We are seeking a proactive, strategic, and mission-aligned Funding Manager to join our growing team. This pivotal role will lead on identifying, applying for, and managing multiple streams of funding to support the delivery and expansion of our work. As a small charity with big impact, funding is vital to everything we do — from running support services to delivering education and campaigning for change. The Funding Manager will be at the heart of ensuring our sustainability and growth by securing the resources we need. You will be line managed by the Chair of Trustees, and work closely with the Treasurer and other trustees as needed to complete applications, manage current funding applications and report on grant outcomes.
What are the key responsibilities of this role?
This role will have the following duties, but are not limited to:

Identify and research suitable funding opportunities from trusts, foundations, statutory bodies, and other grant-makers

Lead and coordinate the writing and submission of compelling funding bids, applications, and proposals.

Manage and track existing grants, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements and deadlines.

Work with trustees (e.g. Treasurer and Chair) to gather financial and impact data for applications and reports.

Maintain a funding pipeline and reporting calendar, ensuring visibility of all application stages and deadlines.

Build and maintain relationships with funders, providing updates on Hidayah’s work and impact.

Monitor trends in the funding landscape and keep the charity informed of relevant changes and opportunities.

Advise and support the Board in developing a long-term funding strategy.

To maintain clear records on the organisation’s shared systems (Google Drive).

Meet regularly e.g. monthly or bi-monthly with your line manager to discuss funding applications and progress

To check and respond to funding application emails promptly and within deadlines set for funding applications

How much commitment is required?
This is a voluntary role with flexible hours, and can be carried out around your existing commitments. We are results-focused, so while you have autonomy over when you volunteer, we ask that funding bids and key deadlines are met in a timely and reliable manner.

Newport Citizens Advice provides free advice services to thousands of people of every year
We are seeking Trustees, particularly those with experience in income generation, finance, leadership/governance, change management, and communications.
What will you be doing?
As a trustee you will have an essential role in supporting the organisation at a time of many exciting and challenging developments
We are in the process of securing new accommodation with the intention of moving to newly designed and refurbished premises for the whole organisation within the next year.
We are also currently developing new services in immigration - the first of their kind in any Citizens Advice organisation in Wales and we are also developing new services in housing and homelessness.
Our partnership work is also a key area for further development as we move towards delivering more and more services collaboratively.
Our governance structure consists of a Trustee Board and sub-committees for finance and personnel and for performance, risk and compliance. Trustee input is also encouraged in the Research and Campaigns Group, Health and Safety Committee and throughout the annual Business Development and Planning process.
What are we looking for?
Each individual member of the trustee board brings skills and qualities to the board. They add to the collective knowledge and experience by providing:

Before you apply

What you will be doing

Strategy and Governance
- Act as a full member of the Board of Trustees, contributing to the overall governance, strategy, and direction of the charity.
- Provide oversight and assurance of the charity’s finances and risk management.
- Liaise with auditors and independent examiners as required.
- Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, including the Charity Commission and funders.
Financial Oversight and Management
- Oversee the charity’s financial strategy, budgets, cash flow, investments, and reserves.
- Work with the Executive Team (CEO and Deputy CEO) to monitor and review financial performance across multiple departments.
- Lead on the review of management accounts, annual reports, and audited financial statements before Board approval.
- Advise the Board on financial implications of strategic decisions, investment opportunities, and risk management.
- Ensure the charity’s accounting systems, particularly Xero, are effectively utilised for accurate reporting and transparency.
Support and Guidance
- Provide professional guidance and mentorship to Executive Team and the Finance and Operations team.
- Support the development of robust financial controls, policies, and procedures.
- Provide appropriate challenge and scrutiny to the Senior Leadership Team, ensuring sound financial decision-making that aligns with the charity’s objectives.

Volunteer: The PR Officer of Hidayah plays a vital role in raising the profile of the organisation. The PR Officer will take the lead in managing relationships with external media, agencies, and partners to help Hidayah achieve its strategic aims. The PR officer will work closely with the Chair and two digital trustees, and focus on increasing visibility, strengthening our public image, and supporting advocacy through effective communication.

