At Cats Protection we help thousands of cats and kittens each year thanks to our dedicated and passionate volunteer groups. We have branches across the UK, all of which help our cats in different ways. Branches take in stray and abandoned cats and ensure they receive the veterinary care and attention they deserve; help raise funds, promote neutering and help spread cat welfare messages. Our branch team leader volunteers lead their local team by supporting and managing volunteers within their group, maintaining communications with both volunteers and employees, and helping promote a positive and professional image of Cats Protection.

What we need from you

You’ll be:

• Supporting your team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure volunteers are happy and confident
• Making sure the team observes charity best practice and compliance
• Collaborating with your Branch Development Manager (BDM) to plan volunteer activity
• Leading the team to follow Cats Protection policies, procedures and guidelines
• Monitoring expenditure and helping ensure long term financial stability of the volunteer group
• Organising and chairing team meetings
• Acting as an ambassador for Cats Protection

Time expectation

Our branch team leader volunteers usually spend 10 to 15 hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed. There will be times of year when more hours are required, such as towards the end of the financial year, but support and guidance are available.

Since launching in March 2016 we have worked with over 10,000 young people across the UK, delivering fun, engaging and dynamic workshops and programmes to inspire young people to become the best version of themselves. Following a period of growth and reflection, we are embarking on the journey to establish our own charity.

The new charity will become a platform for us to grow our reach and impact, delivering more transformational programmes for young people.

Trustee Duties and Responsibilities

• Support and provide advice on 2-3 Degrees Legacy CIO’s purpose, vision, goals and activities.

Time commitment

This will include keeping abreast of the work of the charity through reading staff reports and attending Trustee Board meetings four times a year, responding to emails and providing advice and support to staff as necessary. In addition, you should be able to attend at least one full Board Development Day per year.

AFF is independent of the Army and offers confidential advice to serving personnel and their families either online, by email or by phone. We may respond to enquiries with direct advice or by signposting to help identify the right route for further advice or support. At a strategic level we work with senior command and our Chief Executive works with the most senior Army commanders, the Ministry of Defence, and the UK and devolved nations legislative and executive bodies. AFF is often pivotal in achieving improvements for serving soldiers and their families such as changes to Government and military policy and changes to how things are provided for families.

AFF Trustees provide oversight, governance, and support to ensure AFF remains effective in its work and responsive to the needs of the Army community.  They help shape the strategic direction of the Army Families Federation, by providing Board-level guidance to the team supporting soldiers and their families, wherever they are in the world, so they are able to live well throughout their Army life.

• Commercial/ fundraising: experience of commercial income generation, fundraising and development strategies.

Disability Snowsport UK’s vision is of mountains and ski slopes free from barriers, where disabled people can learn and take part alongside family, friends and peers.

Our Mission 

To make snowsport accessible for everyone; regardless of disability, injury or experience. We work to remove the barriers to taking part so that disabled children and adults, and their families can enjoy the freedom, independence and the physical and wellbeing benefits of skiing and snowboarding, and related activities.

The Role 

The role of the Trustee is to ensure the activities of the charity support its purpose and serve the interests of its beneficiaries. Trustees provide strategic guidance, governance and oversight of management, ensuring the organisation is accountable and acting as a ‘critical friend’ to the CEO. They are there to protect the charities assets both physical and reputational. They make sure resources are managed responsibly and that the charity is run sustainably.  

Currently an active board of 12, we are forward planning for routine board member rotation in 2025. Working alongside our Chief Executive, Kavita Prasad, and the Senior Leadership Team, our trustees steer the organisation in achieving its charitable aims and setting its strategic direction.

We are looking for three new Trustees to join us. We are looking for candidates with an interest in international development and disability inclusion. 

Based on our recent Trustee skills audit we have identified specific needs for Trustees with the following expertise and/or experience: 

• Business leaders with connections in the corporate world
• People with experience of fundraising
• People with experience of international development and disability

Key Responsibilities 

• Ensure the organisation carries out the statutory responsibilities of a trustee in an efficient and effective manner in keeping with its objectives and mandate
• Represent and promote Sense International’s vision and values internally and externally, and to serve occasionally as a spokesperson and public representative for Sense International when requested
• Contribute to development of strategy and setting the strategic direction and ensure high level oversight of delivery of the organisation’s strategy.

Trustees are encouraged to support other Sense International events and provide ad-hoc support to the Executive and Senior Leadership Team in between meetings. They are also encouraged to join the board sub committees who support the work of the board. These committees meet at least quarterly. 

Trustee roles are not paid but reasonable expenses can be paid. There is no requirement to have served on a Board previously, and we are keen to diversify the range of voices, perspectives and backgrounds represented.

