Apollo Music Projects is looking for a Chair to join and lead our Board of Trustees. Apollo Music Projects brings the magic of live classical music to children who might not otherwise experience it. We work with primary and special schools to transform children’s lives through music, promoting wellbeing, self-confidence and creativity. We aim to make classical music accessible and relevant to all children regardless of their prior knowledge, experience or background.
We prioritise partnerships with schools from disadvantaged parts of North and East London and ensure our programme engages the entire year group rather than a select group of children. All of our sessions are interactive with full involvement from the children.
More than 18,000 children have benefited from our programme since we started in Hackney in 2004 and we are poised to partner with an even greater number of schools this year.

Chair Role Description

Terms of office

• Periodic meetings with the Centre Manager and management team, with flexibility to respond swiftly to the occasional ad-hoc issues.

CAAS provides an Autism and ADHD Support Service across the 8 boroughs of NW London from our base in Eastcote and offices around London. We offer information, advice, and support to ADHD/Autistic people, their families, and professionals, with the aim of improving quality of life and building neurodivergent-aware communities.
We are incredibly fortunate to be in a sound financial position, with income of around £1.7m per year, and around 40 staff. We offer 60 different services, including personalised one2one support, social groups, psycho-education courses and specialist workshops. We also have a thriving training and awareness raising service, providing ADHD and autism training to statutory services, schools and voluntary sector organisations across NW London.
We’ve grown steadily over the last 25 years, and last year we supported more than 9,000 people, across 18,000 attendances. Looking ahead, our priority is making sure everyone who could benefit from CAAS knows we’re here for them. Advocacy and Representation

Board Participation
· Attend and actively participate in quarterly Board meetings and occasional sub-committees or working groups.
· Prepare for meetings by reading papers and contributing to discussions.
· Participate in Board development activities, including training and annual reviews.
· Champion equity, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of the charity’s governance and culture.

Commitment
The Board meets 8 times a year, mostly by video call, and Board meetings are usually around 2hrs in length. Once a year we meet for a longer session, in person, to consider strategic items in more depth.
Trustees will be asked to read a few papers in advance of the meeting, which could take 1-2hrs each meeting.
Trustees are also encouraged to engage with the organisation between meetings, for example attending events, meeting staff, or supporting specific initiatives.
Some Trustees may be asked to take on additional responsibility, if they have a particular area of expertise (such as HR, fundraising etc); if so, they may be asked to commit 5-10 hours per year to support with reviewing policies or providing guidance to the management group.
Initial 1-year term, extended by mutual agreement.Trustee Terms are ordinarily for 4 years, and Trustees can be appointed for a 2nd 4-year term if desired.
Exclusions
Please note that Section 72(1) of the Charities Act 1993 disqualifies anyone who:
· has been convicted of an offence involving deception or dishonesty, unless the conviction is spent
· is an undischarged bankrupt
· has previously been removed from trusteeship of a charity by the court or the Charity Commissioners
· is under a disqualification order under the Company Directors Disqualification Act 1986
It is an offence to act as a charity trustee while disqualified unless the Charity Commission has given a waiver under section 72(4) of the Charities Act 1993.

Outside Edge Theatre Company, which is the UK’s only theatre company and participatory arts charity focused on addiction, is recruiting our next Chair of the Board of Trustees.
For the past 25 years, we have created theatre productions about issues related to addiction and offered free drama activities to help people at-risk and affected by addiction to live healthier lives. Over the last year we supported 837 people, and they attended 504 creative activity sessions a total of 5,408 times.
Our inclusive weekly arts activities encourage service users and audiences to develop healthy habits, discover new talents and reclaim centre stage in their own lives. We provide participants with pastoral care and wraparound support, opportunities for volunteering and paid employment, and a person-centred approach to help people identify and achieve outcomes for themselves. This year, we are delivering over 400 service sessions across our regular weekly drop-in groups, masterclasses, theatre clubs and taster sessions.
In addition to our work with people in recovery, Outside Edge is a producing theatre company that makes work about issues related to addiction. This unique subject matter ranges from problematic gambling to the social and political determinants leading to drug and alcohol abuse. Since 1999 we have produced more than 60 critically acclaimed productions that have toured across London, the rest of the UK and been presented in partnership with off-West End venues.

Emmaus Norfolk and Waveney is a local and impactful homelessness charity which provides, for up to 52 people (companions) who have been homeless and experienced the trauma this can cause, with a home, meaningful employment and subsequently the ability to make equitable life choices and take action towards living authentic, settled, healthy and fulfilling lives in the wider community.
We are one of 29 Emmaus Communities across the U.K. which form part of Emmaus UK, which is a federated charity and in turn part of the wider Emmaus International Movement.
Our current Chair of Trustees is due to come to the end of their term in the middle of next year and we are looking to appoint a Chair (Designate) to takeover and lead the delivery of our ambitious strategic plan.

Your primary role will be to provide sound governance to our charity and working with the Board of Trustees, C.E.O., committed management team and companion representatives, set its strategic direction and oversee its delivery, whilst ensuring adherence with its charitable objectives, purpose, values and governing documents.

Full induction training will be provided, together with reasonable travel expenses.
We are located in the tranquil South Norfolk countryside and any in-person meetings that are required will normally be held at our Ditchingham site.
The time commitment is approximately 10-12 hours per month, including attendance at meetings.