About the role
We are seeking two exceptional individuals to strengthen our governance structure at a time of significant opportunity and change.
- Trustee and Chair of Programmes & Partnerships Committee
This role combines membership of our Federation Board with chairing one of our key committees. The Programmes & Partnerships Committee oversees Groundwork UK’s work to increase our visibility and credibility, build national relationships with government, business and charitable funders, and manage programmes that add value to local delivery while directly supporting communities through grants.
This position requires someone who can navigate the complex dynamics of our federated structure while providing strategic oversight of our national income generation, communications and programme management activities.
- Co-opted Finance & Risk Committee Member
This specialised role focuses on the systems and processes that underpin everything we do at Groundwork UK.
We need someone who understands the strategic risks and opportunities associated with data utilisation, digital technology, AI and management information systems, particularly in the context of public sector transformation. This isn’t about developing systems, but about governing them effectively and helping us maximise benefits and minimise risks. The role may develop into full board membership should the individual also wish to join the Federation Board as a Trustee.
Who we are looking for
For the Trustee and Chair of Programmes & Partnerships Committee, we need someone with senior experience in voluntary sector fundraising, income generation, communications or campaigning. You will have worked at a strategic level in a charity or similar organisation, understanding the complexities of building relationships with diverse funders, from government departments to major foundations to corporate partners. Your experience might include developing or overseeing funding strategies, managing stakeholder relationships, overseeing communications campaigns, or leading programme development initiatives.
For the Co-opted Finance & Risk Committee Member position, we are looking for someone with experience of systems management in complex organisational environments, potentially in the public sector or with experience in organisations serving public purposes. You might be someone who has worked in transformation, IT management, service digitisation, AI or similar contexts where systems must serve both internal efficiency needs and external public access requirements.
You don’t need to be a technology specialist, but you should understand the governance challenges that arise. This includes cybersecurity risks, data protection obligations, business continuity planning, and the challenge of making informed decisions about technology investments.
Both roles require individuals who are invested in Groundwork’s mission of creating a fair and green future where people, places and nature thrive. You should be someone who can see the connections between social and environmental challenges and who believes in the power of community-led solutions.
- Time Commitment
Both roles operate on a quarterly meeting cycle, with board meetings and committee meetings alternating throughout the year. For the Trustee and Chair of Programmes & Partnerships Committee, this typically involves attending four Federation Board meetings and four committee meetings annually, plus preparation time and occasional ad hoc consultations. We estimate this at the equivalent of up to a day a month.
For the Co-opted Finance & Risk Committee Member position, the commitment would initially be lighter, focused on quarterly committee meetings with associated preparation. This could grow if you choose to take on board membership and attend the Federation Board meetings which are held quarterly.
We meet during weekday daytimes, alternating between in-person sessions in Birmingham and online meetings.

What will you be doing?

Communications Lead Trustee responsibilities:
- To work alongside the Treasurer, Chief Executive Officer and the rest of the Board to plan what level of funds are required to be generated to ensure the effective running of the charity

- To help promote the organisation to a wider audience of potential funders and beneficiaries
- To ensure the food bank has appropriate procedures to: comply with current legislation and good practice; including employment, health and safety, equal opportunities, safeguarding & GDPR compliance/data protection etc.

Her Centre is seeking a Treasurer to enable the future of our organisation, along with
our excellent board of trustees. This opportunity will involve working closely with the
Board Chair, the Board of Trustees, the CEO, and the Head of Finance. The
Treasurer will drive change and ensure that our vital work continues to support every
woman in Greenwich who needs us. You will be joining a dedicated board that
includes expertise from across the private and charitable sectors, the local authority,

Our Work:
Greenwich has one of the highest rates of domestic abuse in London. Last year
alone, over 4,000 domestic offences were recorded in the borough: a shocking 35%
higher than the London average. Demand for our services has risen sharply: in 2017,
we received 321 acute high-risk referrals but by last year, this had more than
doubled to 780. The most common form of abuse reported is physical violence
(62%), followed by controlling and coercive behaviour (46%). However, the sad
reality is that many women face multiple and overlapping forms of abuse, including
sexual abuse and rape, threats to their children, financial control, and forced
imprisonment.
Last year, Her Centre supported nearly 1,000 women to find safety, seek justice, and
rebuild their lives. We also help children who witness abuse recover from trauma and
support teenagers facing exploitation or violence to recognise unhealthy
relationships and build self-worth. Her Centre is a safe and welcoming space where
all women are listened to and believed in an environment of trust and respect.

The Board Treasurer is responsible for advising the board on its financial

oversees annual budget planning and contributes to risk and operational plans. The

3. Acts in the HER Centre’s best interest

• Oversee the HER Centre’s finances to ensure its regulatory and legal

Overview of opportunity
As a Trustee, you will serve on the governing committee of the charity. This committee oversees the running of the branch and sets out its short- and long-term goals. It is responsible for making decisions in the best interest of the branch, ensuring we are carrying out our charitable objectives, complying with our governing document and the law, and managing our resources responsibly. The committee meets monthly (online) for 1-1 1/2 hours.