Key Responsibilities:

General Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Jumping Beans Team to ensure project success

• Coordinate and chair weekly Tuesday evening meetings

On-Site Responsibilities During Jumping Beans Sessions:

1. Staff & Volunteer Coordination

• Brief staff and volunteers on the day’s plan and their roles

• Ensure child-to-staff ratios are maintained

• Manage volunteer and staff attendance

• Act as the main point of contact for staff and volunteer concerns

2. Activity Oversight

• Ensure activities run on schedule and engage children effectively

• Troubleshoot or adapt plans as needed

• Confirm all materials and equipment are prepared

3. Child Safety & Welfare

• Oversee child sign-in/sign-out

• Monitor for safeguarding issues and respond appropriately

• Manage minor incidents and maintain accurate records

• Ensure the venue is safe, clean, and child-friendly

4. Communication

• Welcome and update parents, address any concerns

• Serve as liaison between staff, children, parents, and visitors

• Escalate significant issues to senior leadership

5. Logistics & Administration

• Manage session supplies and resources

• Track attendance, consent forms, and incident logs

• Ensure awareness of allergies and special requirements

• Uphold all safeguarding, emergency, and first aid policies

6. Evaluation & Reporting

• Take note of successes and areas for improvement

• Gather informal feedback from children, parents, and staff

• Report session outcomes to leadership

• Previous experience in project management or team leadership (paid or voluntary)

Purpose

Young Carers’ Crew is a registered charity (number 1176778) and runs a group which meets to provide emotional and practical support to Young Carers through recreational activities. We give support to local children and young people, who perform a caring role supporting another member of their household. 

Young Carers’ Crew is a small grassroots community group. We are hoping to bring in more people with diverse skills and experience to build sustainability.  

We are looking for Volunteer Trustees with a range of skills, to help steer and direct the organisation. 

The Board of Trustees takes on the ultimate legal and financial responsibility for all the activities of the organisation. They maintain an overview of policy and strategic direction rather than being involved in day-to-day operations. This position will not have any regular contact with the children or the volunteers running the Group activities. 

Role Description 

Volunteer Trustee for Young Carers’ Crew 

Volunteering is an unpaid position. Appropriate out-of-pocket expenses will be re-imbursed.

Location: Most tasks will be home-based.  Meetings will be held in and around Hitchin, Herts.

Hours: Up to 2.5 hours per month for Board meetings. Additional time for position is estimated to be 3 to 4 hours per month.

Reports to: Chair of Board of Trustees for Young Carers’ Crew

DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) requirement: Appointment to these posts is subject to an up-to-date, satisfactory, enhanced DBS check with a check against the barred lists for children and adults.

Duties and Responsibilities

Experience

No experience is necessary for a general position on the Board of Trustees, just enthusiasm and a willingness to help the organisation grow and support the young carers.

For more specific positions; it would be highly desirable that you bring some experience in the charity sector, social care or in business development. 

So, for example, we would welcome someone with experience of working in a safeguarding role with young people specifically or from an HR background or someone who can help us raise money for the charity. .

Professionals Aid Guild (PAG) is seeking a new Trustee to join a well-established charity based in London to assist with ongoing and future strategic development. A background in Education or Social Welfare would be desirable.

Using your experience, skills and knowledge, as Trustee you will be;

• Contributing actively to the Board of Trustees' role in giving firm strategic direction to the organisation,
• Setting overall policy, defining goals and setting targets and evaluating performance against agreed targets.
• Ensuring the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.
• Ensuring the financial stability of the organisation.
• Protecting and managing the property of the organisation and ensuring the proper investment of the organisation's funds.
• Ensuring that the charity has a clear vision, mission and strategic direction and is focused on achieving these.
• Being responsible for the performance of the charity and for its “corporate” behaviour; ensuring that the charity complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.
• Acting as guardians of the charity’s assets, both tangible and intangible, taking all due care over their security, deployment and proper application.
• Ensuring that the charity’s governance is of the highest possible standard.

We are particularly interested in hearing from anyone with a background in IT, Education or Welfare; however a general interest in the relief of poverty is important. A successful applicant would be decisive, responsible, good at networking and passionate about delivering and developing the aims of the charity. Our Trustees play a vital role in the work of the charity and have a high degree of responsibility. The charity processes confidential information about our applicants and so an awareness of data protection regulation would be useful.

As a Trustee for PAG you will make a difference to professionals throughout UK.  Examples of our beneficiaries could include a family struggling to afford school uniforms for their children, a cancer sufferer who has had to give up work and is struggling to manage financially, a medical student whose funding has failed, or a single parent who has moved to a new home and needs assistance with the cost of furniture – these are all areas in which PAG has assisted and continues to assist.

Some case studies below demonstrate the real impact that the charity has;

1. Mrs B accumulated large debts when she lost her job and was unable to obtain further loan or credit.  She was awarded a one-off gift of £500 towards travel for the final year of her MSc/Diploma from PAG’s Education Committee. Mrs B wrote “I am lost for words to express my gratitude for the received cheque. I would like to say thank you for helping me to every person involved. It will truly make a big difference to my life.”
2. Ms E left the family home due to domestic violence and subsequently divorced, she has one son, who is in employment and who contributes to the household income, and one daughter, who is at school. Mrs E is not currently employed; she has completed a Diploma and hopes to find paid employment soon. She was awarded a grant by the Case Committee and a further award for her daughter’s education from the Education Committee. Ms E wrote “I just wanted to thank you all for helping my family and I. I truly feel grateful and supported by PAG. I really don’t know how I would have coped over the years with so many different events that have happened to in my life. Thank you once again.”

We are seeking a trustee with a finance and/or accounting background who will work with the Board of Trustees and Management to ensure the charity's financial viability.  There is also a more ‘hands-on’ function managing the charity’s investments and cash deposits. 

The Treasurer will maintain an overview of the organisation’s finances, ensuring financial viability, advising and guiding on financial requirements and best practice and providing advice, assistance and information to Trustees (Committee Members) on their financial stewardship responsibilities.
