Our school serves children and young people with neurodisability leading to lifelong and life-limiting complex health needs, creating profound and complex barriers to learning. We are currently exploring the strategic place and future of our school, which makes this an ideal time for an education professional to join our Board and help chart a new future for this vital service. With this, we’re seeking an exceptional Trustee with education expertise to help guide us through this transformational phase.

About the role

We have made a number of key appointments to the Board and senior leadership team in the last 12-18 months, including a new Chair and Chief Executive. With some of our longest serving Trustees approaching the end of their terms, we are looking to make further appointments to our Board and committees to bring fresh, external perspective, challenge and leadership.

We are seeking an individual with education experience to join our Board and strengthen the voice of education expertise as we look to the future of our school and the exciting opportunities it presents. This appointment will help ensure our Board has the specialist knowledge needed to support our ‘Outstanding’ school and its continued development.

Who we are looking for

We are interested in hearing from professionals from the education sector who have had senior-level experience and who have a good understanding of SEND, and school organisations and structures. This could be from a variety of different environments and sectors such as schools, multi academy trusts, special schools, local authority and/or central government or regulation. While experience in special education is important, we are primarily seeking someone with a broad education expertise who understands the wider education system. Experience in commissioning or setting up new special academies or MATs would be particularly valuable. We are looking for someone with an understanding and experience of safeguarding, particularly for children with SEND, alongside their broader education expertise.

We are looking for a Trustee who aligns with our mission and is genuinely excited by our work with children with brain injury and neurodisability. You’ll be joining a Board that’s been significantly

refreshed over the past two years. We’re particularly committed to increasing diversity on our Board and would be especially pleased to hear from candidates with lived experience of brain injury, neurodisability, disability or neurodiversity, those from diverse ethnic backgrounds, lower socio-economic backgrounds, or who identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ communities.

• Time Commitment

Our board typically meets 6 times a year, including our annual strategy away day, and committees typically meet 4-6 times annually. Outside of the formal meeting schedule, it is likely that additional time will be needed for relationship building and ad hoc discussions with the executive team and fellow board members.

Board meetings take place in person at our Tadworth site in Surrey, and we have a strong preference for in-person attendance to maximise engagement and relationship building, though we maintain some flexibility for online participation in certain circumstances. The Education Committee meets throughout the year, usually in person.

Become a champion for those unable to live with their birth parents – become a trustee   

We are looking for an exceptional person to join Adoption UK’s Board of Trustees.  We are looking for someone based in Northern Ireland with financial experience.

Adoption UK is the leading charity providing support, community, and advocacy for those who are unable live with their birth parents. Our purpose is to secure the right support at the right time for children and young people who are unable to live with their birth parents, from childhood into adulthood.   

As a UK wide charity, we aim to have representation on our Board from all constituent nations, and across a variety of backgrounds and lived experience. At this time, we are particularly looking to appoint someone from Northern Ireland with financial expertise. Lived experience would be desirable, but not essential. 

As a Trustee, you’ll have the opportunity to apply your unique skills and experience within our welcoming and dedicated Board. You will be expected to:    

• Oversee the implementation of Adoption UK’s strategy.   

• Support the senior leadership team, adding value and expert advice.   

• Facilitate change that promotes the care and welfare of those unable to live with their birth parents, and their families.    

• Ensure the charity remains true to its purpose and adheres to its regulatory responsibilities.   

The Board of trustees meets four times a year – these meetings are a mix of virtual and in-person meetings. The annual time commitment is 5 days, plus preparation and reading time, with opportunities for deeper involvement in relevant areas of the charity’s work. You will be invited to Adoption UK events. The role is not remunerated but travel and expenses are paid.

As a trustee, you will be the strategic force that secures and strengthens this lifeline. Your guidance will directly impact our ability to grow and serve. Health Sector: A background in the NHS, public health, or health commissioning, with an understanding of community-based care models, patient pathways, and funding streams.

Social Care: Experience in adult social care, either as a professional, service user, or carer, with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable adults and the social care landscape in Waltham Forest.

The charity Citizens Advice Lewisham (CAL) is a member of the national Citizens Advice (CitA) organisation. We deliver free, impartial and confidential advice to those who live, work or study in the London borough of Lewisham.

