About the job role
An exciting opportunity as a Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist has arisen to join the Therapies Service at St Joseph’s Hospice in Hackney. You will work as part of committed and creative team, which offers innovative therapeutic interventions and support to people with specialist palliative and end life care needs.
The Therapies team works in collaboration with other clinical professionals and volunteers across all areas of the service; inpatient, outpatient and community. This role involves the provision of rehabilitative palliative care and non-pharmacological symptom management for patients with life-limiting illness to optimise their independence and maximise their quality of life.
About you
We are looking for:
- Highly developed clinical skills necessary to tailor and adapt therapeutic interventions across a complex patient caseload.
- Experience of multi-disciplinary working in an inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation settings.
- Skilled in the management of respiratory, neurological, musculoskeletal, and oncological conditions.
- Confident leadership, line management and clinical supervision skills.

St Joseph's Hospice was founded in 1905 by the Religious Sisters of Charity and as such it has a rich, Catholic heritage which informs our work today: to support and welcome those in need, from all different cultures, religions and backgrounds.
We provide high-quality specialist palliative care for patients with cancer and other life-threatening conditions across East and North London. We have a large team of clinical staff who work across community, in-patient and out-patient services delivering individualised, responsive and holistic support to patients and their families/carers.

The Latin American Women’s Rights Service (LAWRS) is a human rights, feminist organisation led by and for Latin American migrant women in the UK. Our work is dedicated to supporting the immediate and long-term needs of Latin American migrant women exposed to violations of their fundamental human rights; facing violence against women and girls, exploitation or trafficking; enduring difficult living and working conditions in low paid jobs and facing barriers to social protection. We strive to provide essential tools for women to empower themselves in their pursuit of personal and social change.
The post holder will join our Counselling and Psychotherapy team, providing emotional support sessions, clinical assessments and one-to-one short term therapy to Latin American women; delivering group work activities and psychoeducational workshops; and dealing with internal and external referrals, working closely with other teams at LAWRS and external agencies.
This post is open to Latin American women only* in accordance with the Equality Act 2010. We particularly welcome applications from disabled and LGBTQ+ candidates as they are currently underrepresented within the team.
