (including Police and Crime Commissioners) and other benefactors. Starting from a strong foundation with multiple opportunities for growth, you will lead on the delivery of our ambitious, multi-year, multi-disciplinary fundraising strategy with an annual fundraising plan agreed with senior management. With keen funder and customer awareness, you will regularly monitor and review both the plan and the strategy, in addition to working closely with our Finance Manager to manage diverse income streams and achieve income targets to fund AAFDA’s unique support and advocacy work with families bereaved by fatal domestic abuse. Holding responsibility for maintaining and developing the website and building social media programmes, you will undertake an ambassadorial approach in all activity to assist our CEO and Director of Services to lead and manage the AAFDA brand and corporate identity, with a focus on generating earned income, by extending awareness of what AAFDA does and how successful we are.
This is a permanent role, subject to funding, but we will work hard (alongside you!) to secure this.

The Role
We are seeking a creative, organised and audience-focused Social Media Officer to help myaware develop a more coordinated, consistent and effective social media presence.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in how myaware reaches, supports and engages people affected by myasthenia, as well as families, carers, supporters, fundraisers, healthcare professionals and the wider public. The role will help move myaware’s social media activity from a reactive, team-by-team approach to a more planned and strategic function that supports awareness, fundraising, professional services, membership growth, community engagement and brand consistency.
Working closely with the IT and Digital Communications Manager, Fundraising, Professional Services and colleagues across the organisation, you will help plan, create, schedule and evaluate social media content across myaware’s channels. You will support the development of a social media content calendar, create clear and engaging copy, produce accessible and brand-aligned graphics, and help teams turn their knowledge, updates and campaign activity into content that works for myaware’s audiences.
You will also support the development of reusable templates, clearer content processes, social media reporting, and appropriate use of tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud and AI-assisted content creation. The role will involve helping myaware make stronger use of formats such as posts, carousels, Stories, Reels, short-form video, polls and direct-message-led campaign activity, while ensuring content remains accurate, sensitive, accessible and appropriate for a health charity.
The Social Media Officer will be predominantly home based within the UK, with occasional travel required. The role will work collaboratively across myaware to support awareness activity, fundraising campaigns, events, community engagement, professional services, membership activity and wider digital communications.
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone with experience creating social media content for an organisation, charity, campaign, community group or similar setting. You will be confident writing clear and engaging copy for different audiences, using social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, YouTube or similar, and creating or adapting simple graphics using tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud or equivalent.
You will understand how social media can support awareness, fundraising, services, membership and community engagement, and you will be able to plan and organise content across multiple priorities. You will have a good eye for clarity, accessibility, tone and brand consistency, and be comfortable working with colleagues across different teams to turn ideas into effective social media content.
We are particularly interested in someone who is creative but practical, organised and reliable, warm in their communication style, and sensitive when working with health-related or personal content. You do not need to know everything about myasthenia before applying, but you should be willing to learn about the condition and the needs of people affected by it.
Experience in a charity, health, disability, community or membership organisation would be useful, as would experience supporting fundraising or event promotion through social media, creating Stories, Reels or carousel content, using analytics to improve content planning, or supporting campaigns and awareness activity.

We are working hard to raise awareness of myasthenia, as it is a little-known condition. We provide support for people with myasthenia and their families, whilst offering advice and tips for living with the condition.
We also fund the research that brings us closer to finding a cure as well as funding specialists nurses and advisors.

The myasthenias are a group of neuromuscular conditions. They are rare but also manageable and can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender or nationality. Myasthenia gravis, ocular myasthenia and Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome are autoimmune conditions whereas congenital myasthenic syndrome is caused by an inherited genetic fault. It is thought that there are approximately 20,000 people currently living with myasthenia in the UK.

· Experience developing original visual content for long and short-form formats across website, social media and supporter communications.Experience taking content from first idea through filming, editing and final delivery.

· Identifying audience-focused creative approaches that meet strategic objectives and strengthen the brand.Experience of commissioning and managing external creative suppliers, including briefing and contract compliance.
· Experience repurposing content into different formats, including cutdowns, key moments, series content, captions and social-first edits.
· A portfolio or examples of work showing strong visual storytelling across a range of formats, audiences and creative approaches.