Role focus for this appointment

  • monitor the financial position of the local Citizens Advice ensuring that it operates within its means and objectives, ensuring that there are clear lines of accountability for day to day financial management
  • seek the views of all sections of the community and monitor how well the service meets the needs of the local community

• confidence reading management information and contributing to financial decision-making at Board level
• be willing to learn about and follow the Citizens Advice aims, principles and policies, including confidentiality and data protection

How much time do you need to give?

Trustee boards usually meet in the evenings to accommodate the needs of trustees,  and you’ll likely need to give a few hours a month to read papers and support the board.  You may need to attend other meetings if you’re involved in specific projects, or meet with volunteers and staff occasionally within the local Citizens Advice. We can be flexible about the time spent, so come and talk to us.

RSPCA Lincoln Mid & Lincoln

We need volunteers who have expertise in retail operations and income generation to help us maximise the revenue generated in our charity shops. You will gain new skills and experience as a Branch Trustee whilst enabling us to help more animals.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate person, with a background in retail operations and income generation, who could devote their time to volunteer as a trustee for our Branch, and support us in maximising the revenue generated from our charity shops.

Alongside passing on your expertise, this opportunity will give you the chance to influence how we care for and prevent cruelty to animals and drive the implementation of key initiatives. You will serve on the governing body of the charity and be instrumental, alongside fellow trustees, in the running of the Branch and setting out both the short and long term aims.

As a minimum, trustees would normally be expected to attend a monthly committee meeting lasting some 2 to 3 hours. However, the commitment may vary depending on whether or not the trustee takes on additional duties.

Primary responsibilities of the Branch Trustee – Retail and Income Generation

• Assist the Branch Manager in maximising the profitability of the Branch’s three charity shops.
• Work with the Branch Manager to explore any potential for expanding the retail operation by researching the potential for further charity shops.
• Support the Branch Manager in establishing the Branch’s e-commerce operation via online sales platforms such as eBay.
• Work with other trustees, the Branch health and safety provider and the Branch Manager to ensure the charity shops meet health and safety standards.
• Explore other ways to generate income for the Branch and work closely with the Branch Manager to put these ideas into action.

Alongside retail operations and income generation experience, we are looking for someone who is committed to the RSPCA’s charitable objectives and shares our passion for animal welfare. You would be creative, innovative, bring a fresh perspective, and can put ideas into action.

You will need to be able to work with people and have good interpersonal skills. You do not need to be an expert although commitment, common sense, and the ability to be objective are vital.

• We will provide you with a comprehensive trustee training course which will provide you will everything you need to carry out the role.

Practical considerations

• You will need to be 18 or over
• Ideally, the candidate will be based in or around Lincoln, Mid, or North East Lincolnshire; however, we also hold meetings remotely.
• The position is unpaid but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
• You must not be disqualified from being a Trustee. Please read the Charity Commission’s guidance on who can be a Trustee of a charity.
• References will be required.

The Royal Aeronautical Society is the world’s leading professional body dedicated to aerospace communities. Established in 1866, the Society has been at the forefront of developments in aerospace, seeking to promote the highest professional standards and provide a central forum for sharing knowledge. 

The Society is seeking a committed volunteer with a passion for aerospace to join the Board of Trustees from May 2026. As a Trustee, you will play a strategic role in the charity’s governance and help the Society to meet its charitable objects - the advancement of aeronautical art, science, and engineering around the world.

Main duties and responsibilities 

The Board of Trustees seeks to ensure that it has the skills, experience, diversity of thought and perspective to draw upon in its governance and decision-making roles. Trustees are expected to allocate time to reviewing papers and should actively participate in meetings by leading discussions, focusing on key issues and providing advice and guidance on new initiatives, to ensure that the Society continues to meet the needs of its members through financial sustainability and adherence to its charitable objects. 

