Here at Youth4Youth, we have grown a strong, tight-knit community of individuals who are passionate about making a difference and improving the lives of young people across the UK. Our growing team of volunteers all contribute, significantly, to the impact that we have as a charity on our direct beneficiaries, regardless of the department that they work in of the level of time that they are able to commit. Our services primarily offer a peer-support network to young people right across the UK, allowing them to access a peer mentor who is of a similar age to them and somebody that they feel more comfortable speaking with.

If successful, you will be joining a growing team of diverse, but likeminded individuals, collaborating to increase the reach of the Charity and improve support provisions available to young people. All of our volunteers and employees are remote workers, but that doesn't stop us keeping in touch and maintaining a strong positive culture amongst our whole team.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Executive Leadership Team here at Youth4Youth to drive positive change in all things volunteer engagement. As an entirely volunteer run organisation, positive engagement with volunteers is absolutely fundamental in allowing Youth4Youth to achieve its mission. It is so fundamental that one of our overarching strategic goals is to ensure that all volunteers have a positive and meaningful volunteering experience when working with us. The Volunteer Experience Director will play a critical role in setting strategy and executing solutions to improve the overall volunteer experience. 

Responsibilities 

Short term objectives:

• Define the volunteering proposition for the Charity, helping new and existing volunteers to understand the impact of working with Youth4Youth
• Manage a project to understand gaps in volunteer engagement and experience, generating recommendations back to the ELT
• Develop a volunteer experience strategy that improves engagement and the overall volunteering experience of all involved with Youth4Youth

Overall objectives and responsibilities:

• Lead a team of volunteers who are involved in supporting a positive volunteering experience with the charity
• Develop and execute a volunteer experience strategy that seeks to attract, engage and retain high-quality volunteers into all teams across the charity
• Partner effectively with the broader charity leadership team to understand engagement challenges and implement solutions to close engagement gaps
• Report to the CEO and the Board of Trustees on any strategic progress made around improving volunteer engagement

Skills 

• Ability to manage complex projects, including the direct and indirect management and coordination of people resources
• Ability to understand complex problems and articulate solutions in a clear, concise and understandable manner
• Demonstrable blue-sky thinking that encourages the implementation of new solutions that may not have been considered before
• Ability to influence both with and without authority to drive positive and meaningful change at all levels and across all departments

The hiring process

Our hiring process typically has two stages 

1. Video or Written Application (when applicable) 
2. Interview with the Volunteering Coordinator for that role

Are you a social media whiz?

Can you take a successful brand and make it sparkle?

As a social media volunteer you will be managing and creating content for the charity's social media platforms, monitoring performance and establishing and maintaining active social media accounts.

What will you be doing?

• Creating and managing daily posts across all social media platforms e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn.
• Advertising our services, webinars and other events in order to reach more families in need of the support we offer.
• Working in conjunction with the Operations Manager, develop new, engaging content to increase interest, improve our presence, attract followers and drive growth.
• Create posts for the organisations needs as and when needed.

What are we looking for?

• Clear understanding of social media platforms.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly motivated, enthusiastic and a positive can-do attitude.
• Knowledge of marketing and public relations is desirable.
• Creativity and experience with Canva for content design is also desirable.

We are looking to appoint 3-4 Trustees with experience in the following specialist areas:

· Finance and Commercial: Capital financing, property development, or redevelopment of care facilities,

·Homelessness: Experience in services supporting women, particularly those affected by domestic violence or trauma,

· Fundraising: Capital campaigns or charitable trusts and grant-making bodies,

· Digital: Tech solutions that improve care delivery or operational efficiency.

These posts are subject to an occupational requirement that the holders are practising Christians under Part 1 of Schedule 9 to the Equality Act 2010.

We are looking for trustees who will offer challenges, experience, and expert knowledge to help us think differently. We are looking for individuals who will take an active role in the governance of the Charity and support our expansion objectives - to remain financially stable whilst actively growing our volunteer network, our geographical coverage and our paid services to increase the number of families and young people we can support each year.

Person specification:

• Good, independent judgement and strategic vision.

• Commitment to the organisation and a willingness and ability to devote the necessary time & effort to the role.

• An understanding of, or interest in, special educational needs and disability affecting children and young people and their families.

• Skills to analyse proposals, examine their strategic consequences and make concise recommendations as part of the Board.

• Ability to cooperatively work with the whole team of trustees, and with employees and volunteers.

• Willingness to speak your mind and appropriately challenge other trustees and employees; but also listen to the views of different people before reaching a decision.

• Secure personal access to digital communication technology with an ability to competently and efficiently use those resources.

• Willingness to be available to employees for advice and enquiries on a scheduled or ad-hoc basis.

The ideal applicant would also possess the following:

• Extensive networks, and a willingness to draw on contacts as appropriate.

• Experience of working at a senior management / leadership level.

A Trustee will bring an individual area of expertise to benefit our organisation. Among the many skills they may have relate to business development, financial management; charity governance, staff development, performance management, local government, disability service development and adult social care. The Trustees work closely with the Executive Management Team (EMT) on the strategic direction of the business. They coordinate and attend quarterly board meetings, through which they review the work of the charity and provide advice, support and focus attention onto the areas that the EMT needs to consider and prepare for, to continuously improve what we do and respond to the changing environment in which Bethphage operates. Bethphage is a values-based charitable business, supporting some of the most vulnerable people in the community. The charity also needs to make a modest financial surplus to remain viable. The role of a Trustee is to be a critical friend to the management team, lending expertise and experience to help guide the organisation in achieving its aims and sometimes competing objectives. Some of our board members have been a part of Bethphage for many years, you will be joining a supportive, friendly, and collegiate team that will help you develop and grow your role as a Trustee. Trustees generally thoroughly enjoy the role and find that it is a very rewarding experience. The Trustees work on a voluntary capacity for the benefit of the charity, this usually equates to one day per month. All Trustees are requested to undergo a DBS check (Disclosure & Barring service). Currently, we are particularly interested in hearing from people with financial and/or legal experience and expertise.

Time expectation

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.

We are looking for someone who shares our values to join us as a Music Education Trustee, maximising the impact of our music education strategy in helping children and young people from families on low income in Surrey to make music.

Specific Tasks

Identifying, developing and overseeing appropriate group teaching and ensemble projects in primary and secondary schools with high pupil premium ratios. Such  projects will be funded or co-funded by CKT but delivered by other established music education providers 

Managing CKT’ s interface with

• Surrey Arts (including at chief executive and area manager level),
• Surrey state schools  as potential beneficiaries of CKT’s work
• other providers of music education in Surrey including Rock Schools

Working with:

• CKTs music education advisers to help define and deliver the above
• the bursaries trustee/manager to ensure that the criteria and process for CKTs bursaries maximises CKT’s impact
• the marketing and communications manager to best market what CKT offers to schools and music teachers
• Trustees, taking the lead on fundraising in developing applications for grants to fund CKT’s project work
• Acting as one of CKT’s Trustees and Directors attending and contributing to board meetings
• Performing such other tasks and activities for CKT as skills and time allow

Skills and experience required

In depth experience of music education at primary and/or secondary level

This will probably have been gained through practical experience either as a successful school head of music and/or in a county music service and/or in a music education charity or provider