Trustees must exercise their powers in strict accordance with the charity’s governing documents (i.e. Royal Charter, By-Laws and Regulations). The duties of a Trustee are as follows: 

• Ensuring that the organisation pursues its stated objects (purposes), as defined in its governing documents, by developing and agreeing a long-term strategy 

• Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction 

• Ensuring that the organisation complies with its governing documents, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations 

• Ensuring that the organisation applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its charitable objects (i.e. the charity must not spend money on activities that are not included in its own objects, however worthwhile or charitable those activities are) and for the benefit of the public 

• Ensuring that the organisation defines its goals and evaluates performance against agreed targets 

• Safeguarding the good name and values of the organisation 

• Ensuring the effective and efficient administration of the organisation, including having appropriate policies and procedures in place 

• Ensuring the financial stability of the organisation 

• Protecting and managing the property of the charity and ensuring the proper investment of the charity’s funds 

• Following proper and formal arrangements for the appointment, supervision, support, appraisal and remuneration of the Chief Executive. 

Person specification 

The following characteristics, knowledge and experience are essential: 

• Interest in the charity’s work, the communities it serves and those it represents 

• Clear understanding, and acceptance, of the legal duties, liabilities and responsibilities of Trustees, with a sound knowledge of relevant governance 

• Commitment to the values and principles of the charity including commitment to equity, diversity and inclusivity 

• Ability to understand complex strategic issues, analyse and resolve difficult problems 

• Commitment to the highest ethical standards in line with the Nolan principles 

• Sufficient time and commitment to fulfil the role. 

The following characteristics, knowledge and experience would be advantageous: 

• Proven business and financial acumen together with leadership and organisational skills

Time commitment 

As a member of the Board of Trustees, the appointed individual will be required to attend 4 meetings in a calendar year (usually held on a Monday in March, June, September and November), with each meeting lasting up to 2.5 hours. Trustees should prepare in advance of meetings. Meetings are usually hybrid.

In addition, Trustees will be expected from time to time to engage with Society staff, as well as to devote appropriate preparation time ahead of each engagement. Trustees are expected to meet any additional time commitment that is reasonable (with a further call for commitment from Committee Chairs to fulfil those roles).

This is a voluntary position, and no remuneration is offered. The Society will, however, reimburse all reasonable ‘out of pocket’ expenses for attendance at meetings.

The Royal British Legion (RBL) is entering a pivotal and inspiring phase as we deliver Our Strategy to 2035, designed to respond to the changing world and evolving needs of the entire Armed Forces community: serving personnel, veterans, families, and the bereaved. Our strategy supports a sense of shared purpose across RBL and outlines what we need to do to make sure we will be fit for the future. Our vision is to bring society together to recognise, remember and support the Armed Forces Community and ensure that their unique contribution is not forgotten.   

As part of this commitment, RBL oversees Branch Property Trusts (BPTs)—separate charitable assets held on trust for specific local purposes connected to RBL Branches. These include both properties and proceeds from property sales, with approximately 775 BPTs in total, with around 400 holding property, and 375 representing sale proceeds valued at over £65m; held on trust for specific local charitable purposes connected to RBL Branches. These properties provide the RBL with a vital local community footprint. BPTs are separate charities and must be accounted for independently. RBL remains legally responsible, with decision making delegated to the Branch Property Trust Trustee Committee (BPTTC) to manage conflicts of interest.

Purpose of the role:

To contribute to the BPTTC’s discussions and decisions, to act as a Subject Matter Expert and to act as an impartial and objective guiding mind, supporting and advising on matters pertaining to assets held by RBL on trust, ensuring insight, challenge and assurance is provided on all BPTCC matters.

Independent Committee members are valued for their support, challenge and the advice they can provide to the Executive team and as such understand the roles of Trustees and Executive.

Who we’re looking for:

To support the BPTCC in its independent decision making, we are seeking to appoint two Independent Committee Members with technical skills and experience in the following areas:

· A legal expert with knowledge of property and/or charity law.

· A person with a commercial or operational background in the property sector.

Key Responsibilities:

· To ensure coherence to and support RBL’s Strategy to 2035, to meet the changing needs of the Armed Forces community and reinforce the bond with our society.

· Help to ensure the BPTTC makes decisions which adhere to legal and regulatory requirements, charity law, and the governing documents of the appropriate BPTs in question.

· To bring an impartial and independent perspective to the committee's discussions, helping to improve the quality and objectivity of decision-making. 

· As relevant to the BPTTC, to collaborate with RBL’s Executive team and Trustees committee members to develop and review RBL’s strategic goals, plans and initiatives.

· To support the BPTTC to ensure that RBL complies with all laws, legislation and corporate governance standards.

· To review and approve corporate policies and procedures relevant to the BPTTC.
